  1. Interesting views, some of which i wouldn't have considered (panerai=eurotrash ?!?), but others, like a dislike of diamonds everywhere i can see
  2. A few times now, and spurred on by an advert i just looked at, i have seen reps of auto watches, that when copied, use a quartz movement, and they have "quartz" engraved on them instead of the usual automatic. I've only seen this on the casebacks so far, but i always thought it was odd to go as far as copying the watch down to the gen's name, but owning up to it having a quartz movement. Ok, i'm not calling the cartels "thieves" (although some may regard them as such) but it seem strange to go so far in replicating a watch and then let make a decision to have a giveaway on the back. Is it considered OK to rep a watch, and sell it as a rep, but not to inscribe automatic incase people are misled?
  3. That's ajoesmith http://www.rwg.cc/members/ajoesmith-m2248.html (nice avatar...) I hosted them as he had them on photobucket, and you can't embed PB on here, only youtube. Plenty of other vids too, the complete tutorial
  4. Just a little update, now the proud owner of a Sea Dweller and a Pam 253, and a vintage Slava is slowly heading this way from the Ukraine! And i'm a long way from being finished yet! If i get a decent camera, i'll get some pics, but i'm proud of my babys!

  6. A minute repeater is quite a collectable complication If a repeater of a similar design (the hands and dial are very close) is listed at 1300, i'd find it hard to believe the other one was valued at 2500

  8. This is a pic taken from a gen/rep review over on RG http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=22100 The most interesting point i have noticed is the height difference of the cyclops. The gen is on the left. I'm pretty sure it points to a different higher refractive index material used for the cyclops

  11. The target for the link is rwg.cc/index.html This redirects to http://www.buy404s.com/404.html?account=rwgadmin This then redirects to any advertiser linked with them Buy404 says "GET PAID FOR TRAFFIC YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW YOU HAD! How many times a day does someone ask for a file that doesn't exist on your server? It probably happens thousands of times per day. Why just show your surfer a simple "Sorry, cannot find the page you requested" message, when you can be paid for that traffic. We pay $4 for every 1000 browsers that are redirected by your server to us because of a "File Not Found"." In short, RWG is registered with buy404 which pay them for 404 errors which they direct to an advertiser. The problem is the RWG link points to an invalid index.html page, and as a result this gets passed on to buy404, and they pass it on to "advertisers" To fix, either change the target or create a page called index.html
  12. I'll have to open it up. It wasn't a new purchase, just new to me. The slant is quite small, it took me quite a while of looking at it to be sure, but once you see it, it's a curse! i'll have a look and see what it's like compared to the stem, that'll give me a good idea of where it needs moving from. Thanks one and all
  13. I have a SSD which has a very slight twist on the dial, very small, 1/10 second (so imagine the pearl triangle when centred is at 1/10 sec past 12) It is almost un noticeable, but i have seen it now, and you can see the 9 marker bar against the bezel 9 marker as being fractionally twisted. Now to fix this - i assume it's case back off, loosen the movement holder tabs and it should either fall into line or need a touch to square it, or would this be more to the dial mounting tabs (so stem out, and reset the dial holders, or is it just plain printing and that's the way it'll always be?
  14. 6541 is a Milgaus, so a mistake there, http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=89028 A cousin of this guy Edit - not a mistake as such, as it has no crownguards, MBW as described above from the famous POLEY engraving

  16. http://www.lussori.com/dior-chiffre-rouge-...watch-8443.html All black and black bracelet (rubber coated?) with silver edging, and 3 silver subdials at 3/6/and 9 silver non marked hour markers, and silver/white tachymetre data on an inner bezel, red second hand and red datewheel on black at 4.5 the lower chrono pusher is red and sitting in an odd collar, and the entire right hand side is more angular and non symetric curious styling, but quite striking at the same time
  17. down to 2 choices now, i have one definetely, and it's this baby's swimming partner left. I've taken a good few guesses now, so i'll pass it over, but at least it's brightened up a cold January day

  19. If you go to the Bell & Ross website, enter, choose service, then goodies, you can get some BR webclocks. The "undefined" section downloads something, i guess they are screen savers, and there is wall paper too
  20. The bottom hand is chrono hours. I'm not an expert, but there is 2 options, hopefully someone will confirm. 1st - the hrs hand resets when a hammer strikes a heart shaped cam on the wheel, the face of the hammer sits across the top, and the hand should be zeroed. posibility 1 would be the hammer is sitting on the heart wheel, but it hasn't slid/ spun to the rest position 2nd idea - if further uses of the chrono leave it sitting in the same place, then it could be the hand slipping, as the hammer strikes the heart wheel quite violently, which could spin the gear but slip the hand. As a result, many people say when finised with the chrono, run it till the secs are between 10/2 stop again, and reset, as the hammer is close to the heart wheel rest position, and there isn't much spinning to do. Technically, the chrono hrs would have been somewhere near this position, unless you had it running for 6 hours, so i'm not sure what that means. Anyone care to comment on my theories?
