i have never visited a authorized AD and tried to pass my rep as gen. I just wanted to know if I should take it off before going in or not. There's a number of dealers/stores around where I work in NYC and I'm just trying to get a feel to what is the most appropriate thing to do.
-
what about other high end watch stores? Same approach as well i assume?
-
wearing a rep watch? I mean were you brave enough to do so without fear that they might tell it's a rep and call you out or did you remove it before venturing in. I like walking into high end watch stores from time to time but I'm also wearing my rep so I'm a little apprehensive cause I'm afraid that it might turn into some an embrassing situation.

GMT II ceramic is an amazing watch but a question
rolexconfuse replied to rolexconfuse's topic in The Rolex Area
GOD no, if it was i'd have to find that guys that ran the scam site and beat their tiny brains in...and get back 900 bucks. -
While most people have scrutinized the crown, bezel, band, crystal, jewel and etc. My question, has anyone tried measuring to see if the caseback of the watch is the same/come close in height as the gen? Or if depth of the case is the same/close as the gen? I know in pictures they sort of do look alike but I'm just wondering how similiar they really are. I remember when I got my first rep watch from some scam site and the case back & depth was totally off. It was sitting so high on my hand that it looked like i had a mini car strapped to my wrist.

so in other words i can't buy a bottle/spray of AR and just paint or brush it on?
-
thanks guys, i was surprised that it got here so fast, it was amazing. I fiddled around with the GMT hand today at work and originally the i noticed that the gmt hand was moving slowly but then i set the gmt hand again and now it looks like it just stop moving... Did i just break the GMT hand? Hours, secs and minutes are all functioning correctly You know the bracelet for the noob was probably closest to the look of a gen band. I wish the GMT II ceramic's band came that close.
-
well my thing is this, what if i mask the entire crystal with tape except the mag, then coat it with AR and let it dry? Would there be a visible difference between coating it on the outside vs on the inside of the mag?
-
I notice that I set my GMT hand to 4 o'clock and it's slowly moving, is this normal?
-
thanks man, that worked
-
more to the point how would i adujust the GMT hand? I find that when I adjust my main hour hand the gmt hand moves. I'm wondering if I just got the Asian without the adjustable GMT hand

I ordered the Asian watch on Thursday from Angus and got it today in NYC, now that's fast service. So anyway, how's the watch? Well The band, besides the side edges being a bit on the sharp side, the rest of the band is actually pretty smooth. The links are well spaced, not loose like a bad aftermarket band from ebay or have links that are rubbing up to each other. And surprisingly, there is no cheap jingling, squeaky sounds when I flex the band. The etched crown on the crystal on my watch is actually pretty good. I can't even see it on the crystal. but it's there. And it's surprising to me since it's actually better than the noobmariner that i had. Either that or I had a bad copy of the noob. On the noob i could turn it side ways a little and boom there's the etched crown. Now the bad news, on my copy I had 2 flaws, The dial is off center by 0.5-2 millimeter (just my best estimate), which sucks cause the bezel insert was made to match up to the dial which means the bezel is also off by 0.5 or 2 millimeter. I can line up the bezel with the dial but then the bezel will look crooked on the watch, which is noticeable because the triangle is off center. Or line up the bezel so it's center but not inline the dial. After playing around with it for a while I decided to just center the bezel and leave it. It won't line up exactly with the dial but overall it looks better and less noticeable. So besides the alignment flaws i think the watch is pretty awesome, I actually like this watch more than the noobmariner that I purchased from Andrew. I just need to figure out how I'm supposed to change the Gmt hand to change only at 3 or 4 in the morining so no one can tell

This may be a stupid question but what happens if you put the AR on the outside of the cyclops? Besides the AR rubbing off, what other problems would there be?
-
so the geniue has AR on the date window? I've tried searching on the forum but i don't see any how or instructions in regards to removing the date window. Can someone point me the way?

Placed an order last night from Angus's website and now I'm on all pins and needles waiting for the shipping info. I want that watch now.... How long does it take for you to get a tracking number or something?

Angus has it listed the GMT II ceramic as sold out on his website for the asian today but yesterday I added one to my account and it's still in my cart. I want to check out and pay for it today but I'm not sure if there is still one left (the one in my cart being reserved) or not. If there is indeed nothing left I don't want to pay and have to sit and wait... -

I think I will get the Asian for now, If I had some easy access to a decent watch guy who would work on a rep I would wait and see but I don't know of anyone. I don't want to spend 300-400 bucks for the Swiss CHS to find out that the "fixed" movement has another new issue that can implode the watch. It would suck to end up with a 300-400 hunk of metal -

I'm not sure if the vendors are waiting for the shipments of stock to come in or if they're waiting for the factories to actual make more. If it's the latter I'm just a little worried that the "factories" or "factory" may end up doing a slight change or introduce some unexpected errors onto what most people think is an excellent rep out of the box to begin with. Rep collecting/buying is like a crap shoot LoL -

How is the asian movment (in the NON CHS version)? If it's a good sturdy, solid movement I'll get that and save the cash from getting an ETA. $188 is not bad and the hand stack doesn't really bother me. -

From what i understand the correct hand stack does not last long and could implode the movement unless this only applies to the Asian and not Swiss ETA movement. Andrew for the 2 swiss GMT 1.) Swiss ETA 2836-2 Modified with GMT Hand Adj (not sold out swiss version) 2.) Swiss ETA 2836-2 Modified with Correct Hand Stack (sold out swiss version) So the "GMT hand adj" is not the same as having the CHS like in #2? -
