  1. Sorry to hear your news and I cann't help but I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread. My (new arrival) AP ROO DOA, could this be a common problem with the AP ROO sec@12.

No probs. I have read some pretty decent reviews of the movement here at RWG, although the watchmaker I am using (ex rolex and omega guy) reckons it's awful?

All I can say is that the AP ROO I had has been nothing but trouble. Period. That being said other members seem very happy with theirs so maybe it's just a crap shoot?

  2. Hi guys....

So a few months ago I posted about my AP ROO "issues".... those being a $500+ AP ROO shipped to me from China in bubble wrap that proceeded to work for about a week and then promptly died. After numerous attempts to get it fixed by what can only be described as a lunatic here in Spain I finally tracked down (thanks to another RWG member) a very nice watchmaker in the UK that was willing to take a look at it.....

So, I spoke to the guy in the UK yesterday (he's had the piece for about 5 weeks now) and here's where I'm at......

In his opinion the A7750 seconds @ 12 movement in my AP ROO has expired, it is an ex movement. He doesn't think I should scrap it (nor do I!!!!!) and he is trying to track down a "reasonably priced" Swiss movement to get the watch up and running again... Hmmmmmmm, this IS gonna cost me!

So if anyone can help, here's what I am looking for....

Either a Swiss movement that will slot into the AP ROO and 're-animate' it.....

or another A7750 running seconds at 12 movement.....

If anyone has such movement(s) for sale or maybe knows where I (and my watchmaker friend) may track one down please drop me a line.

My watchmaker is obviously looking as well and I assume he has better contacts than me but hey, I haven't had my AP ROO on my wrist since November 08 and I'm rather sad about that!

Thanks for taking the time to read this B)

    Regards

  3. Hey all

Am seriously thinking about a Hublot Ice bang Full ceramic as my next purchase. Probably from Chris to be honest (nice new site btw)..

I know that some of you out there have this watch and I have a few questions/concerns that you may be able to help me with so here goes.....

Is the ceramic delicate? How robust is the watch? Do I need to be extra careful etc.

The bezel is PVD coated as is the deployment clasp. Do they wear well, is do they have a tendency to scratch at all? I usually stick to SS as if you do scratch it there's nothing 'underneath' to show up. My worry with the 'grey' PVD coating is that the odd 'ding' or scratch will really show up due to the steel underneath?

Lastly, the bezel on the rep has 'teeth'.... shouldn't it be smooth? Saw a pic on the Hublot site and it looks like a different bezel?

I really like the watch but given the price tag I thought I'd do some digging around first of all. Hope you can help.

Also, has anyone dealt with bbhaven and if so what are they like (service, QC etc)

Cheers guys, hope you are all having a good one!

  4. held up very well

I had a major issue with mine, although I now think it may have been how it was shipped (bubble wrapped and not in a case). Anyway, I had a $500 AP ROO that lasted about a month and then died. It is, as we speak, being 'fixed' to the tune of about

  5. Same here? I have two of them! Did you buy it from our dealers here? BTW: The Zigmeister is in Canada, Don't call him an American, he might get offended :o ! :D !

Nope, didn't use one of the dealers here Unfortunately this was pre-forum for me. (Am currently trying to buy a Hublot from Pure Time but their secure server keeps crashing!.... Am I just cursed or what?)

I got the ROO via a site called 'Trade Tang' and a supplier called Fashiontime88 (I got a rolex Daytona from them a few months prior, running seconds at 6.... no probs..... but the ROO just fell apart!!!! I won't be straying from the dealers here from now on.

PS - Sorry The Zigmeister! I'm a Brit what can I say:)

    HELP!!!!!!! Someone........

  6. Hi Alex!

    First welcome to RWG!

Sorry to hear about your AP ROO movement problem! I have a few of those and so far, so good! We've been thru your quandary before we found this place! If you had dealt with your dealer before and he is a standup guy, I would send it back to him to be repaired! Our dealers here would fix it with no problems! If you decide to have it done outside of your dealer, our resident expert on your type of movement, ASIA 7750 is The Zigmeister! He could fix that with no problem......, but the problem is would he have time to do it! You mite wanna post a request for him! I don't think you could PM him being new and all! DO a search, too on

service and repair and I'm pretty sure you'll find some excelletn info!

Good luck and again, Welcome! This is a good place to stay!

    Hike!

    Thanks for the info

Think I will try to get hold of The Zigmeister, sounds like the best bet. Dealer has supplied great pieces but his after service ain't so great.

    Many thanks

    Alex

  7. Hi guys

Not sure if anyone can help with this one but.....

I recently purchased an AP ROO seconds @ 12 from a seller called Fashiontime88 via Tradetang for about 500USD. I have purchased from this guy before (Daytona, Panari) and have had no problems. However the AP is a different story!

For the first 2-3 days it was fine, better than that, an amazing copy..... then it started to loose time and stop. I never over wound it and was very careful with it. Eventually it died and now it runs for about 5-10 mins then stops regardless of being wound (interestingly enough, if you 'tap' the face it starts up again after it has stopped but only for a minute or two it is as if the power from the spring is not getting to the gears?)

So, basically I have a nice AP paperweight at the moment. Lucky me.

My question - does anyone know if, how and where I can get the watch fixed. If I ship it back to China I am pretty sure I'll never see it again and to be honest I'd like to get it fixed if possible. I live in Europe (UK and Spain) but would be prepared to send it to the US if there was a good chance of getting it sorted out.

Great forum btw, wish I'd have stumbled upon it sooner. Very informative.

    Thanks

    Alex
