  1. There isn't exactly official words, medical language is just using Greek or was it Latin words to describe a condition, thats why you often see some real odd ones listed in those fact emails that get sent around. Hypophobia- fear of being under something Hyperphobia - fear of being above something. i doubt there is anyone with thise actual ones, as i just made it up as an example, but as long as you follow conventions, you're free to make your own word up. http://phobialist.com/phobia_names.html similar info is here, so you need to find a greek word that relates to being unknown, and you're done. you can see in the phobia list, http://phobialist.com/index.html quite a few odd ones where someone has coined the word before a cvase has actually happened
  2. i had seen trust explained as some sort of computation showing how close the speed was to the perfect 28.8k or whatever speed it runs at. There is a trust dial on the Bell & Ross Tourbillon
  3. Many times have i bored someone to tears passing on the latest horological news. Likewise, when i spot something interesting in the wild, i have a need to tell someone, i suppose it's a similar drive to a cat showing a newly caught mouse to its owner, despite the owner having no interest at all. I did notice a barman wearing a gold Rolex DJ yesterday, but i've kept that to myself, as i knew no one would understand the significance!

Ajoe - if you get them up yourself, let me know and i'll remove the others.
  5. I've just stumbled across this, and although it's nothing i'd wear myself, there are many familiar movements here! http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5000224
  6. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=88566 Similar to this one, same designer i imagine.
  7. 510 quid... That's a lot of money to throw at something you haven't got a clue about.
  8. The search for the holy grail continues
  9. At last, someone on the same track as me.
  10. wow, that's pretty inspiring. pity there are no working reps of a minute repeater! *that i know of
  11. OK, this might be something you know, but i'll say it anyway. I had an early Breitling emergency miyota quartz chrono that would reset the centre seconds to 6. i brought it to a jewelers to get some links removed, and he showed me how to reset. you need to pull the crown out to one of the positions, i am not sure which, then press one of the chrono buttons which will advance the reset point by one second each press
  12. Gen tritium tubes The 30 / GE always stood out as a little odd though
  13. The tritium lume was the best bit, shame about that
  14. If you wear it because you like it, you'll do fine, even if the guy does spot it, you can reel off what you know about Rolex, and how you collect watches (they still are a good investment). If you wear it to show it, glance at it a few times, fiddle with the bezel, pull your sleeve up, then you'll be taken as a wannabe. There are 101 reasons for having one, and if you have it for yourself, you have no problems!
  15. 1. The Set Up. Yes, i suppose if someone is after that, it might be better to let others know. I'm looking into buying an oscilloscope sometime soon, and a PC based one should be able to replicate these functions with a bit of programming, and a high gain quartz mic. After a while of getting used to it, you should be able to pick up bearing wear, damaged teeth, untrue gears. Could be a great tool!
  16. Looking at the 2, the gen to me has look like a drop of water on the glass. This leads me to think in a different way, either a different glass cement is used, or a different cyclops with a different refractive index is used. This might be an odd question, but is the cyclops on the Gen stuck on, or is it part of the same crystal, just milled and polished out of a bigger blank?
  17. OMG! that Concord is a heart stopper! As Slartibartfast said, Breitling aerospace I just love the modern look with italicised font Breitling Emergency The most James Bond-y of any watch around at the moment Bell Ross Aviation Notice a ani-digi theme here?
  18. I'd imagine any reps will use the BR03-94 chrono case with external pushers rather than a fancy crown operation, unless the aerospace/aviation movement is widely available. If any rep makers are looking for a new challenge ..
  19. come on! more guesses, free entry, and you can win a free jpg!
  20. I'd go with the one above the DW, for now, but there are very similar, (although common sense says the one that isn't above the date window is the new one that isn't stuck on!)
  21. http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/watch.asp?productid=4263 just seen this, and don't think i've seen it before. Ani-digital, looks like the same movement as the Breitling Aerospace, and i'm sure Miyota have a similar twin LCD movement! i've always like the aerospace, the B&R one ain't bad either!
  22. One of the common complaints among the rep market is the quality of the pearls, and often their inconsistancy. I'm a good way away from being WIS, and they all kinda look the same to me, so it'd be nice to see a collection of pics regarding what to look for. the centering is quite obvious, inside a marker triangle is possible the worst place to hide something off centre! the problems are with depth, colouration? if people have pics, post them up and say what is good and bad about them. it might be common knowledge to you, but me me they all look the same!
  23. Military Shades... Gotta get me some of them, i'm forever getting eye scratches and infections from dust
