    Franken 024A

Beautiful FGD. Anything The Zigmeister touches turns into a masterpiece. How does your 199 crystal & cyclops compare to mine? I'm considering picking it up. But I'm not sure it'll make a difference. Also, the 199 crystal I'm looking at has AR on it. Was the AR removed from yours? I would think it wouldn't be trivial since the cyclops is there.

Thanks The Zigmeister PM and email sent.
  4. Found the link. I hope its ok to link off of paneristi. http://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/message/1241022058/FS-+MINT+PAM+24A+SUBMERSIBLE+(ducatiboy)
  5. The caseback for the gen 24a I've looked at has 30 ATM.

Thanks Chief. You're the expert and your comments mean alot. I'll see where this one takes me. Appreciate the offer and will let you know. Yes the crown guard is gen.
  7. I'd like to share with you my latest (and most likely my last) purchase. The gen 24A is on my grail list. When P-A (on RG) put his franken 24a up for sale I was all over it. P-A is one of the coolest guys I've dealt with here. Thanks P-A for this amazing watch. The original crown that came with it was a standard rep crown. And the crown guard, even though gen, the lever wasn't entirely flush with the crown guard body. These things really bugged me...so, I ended up upgrading with a T48 crown and a new A series gen crown guard (modded to fit the T crown). Kudos to the members with the write up on removing the stem from the 7750. I almost screwed up the keyless until I read your posts. Big thanks. Here are the specs with the upgrades: Correct case set with polished bezel Correct A series case back Gen 24a T dial Gen 24a T hands Gen crown guard Lello date wheel T48 crown Swiss 7750 (This is such a BONUS) The one other thing I'd like to improve on is the cyclops. I'd like to replace it with a more stronger cyclops (in terms of magnification). But I can't seem to locate one. Thanks guys for looking and always looking for comments/suggestions on making this even better. Also for you guys that's been around...what's the story behind this one. I don't see too many of these reps around. Did the cartel use to make them at one point and just stop? Also the hands, I notice on other subs (reps and gens) there's cap on top of the hand stack. Any one know anything about this? On to the pics...
  8. The strap on the PVD is an ammo strap from JR on paneristi. His straps are very nice...the prices have gone up a bit though since I got it...but still affordable compared to others.
  9. Thanks everyone. klocklind1, short answer is around 5 months. I bought my very first "real" rep sometime in April of this year. It was an 002 with rep dial with jimmy fu case. It had an 001 B series caseback. This was the beginning of it all =@
  10. The man himself...Thank you Zigmeister!!
  11. Thanks everyone for all your comments. It really adds to the satisfaction of completing these guys. And at this time I have no intentions of selling. But if I do you'll all know. Thanks again.
  12. Yes...I am nuts...I don't deny it I agree I could have bought a gen...and I do own some...but buying a gen just isn't as fun as building (and wearing) your own. The thrill of getting the part and getting it as near perfect as possible...and all the things you learn when putting it all together...to some it'll probably sound nuts
  13. Thanks FGD. The Zigmeister is an amazing guy I have sent my 27A to him and I'm speechless at what he can do. This is something I will consider. And yes I definately have frankenpamaddictionitis...that and the fact that I'm anal about using all the available part I have.
  14. Thanks. I would love to see your projects. For me the parts were not easy to obtain. I had no "real" contacts....so I basically scoured the sales forum and got lucky. Alot of time (and alot of misses later) I was able to score what I needed. Please keep us posted with your work. I think this is it for me as well...I plan on taking a break for a while. My other passion is building vintage pams. But I've seem to reach my limit there as well.
  15. Like to share some frankens I built/modded. To me there's nothing like old school sausage dial with closed case backs I love the simpleness and hardiness of the 6497. I expect these guys to run for a long time and I've learned the skills to keep these guys ticking. It took me quite a while to accumulate all the parts I needed. My original goal was to build one 001 and one 002. But in trying to get all the parts I ended up picking some duplicate items. Next thing you know, I'm trying to gather up the parts to complete the duplicate ones as well. But now I can finally call these projects complete. First up 001Bs... 01B (Left) Gen dial Gen hands Jimmy Fu case Jimmy Fu crown guard T48 crown AR removed sapphire Hamilton 892 movement with upgraded cp and hour wheel Correct thick B series case back 01B_2 (Middle) Gen dial Gen crown guard DSN C3 handset Jimmy Fu case T48 crown AR removed sapphire Swiss 6497 from Otto Frei with upgraded cp and hour wheel Correct thick B series case back 01B_3 (Right) Gen dial Gen hands Jimmy Fu case Modded rep crown guard with latch from V crown guard T48 crown Sapphire with K2222 double AR (loving the double AR) Asian engraved 6497 with upgrade cp and hour wheel (runs urprisingly better than all my swiss) Correct thick B series case back Next up 002s... PVD 02D (Left) Fine pics PVD (supposedly PVD by the same factory used by Panerai - pencil gray color) Gen dial Gen hands Rep case Jimmy Fu crown guard Palp crown AR removed sapphire Swiss 6497 from otto frei with upgrade cp and hour wheel Correct DSN D series case back This one was bought as is and needed some loving. I wanted to try a PVD in my collection. I must admit I am not a PVD guy. This watch was picked up from a member. However, after I purchased I found it wasn't perfect. The movement was a cheapo movement with a broken stem stuck inside it. I ended up swapping out the movement, upgraded the cp and hour wheel, and reassembled. 02D (Middle) [*]Gen dial [*]DSN C3 handset [*]DSN D series case [*]Gen crownguard (modded) [*]Palp crown [*]AR removed sapphire [*]Swiss 6497 from otto frei with upgrade cp and hour wheel [*]Correct DSN D series case back 02C (Right) [*]Gen C series Caseset (case, crown guard, crown, case back, crystal with gen AR) [*]Gen dial [*]Gen hands [*]Soprod ETA 6497 movement Big THANKS to the forums, members, and all the knowledge contained within this community. Without you guys none of this would be possible
  16. There was a thread on the 063 on RG. And it seems the 063 is sold out. So you may be able to demand a higher price I'm thinking $201
  17. Nice find. That's the whole package right there.
  18. Beautiful destro. The dial color paired with that strap is a killer combination. Very nice.
  19. Excellent work Merlin...bravo.
