  1. Interesting:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/...ME:B:SS:US:1123

I appreciate the honesty but have to wonder if the TRF/VRF guys will flag it down. Is this anyone here?

Also, given the honesty-- do you feel this is an OK auction? Personally, I am cool with Frankens on the 'bay if the seller is forthright.

    Here is the Auction Description.

Ok folks let me start by saying that this a genuine rolex tudor submariner, made in 1967. The serial number is 597112 the style number is 7928/0. The production date( taken from the numbers on the inside of the case back is 11.67). I believe the 2 ones are actualy roman numerals, that means this watch was made in the 2nd quater of 1967. I have had this watch for nearly 20 years. It sat in my drawer for ten years. About 10 years I decided to fix the watch up and it give it to my son. So here is what I did. Let me preface by saying I am a watch repair man with limited skills. However by doing repairs I met and became friends with several genuine rolex certified repairmen. Also through my jewelry store connections I was able to contact a dial shop in dallas to refinish dials for me. So here we go. When I got this watch it was in terrible condition. The bracelet was twisted and bent. The plastic crystall was so scratched you could hardley see through it. However the hands, dial, bezel and insert were in surprisingly good condition, as was the caseback and movement. The case tubes on these watches were supposed to keep them water tight, however after several years they did not do the job. So the first thing I did was to replace the case tube with the later model, that made it watertight. The next thing I did was to have the dial refinished to say rolex, big mistake. I now know I should have left it alone because today these watches are more valuable in all original condition. The next thing I did was to replace the plastic crystal with a sapphire cystal. This is pretty cool how I did this. I took a 1500 series short gasket, put it on the case, then I took a 1700 series tall sub gasket and placed it over the first one. Then I popped the crystal into it and pressed the bezel over it. It is water tight. The braclet I threw in a drawer and can,t find it, I will continue to look. The end pieces were so bent, by the time I got them straight enough to fit, I polished off the 58 number which I now know is significant. The bracelet is a nice aftermarket stainless submariner, not real, but in good condition. The original end pieces are attached to the braclet. I am selling the head and throwing the bracelet in the deal. So here is what we have. Original, case, 390 movement, ( in perfect working order, complete c.o.r. in sept 09) caseback with all stamping, bezel, insert, hands and crown. The dial will only fit the 390 movt, but has been refinished. Any questions please call me at 214 808 5418. My son needs some money, that is the only reason we.re selling it. Please call before you bid so I can answer any questions you have, SHIPPING IS FOR THE USA ONLY. So in summary I must say this is a very nice watch to wear. It keeps perfect time, it winds very smoothly, it will run for 36hours, and it really looks nice with the sapphire crystal. I think it is a good price for a very nice watch that looks just like the new ones. I have tried to be completley honest about the description and feel that I may have made it seem worse than it is, but I feel it is important to give as accurate description as possible. You will be pleased. Thanks for looking and don't forget to call, ask for Matt

  2. I love the Tron concept. I remember after seeing Tron writing programs/games on my Commodore 64 to play "Light Cycles". Granted it was little more than a simple Sprite "Snake" collision game. But it inspired me none the less.

I also felt similar to you @stormtrooper4 about Blade Runner, the first time I saw it was the 'narrated' version. Yuk. Now the final version, and the BluRay re-master is incredible and I have seen it about 5 times.

  3. Excited yes. I had the stand up arcade game in my basement for about 5 years.

With the exception of Avatar I have come to HATE, HATE, HATE 3D Movies. Largely do to the post-production, gimmick, charge extra at the box office bull $hit.

However, I have high hopes for Tron as a 3d movie, as the source material makes it the perfect candidate. :thumbsupsmileyanim: (But honestely, it will probably be the last 3D movie I pay for, I simply find the format distracting and a gimmick.)

  4. I will keep you posted Chief, I am heading down my buddy's store shortly. Will get prices.

If you have not had red wine casked Scotches you are in for a treat. I got hooked on Port Barrel based ones about a year ago. Also the Sherry casks impart great flavors. I am dying to try the D'Yquem based ones. I have had both a 1967 D'Yquem and 1983 D'Yquem in the last year or so, and the wine is a rock star for dessert....

    I will keep you posted.

  5. Yep, pull it apart, measure the current dial, but also measure the case ID @ the Rehaut for both minimum (visible) and maximum dial size. I have seen rep case able to accommodate up to a 2mm variance in dial size.

Also, even though they are designed for Seiko's there are a lot of cool dials offered by Noah Fuller and Yobokies. (Google). Soxa, Milspecs, Explorer style. Cut the feet and use dial dots.

  6. I am the Yogavangelist. Never underestimate the power of yoga as the ultimate cross-training tool. If you do the hard, physical kind...it's a blast and great for party tricks.

Helps with recovery, strength, balance, everything.

Excellent. I have some Rodney Yee Power Yoga vids to check out, as soon as I can bend at the waist again.... :good:

so hey was anyone ever able to d/l these p90x VDOs ? i'm too cheap to buy 'em but need 'em to make an Xmas present nonetheleess :D

As Toad said, you can Torrent P90X Plus with all the documentation and vids already converted to iProducts mp4 format. If you use Firefox (as everybody should ;) ), download the extension FireTorrent, then search "P90X Torrent". You should be able to leach it that way pretty easy.

  8. As to the 3135, if you can get one for 600.00 USD , buy a bunch, because you can sell all you can find for 800-900 USD and make a 300 USD profit on every one! When you said you bid 600, that's not the same as winning one for 600. Over the last month, i bid on probably 10-15 older datejusts specifically for a 1570 movement. most of those sat around 300-600 USD until the last few minutes of the auction, and in a couple of minutes the prices jumped from 600 to 1500. I ended up buying a movement off a VRF member. So if I were you, I would expect to pay 1500-2000 USD for a good serviced 3135. My advice to you. Save your modding money and get a genuine

Tell me about it. I look daily for something inexpensive enough to make my 1680(Gen White Dial) Project fit within the 20% rule. It is not happening. Might as well budget $1500 for a serviced/or excellent 1570 movement. Probably true for a 3135. Sigh.... :(

  9. I have done P90X Three times in two years. It is a great system. In the summer months, I tend to be all lower body (Running, Cycling, and Kung-Fu), but in the Winter it gives me a great opportunity to work the upper body and balance myself out.

However, I just started it back up yesterday, and managed to pinch/tweek my Sciatic Nerve by being stupid and not properly lifting and moving my dumbbells. I am the dumbbell. :bangin: As soon as I heal, looks like I may just go back to Yoga and Tai Chi before jumping back to weights.

    Good form is key!

  10. Got the blue titanium from Ronin the other day. I love the combination of titanium and the blue and Yobokies sapphire dome with AR makes it stand out. My personal favorit at the moment, and unfortunately my girlfriends favorite too...

That is interesting. It was my wifes favorite as well. In fact, I wanted to sell it sooner and she made me wait. :)

    Your collection looks great!!! :tu:
