  1. Oh, BTW, anyone know where I can get those clear acrylic watch stands? I broke the wire one I made as a temp, hence the watch sitting instead of floating. Just want one or two to make an articulated stand to make this stuff easier.
  2. After some time on here, ordered a SD for myself, fully serviced, and a Sub for a friend, from Joshua. Sub came in first, he shipped separately because mine took a couple of extra weeks. So worth the wait. It's beautiful. Really thick. Already ordered something for my wife. Here's a couple of shots, straight on, a side shot to show how thick it is (so excited I hadn't taken all the protective blue goo off the crown) and something more artistic (gotta love tilt/shift lenses!). I can highly recommend Joshua's watches, the quality is great, love that he can properly service things, and he'll also recommend against anything that's not quite right in workmanship, look, current stock, etc. Thanks, Joshua!!
  3. Wow, a happy ending to this after all. The Amercian headquarters was dragging their feet and didn't call when they said they would. After contacting Tissot in Switzerland last week, heard back from them once saying they'd investigate. A completely new watch, box and all, showed up at my door today. I am thrilled. Makes me completely rethink my thoughts about Tissot. Still don't like the American headquarters, but the real HQ came through and sent me a new watch. Had to come on here and say that. THAT is the kind of service I'd expect in this situation with a Gen. I already have high expectations for our rep dealers here. -Antonio
  4. I have one of Josh's SeaDwellers on the way. Hoping it made it thru the shipping process, had him service it, too. Should get it Monday. 14.5mm isn't thick enough?
  5. Bought two reps from Joshua so far, waiting on #2. They're so incredibly nice. About to buy my wife a DJ rep, but want to hear thoughts on the quality of the stones used in reps vs real diamonds. I am not concerned about jewelers, just want to know if they're good enough for the casual observer?
  6. I bought my Seastar 660 for a trip to Hawaii, so I could wear a watch snorkeling. In 5 feet of water, first day, it leaked. I sent it to the repair place in NJ because the dealer can't just give me a new one (nice policy). Sent it in on June 6, they received it the 8th. I knew they'd have to assess the damage. Needs new seals and a lot of work to correct the movement that was water damaged (salt water). And the new crown is holding it up until August sometime. TWO TO THREE MONTHS WHEN I'VE ONLY HAD IT A WEEK?!?!?!?! For that they could send me a new one, but NOOOOOOO. I strongly urge everyone not to buy Tissot. It's not worth the headache if something goes wrong.
  7. This is a great place, despite the texting (see above)! Sorry, not a fan of saying "your" with just U and R, but I suppose it's better than people screwing up and putting no apostrophe where one should be (e.g. your in place of you're, gets me nearly as bad as people saying "then" when they mean "than")
  8. Oh, and BTW, anyone know where I can find a clear acrylic watch stand? Just really want the insert thing that makes a form for the watch to sit on, I can add a bar to clamp to a stand to help me with my project of photographing my watches.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure I will get another or two. Do like gens as well, have a few I like, but nothing really expensive. Have a photo of my Seastar 660 in the Photo Gallery. Will have to have my friend shoot his, he has it already and I dunno if I could wrest it from his wrist long enough to do a picture. Haha. You can expect a shot of my SD up here sometime after I get it. Working on a better rig to hold my watches, really need to start with a good acrylic form. Learning a lot from you guys and this site. Very fun stuff.
  10. Holy cow. Actually ordered 2 watches from Joshua, one sub for a friend and a sea dweller for me. The sub took 3 days to get to me, the SD will take longer as I had him fully service it for a little extra (after what I'd read here). The sub is unbelieveably good, can't wait till (hopefully) next week when the SD gets here. I'm jealous that my friend has his before I got mine. Also bought a winding case on ebay, holds up to 4 watches in the winding part, and 4 more inside. Wound friend's Sub in it, works great. Now after my SD I'll have to acquire at least 3 more automatics! Thanks everyone for the help so far! Antonio
  11. Haha, so far, I'm on my way. Excited to see what is out there, and happy to combine my visual (photographic) sense with fine watches. First one is on its way, should ship this coming weekend. We'll see how long it takes to get to me. -Antonio
  12. Thanks! Thanks for the advice, too. Probably need to set up a photobucket account then. I know, re: the fingerprints. I was playing around a little, not the best shots. Gave me a chance to start figuring what kind of grip/rig I need to hold my watches in place, and let me know how good my tilt/shift lens is at handling smaller objects.
  13. Tribal, Where do you find OEM parts (e.g. the crown or crystal)?
  14. U.S. (well, I live here) Canadia (sic) Mexico Australia France Jamaica St. Admin & St. John (Virgin Islands) Have friends all over the world now, just need to find the time to visit!
  15. Photographed some of my watches a couple of weeks ago just to see how I'd do. Have my Tissot up elsewhere, here's a shot of my Seiko. Still have some bugs to work out of my lighting, and if anyone can tell me how to attach an image to the body of the post so it's not a thumbnail that has to be clicked?
  16. Don't know how to post this so it's in the text field, not a clickable thumbnail, but here's a pic I shot of my gen Seastar 660 right after I bought it. It's a beautiful watch, like your 1000. I've become a big fan of Tissot, and their service is great when you need it. I'm kinda partial to chronographs, and love the screw-down pushers on this one.
  17. Thanks, you guys. I'm learning tons already. This site does seem really helpful. And so far, you're right, one of the only ones you can openly post anything in.
  18. Jeff, A friend and I are buying together. Probably a sub, though I like Sea Dwellers because they have no cyclops to be badly-aligned, haha. And looking at stainless because if I can find a quality one, it won't wear out as fast. -Antonio
  19. True, I am new here. But been researching for days, actually on and off for weeks. It's funny, every forum or review site seems to be tied to a bunch of preferred sellers, leading me to wonder the legitimacy of any of it. I know it's a hard thing to figure out, esp. considering the subject matter. globalreplica seems to have some good reviews, yet those could all be made up. And they sell swiss, or what they claim to be, for $850+. I want a rep that I can wear daily for years, would rather get something decent. At least to "fake it until I make it" and can buy a real one. Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I am studying the site as I'm participating in this thread.
  20. Hello all. I'm new to this, and confused. There are so many sites. I want to buy a true swiss rep. but there are SOOO many conflicting sites and reviews. How do I find the truth? -Antonio
