  1. Well, I disagree that Rolex movements are "over-hyped". I don't think there is a non-Swiss movement out there that honestly can compare? A Chinese movement more accurate than a Rolex movement???

While I agree the over-hyped comment in the OP is BS (see my post higher up), don't discount "Grand Seiko", or "Seiko Spring Drive". Since we are talking cars and countries (Japan), there is your Lexus comparison. ;) Technologically, and reliability wise right now, I would probably have to give a Seiko Spring Drive the edge over the current Rolex movement offerings.

But again, NOTHING wrong with Rolex movements IMHO.

  2. They are all potential 'keepers' but the least believable (just from a rarity perspective) would be the DRSD.

See my "Superdome...." post. I am faced with a similar dillema on my project bench. I am going 'White' for now, since I think I can build a more believable franken with the parts I have.

That said...I would still probably throw my hat in the ring for the auction- whichever one you decide to sell. ;):whistling:

  3. I have to agree with F333 and some of the others. This came as a surprise to me, as I was considering Avitt for some PVD services down the road. From what I am seeing above, I am guessing it was less about product/delivering on the goods, and more rules/political/personal???

A little more transparency would be nice. At another watch forum I frequent there is a "Banned Members" thread. It is a non-emotional, non-confrontational thread locked to the Mod's. In short, when someone is banned, a simple one or two line reason is stated. Perhaps RWG could consider this?

    Example(s):

Member: ABC123 banned for spamming the forum

Member: XYZ321 banned for not following forum rules / trolling

Member: JoeBlo asked to be banned for not agreeing with the terms of service

Member: RipOff banned for failure to deliver goods sold, ripping people off

Member: Dealrr banned for excessive non-approved dealing

    Just a thought...

  4. FYI, Superdome is correct original crystal for a 5 mil 1665

Excellent, this works to my advantage for the project I am piecing together from my parts bin. (I am holding off on building a "Red", because I think I can assemble a more accurate/believable "White" instead.)

@Nanuq - any chance you have some good pics of the HEV valve on your gens?

    Thanks,

  5. Pressed for time, so no time to search around VRF/TRF, etc...

Question for the experts: Is a superdome correct for a late 1970's (1977) white Sea-Dweller 1665 in the high 5mil serial number range?

I know with the 16660 that the crystal changed, and in doing some other research I have seen late 1665's with what appears to NOT be a superdome.

    Thanks gang,

  6. At first glance/impression my mind immediately jumped to thinking about the mens clothing company Haggar. Not sure if it is an American market only thing, but there might be a "fashion plate" perception / tie-in to the clothing company. :g:

The insert looks identical to what comes on MBW's.

I would love to see the full 5517 metal bezel, less text, AND if it had NO crown guards which would make it unique and not just a typical homage like the MkII's, etc.

Love to see people stepping out and going for it. Best of luck! :good:
