Deep Sea

Blue Eye's ... baby's got Blue Eye's.. blue eye's crying in the rain.. Yes.. gentlemen.. it is blue.. but I will attempt to explain the charging aspect of the colours.. This is under 1 second exposure time.. the colours have not been enhanced as you can see by the surrounding colours on the case.. I actually added some orange so not to make the image too "vivid" .. no slight of hand hea.. .. it is what it is.. OK.. the lume is a gorgeous Blue !!.. however.. this is the synopsis :.. yesterday when I first opened the box.. my first thought was of course the lume.. so I exposed it to indirect sunlight.. and saw a faint hint of blue.. "great".. Last night while getting ready to sleep I took a halogen flash light and pressed it up against the dial.. BAM..... GREEN.. WTF... I know I saw blue today .. I tell myself then watching it .. slowly turn aqua.. then blue ... did it again.. and again bright green then slowly turn blue.. this time the hands were blue the whole time .. Ok .. thinking out loud... there is green in the colour blue.. so the lume must be bringing out the green .. maybe it's the way the combined the lume.. dunno.. today whilst driving home.. again indirect sunlight.. entered the Pali Tunnel.. ahhhhh... smile.. smile.. blue all the way.. So my theory is .. simple.. it needs charging for a couple of day's after it is out of the dark cave of a box.. don't freak out.. the green in the blue will show.. and when the lume is all ready.. the blue will be dominant..am I making any sense ??

Well.. seeing that everyone is already decided .. I need not post the macro review... ... . . kidding This piece was by far the hardest to shoot.. because of the crystal.. I cannot get a clean shot.. the crystal dissolves like liquid in the image.. over 100 shots of everything.. no way I can finish it today.. I just finished with the images .. and since the Nikon is a gazillion pixels it takes forever to upload.. so whilst I'm working on the review.. along with co-authors ... I will leave one image here.. that I know everyone is dying for..and will probably skip everything to look at this first.. Ok.. give me a minute and I will leave a couple images ..hold 1 ..

i would spend a little extra for the Swiss movement.. dunno how long the lume last, it needs charging .. meaning it should be out of the box for a couple of day's before you can really tell the life span..

hey doc.. I was going to mail you to tell you to haul butt .. over ... your cup of Kona.. fo sure... she is a monsta .. for a Rolex the dial on the rep is fantastic.. first one with the correctly shaped font.. S .. with the seriffs .... Ma GOD ... !!!! and the colour of the bezel.. fogetaboutit !!! I'll be taking the macros later today so hopefully when you lumber out of bed it will be posted...

perhaps the gasket was poorly manufactured on the rep. .. as it sure sits spot on flush with the bezel as the genuines do have a slight lip .. the crystal does sit a fraction higher than the bezel (genuine).. I wonder if the rep crystal has a 'seat' built in.. As far as the dial .. I can see serifs in the S's on the rep with a loupe.. I am very excited about this .. as this is the first rep that "I" have seen with the flat S ...... well,.. that may make up for the crystal .. for me anyway.. dial will be fun to macro.. btw.. the lume is blue.. but strangely when I used a halogen light to charge it last night, when glowing bright it looked green .. then slowly turned blue.. today in the sunlight .. and whilst driving through the tunnel in the dark.. it was blue.. so perhaps before it was charged it appears green.. but it was definately blue yesterday morning and it is blue now..

Used to be like that here.. but now these models are not even in the display case.. they are in locked cabinets.. and viewed upon request .. (they told me for counterfieters) .. imagine that .. no brochures are given out .. and the main BB store.. well , my friends wife works there and they are under Japan management.. and I don't want to compromise her job.,. when I do go there.. we have to make like we don't even know each other.. not something I am fond of acting out.. If I go to the Big Island one more time.. I'm not coming back.. I'll buy a parcel up by volcanoe.. or Mountain View .. water is by catchment.. won't come back to this city..

Ok here is a pic from Samurai ... the rep looks very close to the apex of this.. but , as I stated earlier.. the crystal needs to be shot in low "background" lighting to get the proper outline of the dome .. the crytal on the rep does sit lower and is flush with the bezel though .. compared to this shot of the genuine. Points taken.. very valid I am just going by the pics of the genuine.. hard to imagine it being 40% more domed .. I need to make it to tourneau (sic).. they just recently opened in Waikiki next to the Royal ... I cannot go to Ben Bridge to often .. things are definately changing when it comes to rolex Sales.. this thread explains why

I will have to take the macros for you to determine how well the rep is..

so busy with the bezel and rehaut.. take a look at the dial font....on the genuine and compare it to the rep..the S's and the coronet.. Genuine is also in small pic above ^ this is the first dial where the font is .. "NAILED".. may not be perfect but closer than any other.. the S's.. are superb !!.. and the coronet !! edit add: oh ma GGGGG !!!! look at the font on the dial.. praise the maker for printing the SSSS's so flat ... one in a row !!

after cropping and closing in on the bezel (genuine) .. I would say it has no clear coat to fill the numerals.. it is as the GMTCII .. I think the member who posted that Q has gotten a different makers rep.. edit add: @mj.. look at the rehaut lettering.. you may be happy that the genuine has the same effect when viewed slightly off centered..the lettering is closer to the edge

some member posted that he is recieving his and his pal has the genuine.. I would think that he will post a comparison.. with the christmas mail the travel time is tripled right now with these parcels.. can't wait for the genuine and rep side by side..

We notice it because we are looking for the exact item... and yes,.. they could make it "perfect" (if they wanted to).. but they are treading on very dangerous ground if they do.. it would be naivete.. on our part to think they make these errors without knowing it.. edit add:.. look this is a pic of the genuine .. same same.. I stand corrected.. I think the maker "hit it"!

if you mean does the numerals on the bezel feel sharp .. no .. if you mean are the numerals filled in with a clear coat.. no.. it's not as smooth as glass but not really rough either.. the pearl looks great.. and it is also blue when charged .. but this will need a day out of the box to get charged to where I can take lume shots..but the little I saw of it today .. I was happy.. Blue.. Blue !! @mj ..here's another pic .. and they will never .. ever rep a Rolex to exact specs.. I think we can figure out why .. one line ... Swiss Federation .. it's not perfect.. but not terrible.. keeping in mind that this is a rep..

it is a hair closer to the edge of the rehaut than the genuine.. but I expected some flaws along this line.. (I was hoping it was this rather than the engraving) I believe there is a reason the maker "adds" .. very subtle .. flaws.. that really only we could point out .. or others who are as studied.. but 95% of the population (again IMO) ,.. will not notice this .. it's really not that bad in person.. looking straight on is ok..

don't stress .. it is normal for this time of the year.. .. cannot go by the tracking info or how many day's.. it will arrive in good time.. look at how long my parcel was backlogged in Customs.... it took 11 day's .. and we are closer to the USPS deadline for mailing so expect another gazillion parcels in the mail now.. I would say maybe at the end of this week.. but best just to think .. beggining of next week.. easier on the mind

Noticing that since the bracelet is good quality and the clasp is "solid" and thicker because of the ratchet mechanism, and the SELS are solid ,.. it balances very well.. good question btw.. .. I'm shaking it and it stays put even with it a little loose fitting.. I don't like to feel like I'm wearing hand cuffs, so I wear it so I can fit my pinky snug in between the clasp and my wrist..

here's another pic.. the crystal is starting to mezmarize me like the 1665 super dome.. this dome sapphire looks like water from some angles.. also another (crappy) pic .. not macro.. of the rehaut..

You will be pleased.. but remember this is Rolex' biggest watch to date .. (I know I will be corrected if wrong ) and for the purpose of the "Deep Sea" it is very thick .. the case back rides high.. ergo the balance is not that of a dressier piece.. the ratchet adjustment is actually designed by Rolex.. so you can wear this over your dive suit.. then adjust it for your wrist coming out of the water .. so it is as you are wondering .. a little top heavy.. but having said that I have had it on for a couple hours now.. and although top heavy the rep balances well on the wrist.. this was meant to be a 'working watch".. IMO.. the end justifies the means.. .. again ... MO

The case back TI is awesome though.. looks like they got this dead on.. it will not need oxidizing.. the feel of the finish of the TI is really comfortable on the skin .. kinda velvety
