  1. Dave, Welcome to the forum. This is the best place to get a great education on watches. I have been really enjoying increasing my knowledge. There are some real experts posting here. I am in Delaware. Maybe if we run into some more members in the tri state area we could arrange a GTG, like some of the other folks in other areas do. It would be a great excuse to grab some good food and trade watch stories. Joe
  2. I posted the same question back in May. I ended up purchasing an assortment of very small metric taps. Had no sucess, as the threads were tapped from the band side of the lug, and it is very difficult to start to chase the thread from the finish side, as mine were buggered up from the shop drilling the lug part way for the screw head recess. by mistake. I could get it started in the good lug side, no problem. If your threads are messed up on the band side of the lug you may be OK. I ordered the taps from Micro Tools, I also posted a link to the in a previous post. I'll see if I can find the taps in my box and then give you the size that worked. JR
  3. Lani, Glad to see you are back and kicking! I have been away from the forum myself for a while. Too much going on at work. No rush on this project. It's a nice to have but not the most important thing. I have gotten a little wiser with my forum readng and research. There is quite a lot to digest. The list will make it much easier to scope out the "best" but is a lot of fun doing the legwork also. Cheers, JR
  4. I just realized that Lani is out of commission. Now I understand why this probably fell off the radar. He has a lot more important things to focus on,..like getting well. Looking forward to seeing you get back! Sorry for the nag. JR
  5. Guys, This really sounded like a great idea. Was this happening and I missed it? I am still rather new here and not a real expert yet, that will take a long time.... Looking at all of the experience collected here on the forum to get better. I just acquired a SOSF white dial, Swiss eta, and am really impressed. Should be on the list. JR
  6. Try this link in the US. I have bought some items from them Good so far. Look in the watch repair section. https://www.micro-tools.com/store/home.aspx JR
  7. Here you go, Pam on a thin wrist...wearing today
  8. Wearing my TT sub for the weekend
  9. Pam 252 on black heroic 18 to start the week. Just added to the collection. I'm relatively new and starting to learn the photo side and all the rest of the hobby. This is an awesome site with great folks that are really knowledgeable. Really enjoying this! JR
  10. I also posted this question on the stripped thread in lug thread. Sorry for the duplication. I was worried it would get lost in the other thread I would like to clean up the threads on my pam 252 I recently purchased. I want to purchase a tap but don't know the size. Thanks for the help, JR
  11. I recently purchased a pam 252 and the threaded lug at the 6 o clock position is buggered up. I went to change the strap and discovered it. It looks like it was drilled out for tapping and then was drillled out for the screw side about 50% depth by mistake. Hole diameter is same as the screw side to start. This is what buggered up the threads. When I removed the screw that threaded portion was cut off shorter to let the screw appear to be recessed. The threaded portion is half of the 12 o clock screw. It was basically rigged to pass QC. It is not worth the hassel of sending back, and the rest of the watch is perfect. My question is ...does anyone know the tap size that I can purchase to clean the remaining threads in the hole? I would like to run the tap thru the remaining good material, clean up the remaining threads and get it functional vs. just pushing the screw in and hoping it stays. I also ordered spring bars to use if I can't get corrected. Thanks for the help, JR
  12. Great write up. Thanks for taking the time to post! I was researching AR coatings to see if I could do myself. What I found was that there are a lot of supplies for stripping AR coating that are used in eye glass fabrication(Opticians). 1 qt. bottles are not too expensive. I might want to try the stripper , since it is a dip and dissolve process, especially for the coating. Maybe it would make the overall process a little less labor intensive. I am also checking with my local optometrist to see if their lab can do the coatings. I'll post if I get any good info. JR
  13. Hello everyone, What a great site. I am so glad that I found this place. Was close to pulling the trigger on a rep. but after reading and learning here so far, I am not accepting delivery, and keeping my money order. It was from a scam site,..and I didn't realize it. Was scammed by the replica insider site report. I will be working on a purchase from one of the reputable folks that I have heard about here. Looking forward to enjoying my rep and learning all I can here. Best Regards JR
