  1. So I got my dial today. This is the first step of my 1675 build. I also got the hands but I don't think I will need them as I have probably ruled out going gen case and movement. Out of curiosity, would I be able to sell the hands and if so would it be better to sell as a set of mercedes hands and the GMT hand seperatly. Also, what is a fair price for something like these considering that the GMT hand is missing tritium on arrow.

  2. Looks good to me, the scrolling is correct. On the right side of the crown the top scroll turns up while on the left side the bottom scoll turns up. This is correct. Here is a rather lengthy discussion about the authenticity of these clasp markings.

  3. I honestly don't know if it is worth building a watch for 2700 dollars that is worth basically the same. I could have 2700 in it and maybe get what I have out of it. If I were to go the rep route I could have about 800 in it with gen dial, insert, crystal, crown, tube bracelet, and be able to get that back out as well............... and spend the difference building a 16600 with same gen parts.

  4. So I have a tough decision to make. As I am sure some of you know from my other 1675 post I have a gen dial and hands that I recently purchased. I was planning on building a rep 1655-1675. However, I just found a gen 1675 midcase with back, crystal, crown and tube for what I think is a reasonable price. It is still not cheap as I will have to do some liquidating to pick it up. I plan on putting a gen jubilee bracelt with 550 endlinks on the watch either way and all ready have a faded black insert. If I were to buy the gen case I could not afford at the time to get gen bezel or movement. I would probably get a rep bezel and and a21 movement and wear it till I could get a bezel and 1575 movement. I figure I could find a gen bezel for around 400 and movement for about a grand down the road to complete everything. My question is, once I get all the parts I figure I will have around 2700 in the watch. Is that a reasonable amount for a franken? This is a tough call for me as like I said I will need to liquidate some watches and probably parts for a 16600 build I was planning.

Thanks for looking and for any advice,

    Joe

  5. Thanks everyone for the wonderfull input. I think I have found the case, bezel, and retaining ring. My biggest dilema now is the movement. I have an eta 2846 from an OCTO coming from another member that I would like to use but I do not know how or who to contact to have it modified to a GMT.

Yes. Search out my early 6542 construction threads for details.
Freddy I did the search and saw your threads on the build but the links that I think were the ones on the 2846-GMT info did not work. Am I missing something? Any input on this most recent hurdle would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again

  6. So I just scored a gen Rolex 1675 dial and hand set. I will post pics tomorrow of the dial and hands. I have read up on all the tutorials for the 1655-1675 builds but I am still a little confused as to what case I need. I know everyone says Josh's 1:1 1655 but is this the mcqueen 1655? I plan on doing gen crystal insert crown and tube along with my dial. I assume the hands will be of no use to me so they will probably end up on vrf. Any help on material and info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Joe

  7. About a month ago I became the proud owner of a WM9 V2. I received this watch in a trade from a great member who will remain nameless unless he would like to chime in. The watch has a gen period correct insert that came with the watch. I had the watch sent to pbdad for instalation of a gen crown, and crystal that I had sourced. I cannot begin to thank pbdad enough for the great job he did. Wonderfull communication and I cannot wait to work with him again on other projects. The insert and crystal has very small scuffs which imho adds to its authenticity. I plan on having this watch be my daily beater as it was for the owner before me.

    Without further ado
