  1. Since it would seem to go well here, which direction is the best for the winder to spin with the new 7750? Clockwise or counter?
  2. Traveling, so pretty sure it's just the Bentley GT all weekend. Got another watch on the way, should be here when I get back from the second leg of my trip.
  3. I have a couple of reps, a Josh SD (obviously in black) and a Bentley GT (also in "diamond black" as Breitling calls it) as I tend to like the readable face, and for the more readable logo. I want a Steelfish now, and though I LOVE Pug's photos of the white dial, I'm trying to decide between the black and blue dial versions. When you're looking at various colors of watches, what do you consider before choosing which to buy? -Tony
  4. I've had one of Josh's beautiful SD reps for a year. LOVE it. But want to get a better bezel insert for it, the flat pearl has always bugged me. Anyone here got a better bezel insert? I'm happy to get a gen insert, looks like I can have Flavor Flav do the work.
  5. Well, I'm certainly not going to contribute to the length of this post. That would be inconsiderate. You guys rock.
  6. Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.
  7. Id love to see them in concert. FWIW, my first concert was KISS with Eric Carr as drummer. Wendy O and the Plasmatics opened for them. I was young, and a woman with a 2-foot mohawk, bikini panties and electrical tape smashing televisions with a sledge hammer on stage changed my life forever. And set the benchmark for concerts. Rob Zombie is the only one who has remotely come close. But Police are a great band, and of course Sting is a big part of it. Thank God there's no Sting reps out there.
  8. At an awards show last night, Dennis Muren (SFX lead at ILM) wears Casio with his tux, George Lucas wears a $200 Swatch Irony Skeleton.
  9. I recently bought an AP Royal Oak rep. Took it to a local watch dealer (not AP AD) to have the band resized. He looked at it and asked if it was real. I admitted it wasn't, he admitted he'd never seen a gen one (but knew what it was), and told me I saved $20 on the band resize (only $10, I guess that's the "rep" discount there). I guage whether I will admit the fact that I'm wearing a rep based on the situation and person. Sometimes just by not offering the information, people will believe it is real. I don't go out of my way either way. Mostly I just enjoy the fine timepiece I'm wearing, I'm far more concerned with it than anyone else is.
  10. Here's the wierdest thing... I switched directions on a new winder. It seems to be working fine now. Otherwise I may have to pull the caseback to see if it's just the tolerences, etc. Will keep everyone posted.
  11. I have a winder that alternates, and it keeps my watches with 2836, 7750 and a 2671 (Lady Datejust) keeping good time. It is a 45 degree winder. But the fact that this watch in question doesn't wind properly on a winder (it just stopped on my wrist) makes me think the movement has an issue. I had it serviced when I ordered it, and have already taken the risk of sending it back once, got it back ok. But still not working properly. If I could put it on my wrist and get it started, I might consider accepting this flaw. But it seems to need more than that. I think there's something wrong with the movement and think it needs replacing.
  12. Recently got a new rep, with a 2824 movement. It won't stay wound on a winder (Same winder that winds my other reps perfectly). It does fine with my arm movements. So it stays wound on my wrist, but not on a winder. I sent it back once, the caseback was replaced. Anyone else ever known this, perhaps I should post it in the The Zigmeister Zone for more expert thoughts?
  13. Gen Tissot Seastar 660 today. Only went to the gym.
  14. Bought a 4 watch winder on ebay. One side of the 2 went out. Took it apart, motor is fine, it's the board that's not sending power to that side. Emailed the seller (bought it 6 months ago) to ask about a new board, but no response. I want to buy it, not asking for them to send me one for free. May buy another or build my own. Anyone have one with a good board but bad motor? -Antonio
  15. A publisher friend has a gold Rolex Presidential with full diamonds. Blingy. Another friend, an editor, just bought himself a used Roger Dubuis. He also has a Ulysse Nardin.
  16. I think most of us HAVE to do it. It's what we're into. My wife called me obsessed when I called out the ROO Patrick Dempsey wears on "Grey's Anatomy". I was admiring the shine on comedian Joey Medina's Breitling (from across the room) at a comedy club last night. Couldn't tell what the host was wearing, something big. The cool thing is that whether you have a rep or a gen, you learn about both and have something to talk about with other people who are into watches. It's a good conversation starter.
  17. Just got another watch from Joshua. An AP Royal Oak (pics soon). It is GORGEOUS. Ordered on the 20th, got it delivered on the 26th, day after Christmas. I was on the road, but it was safe at my mail place. As always, Joshua is fast with emails, his service is excellent, product quality is fantastic. He's talked me out of a few watches on his site because of my quality expectations. And as I've said before, service is better than most everywhere here in the States these days. One watch from him, a Bentley GT, arrived with a date problem (probably knocked loose in shipping). He sent me another one before he even got the broken one back, they passed in shipping. Class act all the way.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dmVU08zVpA Samberg, at it again. Damn he's brilliant.
  19. Seems to me that Eric Carr's set from the first concert (KISS back in the day, though I've seen them since) I ever went to was bigger. The drum solo was sick. Whole concert was sick. But I was 12, and Wendy O and the Plasmatics opened. A woman with a 2-foot mohawk, bikini panties and electrical tape smashing televisions with a sledgehammer seem to have distorted my entire life since then. For my money, Josh is the dealer I'll buy from the most. His customer service is second to none, products absolutely rock, and servicing before shipment has kept all my watches (and those for my friends and wife) keeping great time and reliable. I'll recommend him to everyone. I've had problems with watches, he sends a replacement fully serviced before he gets the bad one back from me. Always answers my questions honestly, recommends against his own watches knowing my taste and expectations. You just won't go wrong when ordering from him.
  20. Who you callin' a "tool"? I have a Tissot diver that I bought, it leaked once but has been replaced by the company. Use that for diving, the gym, etc. I've been pretty good about not beating my watches too much, but I wear one all the time for almost everything except sleep. Gens and reps, they all get a bunch of wrist time, they're all holding up well. Having some wear on them lets people know that I do wear them and tends to convey the love I have for them, not the overprotectiveness. Watches are made for wearing. Enjoy them.
  21. Hmmmm.... Does this mean you may have more to sell?
  22. With so many watch reps with seconds at 6, is it just too expensive for someone to make a movement that works that way? So many of our reps use same or same spec movement as gens, I don't get why there's no option for this?
  23. If I might add something to this, though you're right about accuracy, we here tend to like the soul of the mechanical watch. And quality control if you buy "off the rack" can vary. The way to insure that the watches will be better than average for QC, buying from a reputable dealer (I know, funny thing to say considering) and having the watch serviced works. I've had a watch arrive not working as expected, it was replaced in days. Current version runs like a top, dealer (Josh) serviced both. Actually all of my watches have come from him and been serviced, all are so far running fantastic, pretty accurate as well. We want to impress people usually, but it also allows for good conversation starters with watch lovers and casual observers alike. I've had people with no knowledge of watches marvel at my Bentley GT, it's started some great conversations. And for those who do know watches, they're impressed even more whether they know it's a rep or not.
