  1. Silix' 027 @ 80 USD is a bang. I got two of them.

    Good:

    - Reliable Asian 21J movement, with seconds, date, and working PR at a ridicolous price.

    - Excellent dial, at the level of the 2892-A2 027 (about 650 USD).

    Bad:

    - Incorrect caseback -- and hard to replace too, as it does not fit 99% of other reps.

    - Substantially no lume (fixable).

    - Bad datewheel font (fixable).

    - Poor cyclops (fixable).

    - Glass crystal (fixable).

    Summary:

If you are not looking for a super-rep, this is very likely one of the most convenient PAM reps you can get.

If you consider that even the $650 027 needs mods on lume, datewheel and cyclops, you can get the whole picture.

  2. Congrats to agepag on his two first reps.

About the '45 hrs' power reserve on the 090, there is an easy (even if partial) fix.

Fully wind the watch until the PR arrow goes to its max above the 40 hrs limit, then remove the PR arrow and place it back by making it pointing correctly to the 40 hrs limit.

Now the arrow will go below 0 when the watch is completely out of charge, but this makes for a less annoying flaw as it becomes apparent only when you are not wearing the watch.

I did it on my 090 and it works perfectly.

  3. I've seen it on Andrew's site (trusty), listed as the Radiomir Luminor 2006 model.

    Wow, thanks!

Finding a 44mm Luminor in the 42/45mm Radiomir section proved to be beyond my skills.

I hope that the price that Andrew quotes (more twice than Paul's) prevents from Paul-like issues.

  4. Removing the dial is not difficult, you just need to have a case opener (rubber gloves might even fit the need), some screwdrivers, a pin, plastic sheet, cutters, and a hand removing tool.

But if you use the smoke method then you won't even need to remove the dial from the movement -- just remove the movement+dial from the case and protect the movement somehow. In this case the plastic sheet, cutters, and hand removing tool are unnecessary.

  5. Black or brown croco 24/22 or 24/20, depending on your buckle's size.

Lenght depending on your wrist's size.

Better advice will be provided to you (I bet) by our Miss Strap, my beloved vbarrett.

    That watch is gorgeous, congrats!

I have the very similar 147 (3 subdials) and I am constantly in love with it.

  6. It also came out that rep owners are more prone to develop skin cancer as they much more expose themselves to direct sunlight because of their watches' poor lume.

On the other hand, that prevents them from falling into Vitamine D carency as already reported for Tritium-lume owners.
