  1. not true......i see it at the ADs every day. i know what you mean though. i think the one with gold dials & hands has a very white dial. but the one with blue hands FOR SURE exists with the same silver/grey dial. however, the blue hands and numbers are a tad darker on the gen. simon
  2. to be honest, i don't like it.
  3. oh my god this is really nice. well-spent money!!!
  4. the datewheel looks very sunken....
  5. btw he also has a rose gold with black dial, however i think this is a fantasy as the gen black dial one comes with white gold. simon
  6. you know, it doesn't really bug me as the narikaa PO is so cheap. it would really bug me though if this was a $350 rep! for this price, i even think the clown feet are funny and make it special. i like the narikaa PO so much that i gave it to relume and double AR. i love that watch!!!
  7. gen: hxxps://www.iwc.com/messepopup_2009/novelties09/vint_coll_portofino_hand_wound-de.asp rep: http://img.villagephotos.com/imageview.aspx?i=25666017 best simon
  8. gatchaman, are you saying the new batch has a clown foot fix? the pictures by mtv2009 dont show that.... thanks simon
  9. hey it looks like the font on the datewheel is whiter on this new batch. simon
  10. actually, this may be impossible, since the "ulysse nardin" and the "officially certified chronometer" writing is on the brushed part of the dial. darned.
  11. i had the same idea....would be so cool if that was possible somehow!
  12. ok now that i know that i would need to cut off the metal stick, my other question is: what about the thickness of the gen / rep dial? i have one of joshes BP 5002 which came with the raised dateheel. it seems the gen dial is so thick, maybe the datewheel will maybe even have to be lowered again? can anyone comment? i would love to do that modification. best simzger
  13. hello! i could get my hands on a gen iwc big pilot 5002 dial. thus, i am thinking about a gen dial swap. now i am wondering...: - did anyone of you ever do that? - has anyone ever heard of someone doing that? - is it easy? one thing i noticed is that the gen dial has a little metal stick coming out at the back of the dial (or even two?). and the gen dial is pretty thick. so i am really wondering whether this would work. thanks simzger
  14. interesting, i did not know that.
  15. hi there, has anyone ever heard of or done a gen dial swap on a 5002? the gen dials have two "feet" on the back, i don't know about the rep though... does anyone know if it can be done, if any mods are needed first to fit it? thanks simon
  16. i am still a noob, but: for that kinda money, you won't get a working chrono! maybe a quartz though...
  17. I think the "not transporting the datewheel" problem and the "messing up the a7750 movement by setting the date at the wrong time" are two different problems. I think if the latter is the case, then the movement is messed up deep inside and opening up and repositining the datwheel won't do anything. Maybe someone who knows more can help. Simon
  18. hello valerian, i think we're talking about two different problems: 1) the exchange of the datewheel....i am about to get it done as well, but i'm not doing it myself...the chances that i mess up are just too big. however, there are swiss watchsmithes working with reps...i am from switzerland as well. just check the yellow pages, find a freelancing watchsmith, they're doing pretty much everything 2) the broken day- and date-setting gears are a different problem, i don't know anything about it, i think it will break something inside the movement, saw it in one of The Zigmeister's disassemblings of the a7750. however, i would be interested how you can check whether it is broken or not. and if it IS broken, are the parts available to fix it or can even eta 7750 parts be used. simon
  19. dear zigmeister, thanks a lot for the answer. another weirdness is that i can still set the day-wheel via the crown. it doesn't go easy though and also, the day names are then not straight aligned but somewhere in between two days. even though i can set it via crown, the day does not change if the time passes 12 o'clock. maybe i did mess up the gearings? because i tried to set the day and date when it was 11:30.....how can i find out whether that gearing is broken or not? if it's broken, are parts available at a good watch smith? thanks simon
  20. Hello Today I looked at my IWC 3717 and saw that on my day-wheel, the day was in the middle between Saturday and Sunday. As it was 11:30am I thaught I just add 12 hours and everything would be fine...however, nothing happened, whenever it passed 12 o'clock the day wheel just wouldn't move. So I put the crown in one step to go into day and date setting mode...however, I think i forgot to put it on 5:30 before i did that. So now everything is totally messed up. The day-wheel is totally stuck. I can still get it to move but it is very hard and the crown starts to slip, meaning there is a clicking sound in the crown even though the day-wheel does not move. So my questions are: 1) What do you think happened here? 2) Is the movement maybe broken because i tried to set the date between 10 and 2? (did i break the gears?) 3) If that is the case, can the movement be fixed by a good watchsmith, or is it hard to get the replacement parts for that? Thank you very much! Simon
  21. peter at iwatchstation sells these.
  22. i've been to GZ at the watch market, it was very cool. very, very cool! the good reps are definitely there, but in the upper floors in the offices, not on the ground level in the display boxes. you need to have contacts though to the people in these upper floor offices selling high quality reps. i could give you one of a lady that makes good price...she has all the reps. or you could try hont. when i was there i also had an interpreter as i don't speak chinese. it's very helpful! simon
  23. i'm very excited about this, i also have a guy in EU that may be able to do it, he's an optician though and i don't know if it's the same type of AR as the one used for watches. it would be the coolest if we had someone in EU to do it.
