Is it me, or does Jean Alesi's subdial spacing look off. 7750?

Genuine Rolex GMT hand is .17mm. What are the sizes for the other 3 gen hands?
aka 170 right?
-
My notes show the hand sizes for that movement to be: 130 / 90 / 22 (don't have GMT size handy). Good luck finding Mercedes hands that look right in the hour and seconds department.
-
IIRC, getting hands for this will be the biggest challenge as they are neither Miyota/DG sized or ETA sized.
-
Wow, where did you get that strap from for the 177? I've got the 176M and my black alligator looks nowhere near as good.
The IWC at the start of the thread gets the vote from me.
Strap is GEN.
P.S. There is a good chance I will be listing that watch for sale as I have not worn it in months.

Sorry about the hijack. Agreed, that Yuki case is NOT the GOOD YUKI case.

Interesting, I like the result.

Welcome to "Club 27" Amy... (Shame, when she was 'functional' she was a talented singer).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club
The 27 Club, also occasionally known as the Forever 27 Club or Club 27, is a name for a group of influential rock music artists who died at the age of 27. The impetus for the club's creation were the deaths of Jones, Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison, and[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club#cite_note-0] Cobain...

Popped into an AD while running some errands today.
They had a most current Submariner 14060M. Guess what? It has a 704 that looks IDENTICAL to the crown on my 1680. Once again, just when you think you have it all figured out, Rolex changes it up. I will still put my 703 on it someday, just to be more period. Only a matter of time before RSC starts using 24-704's on everything.

Love me some vintage Seiko's.

Date wheel as well... Flagged.

Also, just measured a GEN 702 that has been polished. 2.95 mm visible notches, and a total width of 3.65.
Just measured a GEN 703 NON-Mono, that has 3.14mm visible notches, and total width of 3.68.
So, I think what we may also have here is-- we are used to seeing the slimmer profile and less "grooved/notched" area on the 700/702 and 703 NON-Mono's. When we see the increased area of the Monoblocks we think it is too wide.
-
I came up with the exact same 3.75 and 3.85 measurements on the 3 crowns I have.
Perhaps we are falling victim to camera angles, and "Macro Mode Analysis Paralysis"?
-
ALL THREE of these have supposedly GEN "Monoblock" crowns. The 5513 however looks to be smaller (703 mono?, and the 1665/1680 704's ???)
If I were a betting a man, I would like to think the 5513 has a 24-703-monoblock, and the 1665/1680 have 24-704's. The only aftermarket crown that comes close to these are BK's, and something that came accross Justasgood's desk.
-
@ Freddy333, Monoblock, No? (I have/had 3 of these from a reliable source).
-
Ronin - Your crown looks too big (wide). You definitely need a gen for that watch.
josechano - The inner flange looks fine to me. I would do a bit of reshaping of the CGs though (look too new for a vintage Sub).
It is Gen, Monobloc 703/704. I have a non-Monoblock here that I will most likely swap out.
-
If that picture is from yuki then they must have fixed it.
Huh? Not following you.
-
Here is a version 1 aka earlier version of the same Yuki case. That case does look a little thinner, and the crown guards look different. There were some documented issues with the Yuki 1680 recent version, including glued tubes, and not fitting gen movements very well.
Here is mine for comparison.

Wicked cool. I have never seen one until your post.
I am still kicking around selling my Gen black dialed version.

Grail for sure!
The Canadians customs loss kills me. Did you you have to prove to someone it was real?
Great watch!

Interesting.
I think this is more of a reflection on the current speed of life, and state of technology. Zoom out- things are moving pretty fast these days. We expect a new iPhone or other tech item every year. Technological advances everywhere bring things to market quicker, and in the case of reps, with incredible accuracy.
I think we have simply reached the point on the graph where the line is going nearly vertical. Excellent reps are expected, they exist, not much else to do but grab-n-go. Commodity? Accessibility is there too, so when 10 people get the new PAM in the same month-- wham-bam-thank you ma'am. Here are some pics, a quick discussion, and move along. The poor guy who picks one up 4 months later is simply old-hat.
I honestly don't come here looking for "Reps" anymore, or even care that much what is happening in that space. I come here for the WIS Knowledge base, and to see what "creations" we are are making. To me this is a WATCH forum that happens to be Rep friendly.
Crazy Idea: We are also bad hosts at times. Too often we are quick to dismiss something because it has been discussed before and yell at people to use the Search function. So here is my crazy idea-- NUKE the majority of archived, historical posts. Half the stuff is out of date anyway. Press the RESET button on the forum and see what "re-grows" organically.

Amazing...
Would you call it a SCAM (attempt)?

The ETA/Valjoux 7750 is like an Aircooled Volkswagen engine. Tons of variations over the years. The criteria the OP used to discount the movement and discredit Andy simply does not hold water.
This whole thing seems silly. If the I received a GEN 7750 with proper Rotor for the price paid, and if it keeps good time, I would be thrilled.
I think I need to side with Andy on this one.
