  1. Dear All .. I am contemplating bidding on a Tudor 9411 Snowflake on the Bay.. and turning the watch in for a genuine raffle here.. if there is anyone seriously going to bid on this 9411 please sound off... only if you are serious on going through with it.. I don't want to check and raise on the bidding.. I won't be bidding for myself .. so let me know.. click here to view>> 9411 on the Bay AC Lani
  2. MKII .. is top notch in quality I'm sure.. but those fat hands, bezel and placement of the DW just don't do it for me if your talking 1655.. I just love the look of the 1655.. although I don't consider my modded rep a franken it does have the genuine T-116 crystal, crown/tube..gen bracelet,.. the dial was relumed by ZM .. I love it .. AC Lani
  3. I believe the later models did have the gilt dial .. also the Arabic 5513 "MK1" was a 3-6-9 configuration in gilt.. I found the 5500 early models with standard white ticks and font lines., (or my research is way off base)... Which imo... go well with the honey tan colour gator .. it lends a nice finishing touch to the watch.. AC Lani

    Super-rep?

I've had mine for over a year now.. still running great..I have the blue and also the brown..this has a chief T. AR coat .. if you want the dial to explode ... chief's AR, invisible crystal ,.. absolutely no reflection 3717 a must have..chiefs AR 3717 to the Ceramic Top Gun also with chiefs AR or the 3719 "Slevin" also chief AR AC Lani
  5. erase .... a T19 would definitely be too large..i may be stuck with my rep acrylic for awhile... it's ok it's not that bad for now.. L
  6. Stoker ~ Chauffeur = "he who heats"..... autos were steam powered once upon a time the driver needed to 'pre-heat' the engine for it's power.. Americans called steam engine 'heater's' .."Stoker" I like "Stoker"..

  9. Mahalo A.. you would have to go franken.. but I believe classic watch parts makes a rep dial and hands.. then the 1680 MBK case set.. tropics gen acrylic and movement from Ofrei. AC Lani

  14. thanks TJ.. yes, more padding and weight .. and "Honey tan".. thought's on that ?? I think that would bring out the dial nicely.. ?? AC Lani

  17. After viewing LHOOQ's thread yesterday .. I became rejuvenated in my 1016/5500 Expl. project.. I've had the MBK rep for about a year.. and shelved it in trying to decide on the dial ... So I don't just plagiarize or totally get the facts wrong this is a great write up (as usual) by James Dowling regarding the history of the Explorer and the differences in the dial..from "Precision" ~ "Superlative" .. Expl. I "Precision" by J.Dowling Genuine 1016 "Superlative Chronometer" .. Ref. 5500 dial below MBK 1016 the dial is done fairly well .. imo the Arabic numbers could be a bit fatter though NDT 5500 dial I'm leaning toward swapping this dial I'd like to get a little thicker padding in a honey tan gator strap.. this one is a little bit to thin.. The lugs need resizing,.. I may stick with the rep crown.. Genuine 1016 A few more shots of the rep.. The rep crystal is a little too soft.. it needs a Tropic or a better after market one the case is a little smaller than I'm used to .. but this rep. makes for a nice simple dress watch ..imo Thanks for viewing AC Lani

  21. A rep dial and hands are made (not the blue) .. I think either classic watch parts.. (M.Y).. or another vendor .. the case would be a 1680 MBK, the crystal would need a genuine for the dw placement.. the genuine eta for the 9411 is relatively inexpensive.. it would still run .. give or take.. about 800 to 1k ... much more if you want a gen dial and hands.. which are getting harder to obtain.. a franken rep.. "was" on the bay yesterday.. ebay must of gotten wind of the listing .. AC Lani
  22. They have definitely grown in statue and price in the last couple of years.

  24. A gen T-19 would not fit ?? unfortunately the acrylic has to fit flush with the case .. found that one out too..awhile back there is a retail store here and the owner is a collector of vintage Rolex.. he let me into his study.. he had every Explorer known to man.. the 1655,... on and on.. he had to mop up my drool.. I've been debating this or a gilt 5513 369.. the simplicity of the bezel is outstanding on the Explorer.. I have a NDT dial with "Precision" the case from MBK is 36mm,...the T19 should fit on the MBK... small but I'm going to start that project shortly..it won't look too bad size wise with a riveted bracelet or on a nicely padded gator strap.. AC Lani
  25. Ditto to all... I was looking at a genuine .. but yours looks much better price wise.. Congrats on completion of a great looking vintage piece.. one to be proud of fo sure thanks for taking the time to post this ... AC Lani
