  1. I have always loved the TT blue dial sub. But I am falling for the same watch with the slate Serti dial so I have been looking for a Serti dial. Came accross this. It seems to be to good of a price and the O in Rolex doesn't seem to look right. Here it is.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Submariner-Slate...%3A5%7C294%3A50 Compare to this dial... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Submariner-SS-18...%3A5%7C294%3A50
  2. Thanks, thats a 2001 14060M all original and is very nice shape. I wear it every day. The TT started off as the MBK that By-Tor used in his review...the exact watch. I decided I didn't like the engraved rehaut so I got a case from a fellow member. I don't know the origin of the case but its a rep for sure. But I like it better because the bezel doesn't hang over the edge of the case as much. I though that was a dead givaway. At this point all thats left of the MBK is the bezel, movement, hands, dial and the clasp. The band is a solid 18K/SS aftermarket (non SEL) with the MBK clasp so it has all of the rlx markings. The crown is gen and the tube is aftermarket to gen specs. The bezel insert is also aftermarket. My goal is a rep of a 2000-2002 era TT sub, this is why I wasn't liking the engraved rehaut, the new case also has lug holes. I have worked the CGs as close to my GEN as possible, I may be able to do a little more. I am now looking for an aftermarket solid 18K bezel so all the gold will be perfect. Knowing myself I will eventually build this thing up so every part is GEN. It will be a frankenwatch but a GEN frankenwatch.
  3. Please tell me what you guys think of these. One is a GEN and the other is a work in progress, I'm sure you know which is which. You can be honest. I know the picture quality is terrible but thats as close as I could get with my crappy camera.
  4. My very first post on here was just like yours. After some time looking around this site I was able to purchase a very good replica from a fellow member. Now after a few slight modifications my TT sub nearly identical to my genuine SS sub. If you are in a rush visit the trading zone forum, there are quite a few very good reps for sale over there.
  5. I'm having a hard time understanding why some subs the appear identical have different ref numbers. For example it seems like ref number 16613 and 16618 seem to be attached to the TT subs. Can someone give me a brief rundown?
  6. Very nice, looks just like mine. I put an aftermarket 18K/SS band and a GEN 18K crown. Now I'm looking for an 18K bezel.
  7. Thanks for the heads up on the seller. Maybe I will try to install the bezel from my GEN SS sub on the MBK to see how close it is. Any recomendations on a place to get a good aftermarket 18K bezel?
  8. Do you have any pictures that are slightly less close up? Would like to see the entire watch.
  9. I have a TT MBK sub and I'm putting real gold on the watch. I already put in a GEN 18K crown and an after market solid 18K/SS band. Now I want to do the bezel. Will one of the aftermarket bezels like the link below work? I have popped the bezel off the MBK and it looks and works exactly like my GEN SS sub. I'm just worried that after $360.00 the diameter might be slightly off and not fit. Any advice before I pull the trigger would be great. Will this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/BEZEL-INSERT-FOR-ROLEX...%3A3%7C294%3A50 If anyone has a better sourse than the bay I'm all ears. I got the GEN crown from Clark but they don't have the bezel.
  10. Yeah nevermind. I have all the tools to take the watch apart but that tiny painting is to much. I'll just wait and buy a gen dial or a whole gen watch.
  11. Doing some mods to my TT sub. One thing I notice with the new bezel insert is that the pearl is so much brighter than the markers and hands. The when I put the watch side by side with my GEN SS sub under the light then in the dark the difference is painfully clear. I know some of you have done this. Where do you get the lume paint and what tool do you use to apply it? And what happens if you "paint outside the lines" by mistake? Is it easy to clean up and start over?
  12. Is this a good price for a GEN movement? I am guessing this the movement for a 40mm sub date? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-Cal-3035-Movemen...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  13. Sorry, I didn't mean a GEN bezel, I meant a solid 18K bezel but an aftermarket. I already did the insert, big difference.
  14. Thanks, I ordered the crown and tube from Clarks. I also ordered a solid 18K/SS oyster band from Watch Band Man on ebay. Only thing left is the bezel which I'll get into a little down the road. Thanks again for all the help.
  15. Found the tube and crown on the bay. Anybody ever dealt with Clark Watch Parts? The prices almost seem to low. http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Case-tube-Ref-24-70...id=p4634.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Rolex-Crown-Gold-Ge...id=p4634.c0.m14
  16. Thanks, that was very informative.
  17. I have an MBK TT sub, in fact its the exact watch used in By-Tors review (Noob vs MBK...who has the best sub). I am in the process of doing a few minor mods and I wanted putting in a GEN crown to be of them. Can anyone tell me what the part number for a GEN 18K crown is, and if it will work in my MBK. it has the fat tube. Also if anyone has a suggestion on where to get one other than the bay. Thanks
  18. Is it me or does the date mag look to far the the right? Is that normal for some of the subs?
  19. Can you tell us what the problem was? It may help someone in the future here.
  20. When I recieved my MBK sub from Eurotimez I hand wound it and it has kept perfect time ever since. But then again since then I have either worn it or put in my auto winder.
  21. Please follow this advise. Wear the watch or put it in an auto watch winder. If it hasn't run in a while it will take some time for it to store the needed energy to keep it running. Even real subs need to be moving and will stop after a day and a half if not worn or kept in a winder. I just bought a winder so I don't have to wind them and reset the time .
  22. Exciting times recieving your first rep. Just to hold it and see how accurate it is. I just got my first rep last Monday. Its a TT sub and I compared it to my gen SS sub and its pretty damn good. I have always been a handy guy and I have a sharp eye. I can see the very minor differences between the rep and the gen. The first was the bezel insert. The numbers on the rep were to fat and not sharply printed. I just changed the insert with an aftermarket and the difference is amazing. I am told I have one of the best TT sub reps and I believe it. Aside from the bezel insert the only other thing I will be doing is adjusting the crown guards. I can clearly see the difference between the rep and the gen. In my opinion its a dead give away. I am just waiting on my case back opener to arrive and I will be doing the job based onn the how to tip in the pinned section. Lots of good info here. One thing that is amazingly accurate is the etched cornet in the crystal at 6 o-clock. I examined my gen and the rep with a mag glass and they look identical in size, shape and visibility....which is not possible with the naked eye. Amazing.
  23. I saw that while browsing the bay myself. Can someone please explain the reason the watch is worth 200K? And what is Comex?
  24. Yup...It looks very similar except it doesn't have the rotating bezel with the numbers. When I got my gen SS sub about 18 months ago my wife wanted a matching one, but it didn't exist. We have been Seiko wearers for some years now and she has a nice ladies Seiko dive watch. For social events I got her a sweet all SS Movado. All gens obviously.
  25. All very educational info, thanks. So if I understand correctly....if a movement is described as an ETA then it is swiss made? How would a swiss "ETA" movement in a rep compare to a gen Rolex movement as far as reliability?
