  1. Search for watch... ...or for bondage?
  2. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=15091 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=13245 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12770 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=11853 http://www.timezone.com/library/workbench/workbench0013 I am currently experimenting with ReadySetGlow (RSG) powders and I can comfirm Shasta's method. You need to crunch/mill/grind them to a finer powder before use. RSG is even more brightning than Superluminova. Can't tell if it is also that durable, though. I am also testing different media -- like a low-viscosity UV glue in place of the standard 'Bergeon' medium. I also tried with pen-like tools to apply the lume, in place of black oilers. No luck so far about it. I already ruined a dial on those tests, and I'm going to ruin another one.
  3. WOW! Fantastic watch & tutorial! I would have had it before starting my tenths open-mod-then-close-again on my 028A...
  4. Well, you may guess which my vote went to... Let's say the truth: the PAM 050 is poorly loved just because it is a 40mm PAM (and noone loves 40mm PAMs), not because of its merits or demerits. Actually, the question in the title of this poll states: 'What Is Your Favourite Perfect Rep?', not 'What Is The Most Accurate Out-Of-The-Box Rep?' like it was in the original thread. This naturally biases the results quite a bit. If one would give judgement exclusively on the out-of-the-box accuracy of reps, PAM 050 would (at least) share the first place with one or two other watches. No criticism intended here, just a description of the facts.
  5. Very good, themuck. So you are going to be the very first one on the forum(s) to get a first-hand experience on all those watches together. At that time you will be teaching us which actually is the BEST rep among them.
  6. Unable to vote in the poll as it is using an obsolete inch system while the whole universe is going to use a more modern decimal system. Anyway, 16 cm here. Yes, a small wrist. Hair not added.
  7. I have a Reverso (from Andrew) that gets no or little wrist time because of an annoying flaw: one of the pins of the sliding case is too short (or its spring is not working properly), so that the case gets not completely firm and, if I shake my wrist hard or fast (no jokes pls), the case 'opens'.
  8. Crown: ask palpatine. CG: you are out of luck. No source as far as I know. You may try with Davidsen, though.
  9. Ask Finepics (UK) or Lello (Italy). Some time ago Finepics slowed down reluming, so maybe there is quite a queue now. Lello currently is on a brief holiday, so don't worry if you get no reply for a week or so. I seem to remember that also palpatine made relume once, but I don't know whether he still does. You may also do a search for relume in order to look for other options.
  10. ALL dealers here are undergoing constant quality control via members' feedback, so you can stay assured they all are top-notch. So far, I got transactions with Joshua Andrew Narikaa TTK Davidsen Silix King Wo-Mart to my appointment. Btw, welcome aboard!
  11. Found. Here is the link: http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/black.htm Look near bottom of the page, where they speak of the "Stainless Steel Blackener 370"
  12. Well, Davdsen's PVD is real PVD, while the so-called 'PVD' on usual reps is not. Even rep 'PVD' is harder to scratch than SS, though. Real PVD is even harder. As for accuracy, palpatine's PVD should be the most accurate around, as it is performed by the same company that makes the PVD treatment for the genuine PAMs. About your 028: it seems as only the bezel is rep 'PVD', while the case real PVD. Is it just because of the picture?
  13. Well, we already have our 'Jetmid' secret word
  14. Possibly the keyless work messed up. An easy fix to any watchsmith, but a tricky job to non-experts. Edit: The Zigmeister posted while I was writing.
  15. On another forum I read this is very busy time for Mark on his real work. He also clearly stated a while ago that he was not going to sacrifice his real life to the forum(s) anymore. If you have any open transaction with him, stay assured that - more sooner than later - he will get in touch with you: Mark is of exemplar correctness. Else, better you give him a break and let him reply if and when he will like.
  16. Best oil for the need is macadamia oil, but any oil will actually work, provided it is colorless (not to make stitching yellowish) and odourless or having just a light, pleasant smell (not to make your strap smell of line oil for months). I used a body oil that I got from a local herbalist shop, made from macadamia, almonds and jojoba, and it worked great. Just be warned that any oil will make your strap a little darker.
  17. Wow, thanks, I had completely forgotten that thread! Yes, it seems that several inconsistences either do not exist, or are due to different releases. Let's look at some of them: possible #6 numeral: chieftang judged it too fat, while in that above-mentioned post we read (dub43 on the old RWG, quoted by olreon): 'The numbers on the dial aren't as thick as the original. Almost but not quite.' bracelet clasp: dub43 quoted by olreon: 'It's only a single push button while the original is double.' recessed pin: Completely wrong guess. Anyone can look at the pics in that post and verify that there is no recessed pin. As I already said, no 7750 had any recessed pin issue. And I can gurantee that my 050 has not too. So, in the end, all supposed inaccuracies -- with a possible exception for the first link thing -- are very questionable to say the least. It even seems as dub43 got a completely different model from the current ones (he even criticized the date mag, which is actually a major strenght of this rep instead). The starter of that thread had to specify which pics were of gen and which ones of rep. This speaks loud about this rep's overall quality. As a final remark, looking at Andrew's 050 I am inclined to affirm that even those minor and questionable flaws seem over now.
  18. While sssurfing the net, I've just stumbled upon this. To anyone interested.
  19. Recessed pin?!? On a 7750 050???? themuck, the recessed pin issue is of 6497 movements only... Where did you hear of it on a 050? About that clasp and first link issues: I had problems with them only on a cheap rep bracelet, not on that from Joshua. Please would you provide any more details?
  20. Thanks, repaustria. How do you manage to protect numerals and inscriptions? Do you think this would also work in making a black dial tobacco or brown?
  21. (POOF!... reappearing as evoked...) Well, I actually have the one from Joshua (I got it about a year ago), but I have to say that the one from Andrew looks absolutely perfect to me (maybe this is the reason for its somewhat higher price). Thanks for pointing it out! I also have to say that, even on Joshua's, that fat numeral thing (if any) is hardly spottable other than on a side-to-side comparison with the gen. One remark: I was not defending this watch because I own it, I sincerely think that it is one of the most accurate (and the most accurate PAM) reps around. Now, after looking at Andrew's model, I am even more convinced of it.
