  1. Thank-you gentlemen for the ideas. Good advice about putting downward pressure moving the bezel to minimalize wear. I'll remember that. I'll fiddle with the flat metal spring to get it right. I'll also be looking for a "set" to buy. May try the superglue idea. I've already tried some rubber cement. That didn't work too well though. Iwc3
  2. I need to ask some advice. I have this Cartel (josh) 5513 I've been doing some mods to. Here is the problem: The bezel is so loose, it pops off at the slightest jarring. After reading the RWG posts, I tried putting some bends in the thin bezel ring washer underneath. Though that helped the spin tension nicely, it did not keep the bezel any more secure. ( I have another Josh 5513 that stays on the watch) Here's the question: If its the bezel that is not made properly are there other bezel assemblies to fit this? or Is it possible on a Josh 5513 to buy a whole new assembly, Crystal retaining ring, washer and bezel? I love the watch but right now to wear it I have the bezel "locked down". Thanks, iwc3
  3. When you get a chance aeromatic, can you point me to that Ebayer with the boxes? Thanks, Iwc3

  5. First one: 130813426092 Looks like a good case, movement, but I question the hands. I'm not an expert on those, but I didn't think original hands look like that. I also think this dial is a rep. Second one: 130813447798 Looks like a good case, not sure of the movement, but the dial and hands look like reps
  6. Thanks... nope... went with this one: http://www.rafflestime.com/servlet/the-954/Clasp-for-20mm-Tudor/Detail
  7. Added caseback engraving by JMB... beautiful work. The work on the caseback changes the whole feel of the watch Added lug holes by JMB Added 7836 bracelet from Josh Added Tudor clasp from Rafflestime Added White lume to the service dial Still need to install gen Tudor movement and gen Crown with Clark tube.
  8. Need help sourcing a set of TC's sub hands. How would we go about getting a set of hands from him? Regards, iwc3
  9. Thats a great looking display back. I've been scouring the web for a 5513/1680 display back. Thomas Preik is working on one, but they are about $200. Can you share who makes the one you used? Thanks, iwc3
  10. Beautiful. Thank-you for the tip horzs. Now I just need to find the source for those. iwc3
  11. Does anyone know if there exists a clear caseback that fits the cartel sub 5513 case? thanks, iwc3
  12. That is a luscious bezel pip. Can you tell me the case you're using and then crown-crown tube? It is a complete package!
  13. Thanks everyone. I suppose you're right about the polishing. Some 40-50 year old wristwatches have been polished everytime they were serviced. I suppose it would be period correct to put about a dozen or more "watchmaker" service scratches on the inside of the caseback too. The hands are what came from Josh, but I modded the hour hand. I cut out the mercedes three spikes about halfway from the edge. Then I filed off the stubs to clear the circle. iwc3
  14. Thanks, I got the dial at http://www.chrono-shop.
  15. I begin to see how much enjoyment it is making these builds. I ordered a 703 case tube, haven't purchased the crown yet.... but couldn't wait though, had to start modding again. By The Way... I am new at these "builds", but I studied watchmaking a long time ago, and I've been working on watches again off and on for the past 10 years. So, I've got a lot of small hand tools and quite a bit of experience. Its not like I just started at the bench. With that said, I am utterly amazed at the skill levels and the vast knowledge possessed by many on this board. I tried my hand at "shaving the crown guards" last night. For the longest time, I thought the idea was to make them more "pointy". Then after looking at dozens of photos I realized, maybe they are supposed to be "thinner" not pointier. So I made them thinner, maybe too thin. While I was at it, I softened the case. Then after that, I figured I couldn't wait on the new crown and crown tube, so I tried modding the factory Josh 5513 crown. I'd like to shave off some of the outside end. It looks funny, but I would lose the "signed Rolex". Basically, I shortened it from the watch side, hand filed it down quite a bit, and then put a bevel on the knurls. I had to shorten the stem a hair to allow the crown to screw in tight to the case. You guys are the experts. Did I shave the CGs a little too much?... or the wrong way? Next, I'll have to get the springbars drilled.
  16. You are amazing Ronin! and correct.... From an NYT's article quoting Ann Romney herself, replying to a question from a little girl.... At a campaign event in Illinois, when a little girl asked if her wristwatch was real, Mrs. Romney, who often wears a Michael Kors Rolex look-alike, replied: “Well, it’s real plastic. But it’s a real watch, too.”
  17. Looks to be wearing a man's 18kt president at the debate. Noticed a photo of Mrs. Romney at an outdoor event: Same watch. I'll be looking for others.
  18. You're right about the hour hand. Its a little dicey working on that. Its not perfect, but enjoyable to wear. I guess I'm not exactly "new" to RWG. I think I have been a member for 6 years too. I only started posting today. :-) I've been enjoying the "fun" by just reading and viewing a looong time.
  19. New to RWG. This is my first build, starting with a Josh 5513, replaced crystal, gen dial, and modded hour hand. I can see after today, I will eventually start on a 1016 too.
  20. Thanks for sharing all the photos. Well done!
  21. Beautiful watch. Congratulations!
  22. There is nothing I like more than a 1016. I'm new to this, and a 1016 has got to be in my future.
  23. Does anyone know where I could find a new handset for pam 127. I would need the gold hour and minute hand. Any help is appreciated. IWC3
