  1. Who's the seller? That can speak volume's about it's quality. Jack
  2. The 2836-2 is the one that keeps getting mentioned when talking about the V2, I got the 2678-2 number off by-tor's review of the V2, in one of the comments. This was just a curiosity, I have the 2824-2 and I'm going to try to do a gen Date Wheel overlay in my V3. But I'm still curious to see how they did drive the date wheel with the smaller movement in the V2. Jack
  3. Hello all, I tried to find some pictures of the movement in the WM9 V2, dial side, in the search function, but no luck. I was curious how the date wheel was driven. The reason I'm trying to find out is I have just bought a gen DW for my V3 and Tribal responded to a PM that he got one to work in a V2 after alot of sanding to make it an overlay. I was curious if the ETA 2678-2 had more room to play with or if the clearance between the movement and the underside of the dial was the same. Any help? Jack
  4. Hello watcher, I'm getting ready to have my V3 modded with gen dial, bezel assembly, crystal and gasket, crown and tube. Took forever to get all the parts, but got it done. The one part that was a concern to me was the date wheel. I was thinking that my only option was a BK overlay or keeping the WM9 piece, but it sounds like you came up with a third option. But just to be clear, your case is a V2? How would the DW you used fit in the V3 with the ETA movement? I'd hate to buy the thing and have it not work with my build; or worse yet, cause problems with the movement. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jack
  5. Tribal, I wanted to ask you a question about the SEL mod you did, but your not receiving any PM's; is there a chance you could drop me a line at: jack@cmspan.net Jack
  6. Looking at these comparison photos of stripped down cases by BK, it sure does look like more than some of the dimensions mentioned elsewhere... Jack
  7. No, I haven't had a V2 to compare to a V3, but the review of the V2(at the top of The Rolex Area forum)done by By-Tor talks about the vertical crown height being wrong. That's what I'm referring to. That and the fact the V2 had the small movement are the reasons I waited and bought a used V3 to super-franken out. Jack
  8. Wow, beat up the new guy just trying to share his collection....
  9. Hey d-rock, As much as you and I are investing in our super-franken's, don't be tempted to put the V1 band on your new V3. You're right, on the wrist, it would be hard to tell, but why have an obvious tell on a very expensive rep build? It would be a good fill in until you can get a V2 or V3 band, but once you see it next to the V2 you already have, you'll see. When people notice and ask about my gen, I take it off and hand it to them to have a closer look. I want to feel that comfortable with my rep after it's done. When the watch is off the wrist is when you would notice the solid mid-links. Also, you really ought to consider the gen tube for your V3 build, it would help with the look of the crown to the case that was mentioned in a link above. BTW, did you get my last email? Jack
  10. Also keep in mind the height of the crown(on a side view of the case) is wrong on the V2. Pound for Pound, the V3 is still the king. Jack
  11. Yeah, but keep in mind that the V1 has solid mid links according to all the threads. It might look better, but in my mind it's an easy tell. Jack
  12. Was I seeing it wrong or does this thing have a stretched band??? I'm looking at the first link next to the case.

  14. Specially since Costco is now an AD. So much for pulling back. Jack
  15. Yes, gen assembly that supposedly will fit 16710 and 16760. Jack
  16. Just heard from BK, the C2 is the gasket for the sub, the C1 is for the YM. Crystals are the same. Thanks BK and all of you for your input, Jack
  17. Hello everyone, I curious if anybody knows whether or not a GMT bezel assembly, specifically the crystal retaining ring and the bezel, would fit on a submariner? The GMT assembly is designed to fit the model 16710 or 16760, and I'm building up a 16610. Let me know, Thanks, Jack
  18. Well this turned into an interesting discussion; C1 or C2 allgoat, thank you for the link. Cousins sure is a resource. Dee, I'm waiting to here from the dealer until tue, closed today. I bought a gen tube for $90 already and he's going to look at his inventory for a used crown in very good condition(he has a new sealed one for $190!). I'm going to send a PM to BK, I'm asking him to do the work on my super-franken, to see what he would prefer. Jack
  19. Be prepared to spend $350 to $450 for a gen dial. I just bought a gen black, late model dial for $400. Is it worth it? Once you've seen a gen dial up close, it would be hard to go back to reps. Jack
  20. Well, that definitely helped. And that number is for the late model, etched crown version? Jack
  21. Hello everyone, I've been shopping for a gen crystal for my v3 and the part number I've run across several times for the 16610 sub crystal is 25-295-c2. I'm curious if that number is for a late model crystal with the micro etched crown? Anybody know? Thanks for your help, Jack
  22. vlydog, drop me a line at jack@cmspan.net. Can't send you a PM. Jack
  23. Thanks guys for the input, it finally puts to rest the question about what I need to search for if I want to do the gen bezel thing. If this watch had come with the original V3 bezel and insert, I wouldn't be doing this. The crap that came installed on the watch was embarrassing, I should have returned it, but I had plans to do the franken thing anyway, just not to this level. I've already got the gen crown, dial, insert and crystal; if I could find a V3 bezel, I think I'd stop there, but they appear to be as rare as a gen. Again, thanks for all your help, Jack
  24. Nobody out there has done this mod? That speaks highly of the V2 and V3 bezel from WM9. Jack
  25. Hey guys, Curious if any of you have, or know of anyone who has, installed a gen submariner bezel on a WM9 submariner V3? I'm trying to find a gen bezel/bezel assembly for my V3 and was curious if a gen bezel will fit properly on the WM9 crystal retainer or if I need the whole assembly to do it right. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jack
