  1. This is a 1680 watch that Silix is selling...I am considering buying one. What is the BPH of the asian 17j? Is this an exceptable movement? Is this the correct dial? Isnt this a 1665 dial on a 1680? Im new to Rolex...sorry if this is a dumb question. http://www.watchsilix.com/pic/images/rol054-7.jpg
  2. Canon Rebel DSLR...12 megapix. They arent too expensive either, not much more than a good point and shoot. Then get a good Canon or Tamron Macro lens (on my wish list thanks to this site). You can make a cheap soft box with flourescant tubes or curly flourescant bulbs surrounded by a white sheet or T. Here is a link to my watch pics shot with a Canon 10D DSLR, 50mm, 35-80mm, Canon lenses with 2x converter. First pics are of a ladies DJ, Scroll down past comments to see more pics of my Blue TT: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...&hl=ifly_65
  3. Bryan, You may try 'photoshop' software to color correct your shots...they are yellow. Pull up the pic in photoshop and hit 'auto color'. Yes the Nikons are great...the D60 would be an excellent choice...or get yourself a Canon Rebel...12 megapix. They arent too expensive either. Then get a good Canon Macro lens (on my wish list thanks to this site). You can make a super cheap soft box with flourescant tubes or curly flourescant bulbs surrounded by a white sheet or T. Dont use Tungsten house lamps since they are yellow in color temperature. Here is a link to my watch pics shot with a Canon 10D, 50mm, 35-80mm, Canon lenses with 2x converter. 4. A few profile pics of my TT blue cyclops/pearl.
  5. 3 months ago I did a google search for reps and found all the bad sites listed. By luck I found Repgeek...then RWG. I was ready to order from at least two of those sites prior, but luckily I didnt. Its too bad how the search engines work. It wasnt easy to find RWG or REPGEEK.
  6. Incredible thread...I searched for my favorite rolex...1680. This post came up...nice pics...bad for bank account.
  7. WOW...those are nice. I love the vintage series.... I want those!!!
  8. Ask Chris @Eurotimez what he thinks...send him an email. He will break it down even further for you. He will probably suggest what dieselpower does... the MBW.
  9. Thanks RobbieG, I appreciate the welcome. Drive Safe. I know the feeling...I have a Yamaha R6. For fun, I fly Radio Control helicopters. I visit a few RC forums once in a while for information. They are much more impersonal and competetive than RWG. It seems the members of RWG actually go out of their way to make friends and provide help.
  10. Thanks everyone. I bought both watches at great prices. I knew the DJ couldnt be a genuine swatch/swiss movement at the price I paid (thanks to both sellers on RWG for nice watches).
  11. This is an awesome hobby. I appreciate all the info and friendships Ive made already. One example is a fellow musician, Phoband...great guy, great drummer...very helpful. Toad has been very nice to noobs also. Southwest sent me my first Rep in two days...mint condition. Chris at Eurotimez has answered my emails numerous times. After one month, Ive met two other local 'noob's from St. Louis, as we all awaited our first rep purchases to arrive. Sometimes I wonder if I am 'old school' for returning PM's and being grateful. Please ignore the few that are rude...there are many more that are appreciative.
  12. My first two reps were exactly as described by the RWG forum members. The first movement is a ladies DJ purchased two weeks ago, the second movement (pic #3) is a cheapo TT blue which I purchased a month ago while I wait for my Euromariner TT to be shipped. I used the 'ball of tape' method to remove the casebacks. I was happy to see the swiss movement inside the DJ! Ive read many posts about ETA...swiss, asian, swissnese...etc. The more I read, the more Im confused Where were the Gen Swiss ETA's produced that are found in some older reps? Where are the Euromariner's Gen Swiss 2836-2 produced? Am I correct that most of the movements are made in Asia, if so how can they be 'Gen' swiss ETA? Where was this swiss movement produced? Ladies DJ: ST6D inside Blue TT running strong after 4 weeks:
  13. Phoband is a great guy...excellent drummer btw. Very informative Post...take the time to read.
  14. Thanks guys! Ive learned so much from your posts Toad...thanks for all the work you've done! Each time I shoot a watch...it takes about six hours total including photoshop. Although I have two pro line, L series Canon lenses for sports...I dont have a good macro lens yet. Im using a Canon 10D, Tamron 2x converter on the cheapest Canon 35-80 lens in my camera bag...a freebie paperweight. Im not too happy actually...so now I want a good Canon macro lens...thanks to this new hobby Here are some more shots I took of my first Rep two weeks ago...(a cheapy while Im waiting for my Modded Euromariner from Chris) As soon as I get my Euromariner...I will post some new pics!
  15. This is a gift for my GF's birthday next week. Thanks to the RWG member that sold me this DJ with swiss movement.
  16. Cool!!!...that reminds me of a chameleon...but more white pearl!
  17. WOW...great JOB!!! that EVH is sweet. For two years I painted News Helicopters at an east st louis airport (heli inc). That looks like high quality automotive paint. My painting skills were never close to yours...I'd love to own a re-painted charv/lynch someday....I have a model 6 that I re-painted at work...deep greenblue flake 'vibrance' ppg collection paint ($$)...Im already sick of it...hmmm....? Cool thanks...I appreciate that! Ok...now Im going to have to be a RWG supporter...this site is too cool!!!
  18. Thanks...Its a Jackson through a Roland GR33...that I no longer have Id like to see your stuff...I love vintage san dimas charvs and jacksons. Where are you located? WOW...who painted this?...that is AWESOME http://www.paintyourownguitar.com/images/1...nbursttiger.jpg
  19. Thanks, I appreciate that from a fellow musician...yeah that Eric overdub is some funny stuff.
  20. Nice...but re-check your last lic...its close... Here is me playing zappa, genesis and yes... Here is my fusion band...Im playing guitar/synth...
  21. I tried wd-40...I like that more. Now Im tempted to do the olive oil! Too bad you have to get these wet though to clean them. Thanks CHT for the tips. Im sorry to hear about your watch problems. Im sure Chris will take care of it for you when he returns. Ive read other posts where people have had smaller issues and Chris went out of his way to send them the correct parts free of charge...etc.
  22. I use marvels mystery oil and a rag to wipe of the excess...no water. It was a vast improvement without too much hassle. I am a bit concerned...I paid 'dearly' for a Eurotimes Modded from Chris. I too have written an email concerning the progress on my order a week ago with no return email as of yet. I have read from another post that he is on a trip. I sure hope mine doesnt show up with these issues.
  23. I meant for this to post to be at what are you wearing monday. You may remove this post.
  24. My first rep...while I wait for my euromariner mod....Does this count since I dont work on monday mornings...or any mornings?...(musician)
