  1. You are right, those catalogues are much sought for items.

And you are right on date mag as well: it is one of the most annoying flaws both because it's so easy to spot on and because it is a defect that affects the very functionality of the watch, not merely an aesthetic one.

Hopely we are heading to see more new correct datewheels and magnifying lenses in the future.

  2. Estaban,

I have no children and my pets are all my family after my wife.

Exactly one year ago on these days I lost one of them (the first in the pics below) after 12 years together and a 18 months agony.

With all my respect to any others who posted, probably noone can feel your actual feelings more than me.

Have all my understanding and sympathy.

  3. According to my supplier...it's a 7750.....after all the posts today....I had no enthusiasm to go into great detail about it...that's why I said it was swiss....and that you guys would know what's on offer anyway.....!

It's a pity you are embittered right now, TTK. I feel you have something good there.

@cwai02: how can you tell the movement?

  4. That was you! Man that looked awesome. You read so many post here and see so many pictures you forget what and from who yoiu saw. Can you tell the the details on the marker I found the company but would probably have to go mail order for it, but I need to know what green color you used.

Did you use it on white stiching? Is is really permanent? Looked AMAZING

    Thanks again, Steve!

I do not want to hijack your thread even more than what I've already done.

So, please have a look at my latest post here (I posted it essentially as an answer to your kind interest).

    Cheers,

    sss

  5. Some pics about some straps I enjoyed modifying their stitching with a marker. It is an easy job and the result may worth.

This was my first attempt: a bleached strap on which I also tried a luminova-like dying on an originally white stitching:

For that strap I used the marker #1 from this pic:

    94243-27647.jpg

It was a little too dark green, though, and I had to bleach the stitching only again in order to get the desired accent.

Besides, it did not prove really permanent. When I treated the strap with a leather cream in order to clean some sweat stains that had appeared, the greenish accent fade away -- besides of the strap becoming darker .

Then I found the markers #2 and 3, and I used #2 ("meadow green") to re-dye the stitching on that same strap. Here is the result:

    94243-27648.jpg

...I know, I know: the strap nuance (even if not the stitching) was better in the 1st version... but I couldn't let those sweat stains stay there... :(

Ok, let's go on. Here is a second strap where I tried the meadow green Promarker again:

But I think I got even better results with #3, "gold". I used it to dye the white stitching on the 147 I got from Josh (I hope Josh will not get annoyed if I use one of his pics here to show the difference between before and after -- in case lmk, Josh, and I'll remove it):

    BEFORE:

    94243-27653.jpg

    AFTER:

    94243-27654.jpg

    94243-27655.jpg

    94243-27656.jpg

    94243-27657.jpg

    94243-27658.jpg

Ok, that's all now. Just two last words:

Those markers are declared as permanent, but I don't know at what extent they actually are.

But, even if they fade away, redoing the dying is an easy 10-mins job and I would be disposed towards doing it again even once a month in order to get those effects.

On all the stitching I dyed, the thread absorbed the ink like a sponge. It was enough to gently touch the thread with the marker's tip on one or two points for each small segment to get the segment coloured.

    Thanks all for your attention,

    sss

P.S.: apologies for my hair. I did not think to shave it before taking pics.

  6. SSS because we don't open a factory of panerai? Considering that the actual factories involve from idiots with stupid defects ....

Nice idea! But considering workmanship costs and police policy we should also emigrate to China in order to do that...

@kruzer00: thanks, Warren. I was supposing it, but unsure.

  7. Just to confirm that there is no AR on the 28.

    Thanks, Mark!

One thing I am curious about is if you have removed the small lens that is on the movt covering the date. Your mag looks huge compared to mine!!

yes I have the same magnification on the date and so he did leave the second lens on it. I have a GMT without the second lens and it looks like you would expect.

Well, actually magnification IS huge! It did not even come to my mind to have the small lens removed. Now I wonder what the result would be if I do it.

Mark, did you remove the small lens? In this case, would you post a pic? (Else, the only reason I can think for the difference in mag is that your 028 and mine have different rehauts between the crystal and the date window -- as you know, even a fraction of mm would be significant... even a different thickness of the teflon gasket on which the crystal sits).

Warren, did you post pics of your GMT? (Or was it the watch in The Zigmeister's pics?)

you may want to try an oxblood from Europelli, I think that would go beautifully!!

Looks great. Crown will make it complete. I would look into a black stingray with white pearls. A titanium colored carbon broadband (or black) from Europelli would look very nice as well.

I had a look on Europelli's site on both those straps, but I got soon lost and was unable to locate them.

Pls, do you have a direct link to the straps you were referring to?

@all: Thanks all again for your suggestions, appreciation and comments!

  8. Now I saw a thread where someone used a certain permanent maker to do just the stitching a greenish color to match. That look real nice.

That was me. :) Thanks for the appreciation.

After the greenish (luminova-like) accent on that strap's stitching, I also tried an orange yellow (rose gold-like) on the stitching of a rose gold watch strap, and it came out even better. I plan to post pics soon.
