  1. I bought a similar one from Josh, but without the fluted bezel. It's a gorgeous watch, I think I have photos of it posted somewhere here. It's one main flaw is that the datewheel is dirty on some of the days. You have to look closely through the datemag to see it, not really an issue. She loves it, though she kinda wishes it were quartz (yuck!) so I didn't have to reset it for her if she doesn't wear if for a few days (my watches have taken all the spaces on the winders ;-) ).
  2. I have had great luck winding all my watches clockwise. Until now. Just found out the IWC Big Pilot, with it's Asian 21j movement prefers to be wound COUNTER-clockwise. It's the odd man out in my collection. Found out by accident, it wasn't winding on the winder, so I tried it the other way, and voil
  3. I've used one of my (photo) flashes to light up my lume before going into a darker room, from an inch away. Funny how much that can light it up, a pretty full charge. Just don't look at it while you do it, or you won't be able to see much of the glow (or anything else).
  4. Clarkson (one of my favorite presenters) wears a P.O. Anyone here watch "Private Practice"? Taye Diggs' character wears a Pam, a lot of other good watches show up on the show.
  5. Dude, wait... What?
  6. It may have been ten buyers before, but even then it was more than ten tickets. I'm guessing people are buying and not posting here (not like that's even expected), at least I hope so. Support this great site and get a chance at that amazing watch. I'm hoping I win because that's a watch I really want and I'd love to try one from another collector. So far ALL my watches (and wife's and friends') have come from the same one.
  7. Wait, so the iPhone isn't wound by movement?
  8. Perhaps "Steelfish Superocean Aeromarine Breitling".
  9. After looking at the Breitling website again, they call it the "Superocean Steelfish". That would make it SOSF, no?
  10. I thought it was the "SuperOcean Steelfish", but perhaps it's the other way around? I see it both ways here.
  11. Tickets purchased!
  12. Assuming it's mechanical. Those silly electronic watches won't be right any time if broken. Or is it that they're always right...?
  13. Anything special platinum members need to do for this? Saw Lani's post about that. No email yet. Do wanna buy some extra tix, that's a helluva watch and this is a helluva site, happy to support it.
  14. Phoband, do you still have the carcass of the dead winder? I'm putting one together, and need cups/pillows for it. I have a couple of dead ones that I'm cannibalizing for it as well. I've had the $60 amazon ones (see the "Steinhausen TM44" for example), they're more reliable and quieter than the "cherry wood" ones on ebay, but they all die eventually. I have a heavy-duty, slow motor now and using some gears and perhaps belts from the RC Car world to help drive it, and using a timer and some simple math to set the number of revolutions. If anyone has a 7750 that won't wind, try tilting the winder a little forward to get the watch more vertical. Sometimes the rotor needs a little more freedom than it gets at 45 degrees. Just make sure it isn't perpendicular to the ground, it might fall out!
  15. Or better yet, for those of you with working watch winders, which one is best, after the pricey from Orbita? Other ones don't seem to last nearly as long.
  16. Is that real Kentucky Fried Chicken, or a rep?
  17. I'm looking for suggestions as to where I might source these if nobody has them. I really don't want to make my own from scratch.
  18. I've had the "cherry wood" winder, with room for 4 watches. Actually currently looking for anyone who may have one that, like mine, quit working (the IC inside burned out). I want to make my own, but would like two more of the watch holders/tubs to make a consistent winder. I'll happily post plans if it all works. Already have the motor and gearing, just need a way to add a few more watch holders. Will pay shipping and even a little extra for just those parts. PM me if you have them or know where I might buy some. Thanks!
  19. 7.5" wrist right here: (BTW, I tried to make these full-size without clicking, but they're stored in RWG in dynamic pages and I don't have them hosted elsewhere. Any tips on making this work this way?) It looks fantastic on my wrist. Not ridiculous, it really is handsome. Wears well for a wall clock that fits on your wrist, makes a definite statement.
  20. Thought I'd actually take it off my wrist for a moment and do some formal portraits of this amazing piece: I just can't stop looking at this beautiful watch. Love it!
  21. Had a chance to do some formal portraits of the new Big Pilot. It's a beautiful piece. I can't stop looking at it! And it's wonderful to photograph, as well. Hardest thing was talking myself into taking it off my wrist.
  22. It's here!!! What a gorgeous piece. I'm absolutely in love. Joshua, you rule. Haven't done a formal portrait, will try to get to that tomorrow. For now, here's a wrist shot. It wears really nicely on my wrist. It's a big-ass clock, but it's not overly large. Just beautiful.
  23. "Released from customs". In this case, the 5002. Now the pins and needles till the mail arrives, probably tomorrow.
  24. Lani, Thanks for a great and comprehensive review. Pulled the trigger myself a few days ago, it's still "processing". Grrr... Can't wait to get it!
  25. Avitt, That looks great. Can't wait to see it. Pulled the trigger on Josh's BP. We'll see what it's like when it arrives.
