How do go about approaching a watchmaker to work on your rep? Especially if you don't have a "regular" guy/store that you go to or buy from? I like to get my watch serviced but....I'm not sure how i would even start the topic
-
I never wore my reps in front of them. I only wear my gen watch when I hang with them. My friends are not loaded but they can afford to our purchase a gen if they wanted to. They've ribbed me about my gen, they know that I saved for it and stuff . And they respect the fact that I earned my watch but they also think I could have done so much more with my money then the watch since I'm not loaded.
-
so I was talking to a couple of friends who are into buying anything. So I said "hey soo why not for your next purpose get yourself a roles" and they said no, not worth the money. So then I said you can get replicas and at that moment their faces went into this ghastly expression. And they said why would they want to wear a fake for? What's the point? You can never hand it out if your boss or collegue wants to check it out. And whappens if it breaks, now you either stop wearing it or find a guy who'll be willing to work on a fake rolex. And if you do find someone like that what does that say about that person's character? There's are really good friends of mine and they don't know that I collect reps.

I know the quality of the movement isn't that great in the gmtIIC but cosmeticslly it is a hell of a watch. It is so close to the gen. I'm wondering if it was a fluke with the gmtIIc or is it the start of some amazing reps to come at an affordable price
-
I was wearing my GMT IIC for the last week and all was fine, last night i walk into my apartment and the entire watch just dropped straight to the ground from my wrist. My first thought was OMG one of the pin or link must have been busted but i picked up the watch i realized that one of the screws fell out. The screw from the last link next to the clasp (the flip pieace with the crown) It was loose and I didn't know it or see it. So the good was the watch survived a 4 foot drop to the ground, no scratches, no dings, and the watch keeps on ticking. Bad news, I can't find the missing screw in my apt, and the screws from the extra links that i removed are to long to fit correctly. The screw juts a bit at the top which is an eye sore. I was unlucky that watch didn't drop when I was in the streets...

i want 2 as well, can you pm me with instructions on how to pay and how to get it shipped to Chief for AR?
-
"but the other mags on the reps are identical to the GMTIIc" what other reps have mags identical to the GMTIIc ?
-
guys let me know if you found a place where you can get some 2.5x crystals. I rather just have the whole thing AR'ed and then just find some watch maker to replace the crystal for me.
-
chief has it right, that non-ar cyclops is hugeee. If you check out the real deal you'll see what a big difference it is.
-
Hey chief will you offer cyclops removal service as well? I'm not comfortable with doing it myself and I'm afraid that customs may take my watch if i have to send it out to a 3rd party. If it's a price thing or something else that you don't want to post publicly you can pm thanks. I'm based in the US
-
I went to the local AD today and took a look at the GMT II Ceramic and the AR makes a huge difference. Any rolex owner who has a gen or who's looked at the gen will be able tell that the rep is a rep without even having to handle the rep. The non AR cyclops on the rep sticks out like a sore thumb. Besides sending the cyclops for AR is there anything else that one can use to stop all the reflective? isn't there some consumer anti-glare solution available?

GMT hand is not working should I be worried?
rolexconfuse replied to rolexconfuse's topic in The Rolex Area
i haven't opened it but i tried looseends solution and it sorta work. But it would stop after a few hours again. -
thanks, i found it i never noticed the springy thing before...very cool
-
Spring loaded tongue on the clasp? I don't see any spring loaded anything on my watch.... Yeah I can feel the bezel when it clicks, it's a soft click
-
Did you get an ASIAN or a ETA? The rotor on mine is fine and I don't hear anything from it. Bracelet on my watch is okay, sorta right in the middle, not loose but not like my gen either. the gaps between the links are a little bigger than on my noobmariner but it's smooth and does no bind up like the noobmariner. The top & bottom side edges of the band is a little sharp on mine My bezel doesn't have a click sound either, not sure if this is the norm I have no idea on how to read GMT time

Better photos of the new model Submariner (gen)

well it should easier to get reps with almost 1:1 CG's I mean those CG's look like previous rep CG's. What would be funny is if the rep factories still get it wrong.... -
why don't more dealers offer modding services?
rolexconfuse replied to rolexconfuse's topic in The Rolex Area
it would be fun if I wasn't all butter fingers. I wanted to smooth out the sharp side edges from my bracelet so I did some test runs on a couple of spare links I had, well let's say all the mirror polish finish on the side of the links are now all scratched up IN theory I sort of get how to smooth it out but in reality....nope -
I'm just a little surprised that most dealers don't offer a list of modding services that they can bill us a la carte or as part of the watch package. It can be from the simplest things to something complicated I don't know how many you guys out there are good at modding but I'm pretty much all butter fingers. So for me it would be a great option.

Mine was from puretime too and it has the crooked crystal and the GMT does not work properly

30 EMS for the initially shipping, 30 EMS shipping back for servicing, 30 bucks EMS for shipping it back total of 90 bucks or half of what the watch costs... -
GMT hand is not working should I be worried?
rolexconfuse replied to rolexconfuse's topic in The Rolex Area
If it's not going to affect the main movement I can live with it thought it's a bit annoying. My concern was that it may end up bombing the movement. -
Everything on the watch (GMT Ceramic) is running but GMT is not doing anything. when i first got the watch i changed the GMT to 4 o'clock, it worked for about 5 hours then it just stopped, i left it for 3 hours to see if anything would happen and nothing. So i went and rotated the GMT 1 hour day and set it to 6 0'clock. After I did this the GMT hand started to work again, and it then after 3 more hours it stopped. I left it alone all night and the GMT has not moved at all from where it stopped. Should I be worried that whatever is clogging the GMT might end up clogging the rest of the movement?

Is it possible to buy AR liquid?
rolexconfuse replied to rolexconfuse's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
well i would love to send my crystal out but I'm all butterfingers when it comes to removing parts plus I'm not the most patient man in the world when it comes to mailing things out and waiting for things to return lol. -
I've been searching the net like crazy and I can't find one place that sells AR liquid/solutions. How would one acquire stuff like that?
