WOW thats a pretty picture!
+1 to that comment! Awesome!
-
And the SNA411a:
Definiatly one on the way soon. Gray market ones are dirt cheap ATM.
Col.
That's like the most complicated dial in the world!! lol
What are all the numbers for?!
-
Ahhh, thank you, I think I recall reading about that before on here
They're supposed to overlap slightly, aren't they?
-
Rolex Quartz 5100 with the Beta 21 movement.

*n00b question*
What's wrong with the subdial in that pic? Looks fine from here! lol
-
So he's a bit poor then...
-
I'm not sure if WM9 has some??
-
Yes. A few weeks. There are a lot of sub-sections to this Board .. not easy.
As a recent n00b myself, I'd allow at least 2 months of reading the board to get familiar with all the terms and what's available. This will mean that you don't buy a pup and regret it!
-
This has definitely been asked before - have a search!
-
Gnargh, I'm in a dilemma! lol
Chris and his team have sent through the pics, including a macro one of the subdial as I asked for
but it appears that the white faced ones can suffer with a very thin outside ring to bottom half the subdial, to the point of being missing in some cases - I think I can see it in nicewatches' photos a little earlier too, as well as in Mick's original pictures, and now I'm worried if it's going to be too noticeable or going to lessen my enjoyment of it
Should I swap to the black faced version? Lani's shots show that the black one seems to have much better printing on the subdial rings than the white faced ones, but I did want a white one!
This is my first rep, though, so perhaps I'm expecting too much
If Mick and nicewatches can reassure me that it really isn't noticeable then I will give Chris the go-ahead to get it shipped - I can't wait!

I made a few orders with "Andy" and all in all, the watches were pretty good for the price, especially the Eta models. I still have a gold plated (g/p over steel) day/date from back then and it runs and keeps good time 20+ years later.
This was just about all I had until the internet came around and I started buying a few off the 'net starting in the mid 1990s. (I saw where one guy I talked to on the phone about fakes in the 1990s selling on the'net had been busted and got 3 years in prison)
Do you know what - I didn't even think about how much the internet must have impacted on things!
Without the 'net I don't see how any community or knowledge base such as this could have flourished - we must have literally been at the mercy of whatever the factories and dealers wanted to sell us!
-
lol
Like to wear watches tight so they don't move - can't stand having something rattling around!
-
I was looking into getting a watch for a 'big' birthday as I had one for a previous 'big' birthday and it's nice to get something to keep that means something
Unfortunately I was looking at B&Rs, which I soon found out are slightly above my budget... lol
One of the guys on another forum I'm on that is unrelated to watches gave me a link to this place and hey presto - after resisting the temptation to splash out on the first thing I fancied, I'm now awaiting a WM9/BK SD and a 1939 Portugueser
-
Have a search as there's been some recent posts on this
-
Seems like it shouldn't be difficult to achieve.
You could say that about a lot of things
lol
-
Another great review, thank you
Stop making me lust after things I can't afford! lol
-
AFAIK the WM9 V1 and V2 is the Sub, not the SD.
-
I was thinking I might give building a DJ a go.
Now I'm not so sure...
lol
-
I just found this watch while browsing complicatedtime.com.
I love the idea, but it can't be cheap! lol
-
Ahhhh, I can't say I was even aware of that - n00bness strikes again lol
I guess if you sourced a gen movement then it would be a possibility, although I'd love to see the dealers face when you broke the news!
-
True, true!
But you are at least creating something out of your hobby, rather than p*ssing it up the wall, if you'll excuse my french lol
As a n00b question... Would you be able to take your Daytonas into a proper dealer and sell them as 'gen'?
With all the gen parts, would they be able to look the numbers up to see if they 'officially exist'??
-
I do agree that drip-drip spending feels better than paying out in a big hit! lol
I guess the other thing to think about is how much you've effectively saved off buying a 'gen' from a shop, all for a little patience
-
Thanks for another great review!
