Servicing vs repair...cost of ETA parts is skyrocketing...
lanikai replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
I have learned the hard way ... through modders that have literally destroyed my reps. .. so if Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results... I can count myself quite sane (in some regards) Ziggy is the only one I can rely on to do an honest "superb" Job !.. PR last longer .. gears feel smooth as silk .. but best I feel 'confident" that it was handled by someone who takes pride and perfection in their work... a hard trait to find these day's ~"Old School" -

So, part of your relatives Raped and Pilaged through England .. and relatives on your Mum's side fancied the Wild Devils that were from the North ... hopped on their dragon boats .. took to being Nomads with their Viking Men.. (sounds like a Biker Movie today) ..... traveled the World until Valhala called ... prayed to Oden for children.... and Bam ... here you are today..... great story line.. a Movie script is on it's way.. but we'll mix it with you travelling back in time to witness all this.. then getting stuck in the middle of a epic battle and ending up marrying one of your ancestors... ..... no ?? Ok.. I'll rewrite that part

Happy New Year to ALL EU !!!! You all have a head start on 2009 .... I meant this thread not as how much "time" you have or that anyones "better" because of it.. but rather as a "mindset".. that's what "Old School" is to me.. far removed from the Modern "let's make it easier with a shortcut".. it may not be as good.. but it'll be easier.. the ooposite of what I call "ol school" not quite 3:00 pm New years Eve here..

To Old Friends and New ones.. to the Admin Team .. (All Friends) .. Thank you for the Memories of 2008 .. for "Auld Lang Syne" and as the song say's I am looking forward to the memories yet to be had in 2009~ Aloha Mai~ Lanikai ~ PS.. it took the commeraderie on this forum for me to finally research this traditional song... again another moment owed to you all being here.. Our national New Year's anthem. How'd it happen? Glad you asked. Sing up Here is an old Scots version of Auld Lang Syne: Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot And days of auld lang syne? Chorus (repeated between stanzas): For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne. And surely ye'll be your pint stoop And surely I'll be mine And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne. We twa hae run about the braes And pou'd the gowans fine But we've wander'd mony a weary foot Sin' auld lang syne. We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn Frae mornin' sun till dine But seas between us braid hae roared Sin' auld lang syne. And here's a hand, my trusty fiere And gi'e's a hand o' thine And we'll tak a right good willy waught For auld lang syne. Auld Lang Syne means ``old long since'' and is adapted from a traditional Scottish folk tune. The basic words date to at least 1711, though some scholars say it was mentioned as early as 1677. Scottish poet Robert Burns is credited with first publishing it, in the mid-1790s, and, researchers say, smoothing out some of the verses and changing the melody. The song recalls the days gone by and says we will always remember them. ``Should auld acquaintance be forgot?'' it asks. No, the chorus replies: ``For auld lang syne (for times gone by), we'll tak (drink) a cup o' kindness yet.'' As for the other lyrics, Verse 2 refers to friends at separate places (or pubs), drinking to each other. Verses 3 and 4 talk about a long journey to find that friend, running ``about the braes'' (hillsides), and ``pou'd the gowans fine'' (pulled the pretty daisies), and getting tired doing so (``wander'd mony a weary fit,'' or ``a weary foot'' depending on the version). It continues with wading streams (``paidl'd in the burn''), from dusk until dinnertime, but even then, broad (``braid'') seas roar between them. But finally, in the last verse, the friends find each other. And they ``tak a right guid-willie waught'' (``drink a goodwill drink'') for times gone by. It wasn't Burns, however, who turned this misty-eyed tune into a New Year's tradition. That would be Guy Lombardo, who first heard the song in his youth from Scottish immigrants in his hometown of London, Ontario. Mr. Traher, who organizes the Royal Canadian Big Band Music Festival and tribute to Lombardo every year in London, says the song stuck in the musician's head. When Lombardo formed an orchestra with his brother in 1919, they arranged the piece and made it part of their repetoire. ``It seemed appropriate for New Year's -- a time to look back,'' Mr. Traher says. So when the Lombardo brothers got the chance to headline a New Year's Eve party in New York in 1929, they played Auld Lang Syne near midnight, then counted down. For nearly 50 years after that, Guy Lombardo and his orchestra played New Year's Eve radio, and later, television specials from the Waldorf Astoria. ``Prior to Dick Clark, there was Guy Lombardo,'' Mr. Traher says, and though Lombardo died in 1977, Auld Lang Syne became a staple. Now there are pop versions of the song, disco remixes -- even a controversial British single of the Lord's Prayer sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne topping the charts in the United Kingdom this month. George Reynoso, an independent music retailer in El Paso, Texas, sells a CD through his Web site (www.newyearseve-song.com/) that includes country, polka and dance versions of the standard. ``The Lombardo version is sleepy, dreamy, it definitely needed an update,'' Mr. Reynoso says. He adds that he got the idea from Corrido de Auld Lang Syne, a hard-to-find Mexican dance version of the song. ``It's engrained in the consciousness,'' Mr. Reynoso says of Auld Lang Syne's appeal. And even though people aren't sure what it means, it sounds sad and soothing at once, he says. ``It's a song about loss, but also about love -- a hope that you'll see the same people you love next year.'' Really? ``Well, that's the way I think about it,'' Mr. Reynoso says. ``But no, I don't know the words.''

Ok.. thought I would post.. since I know there should be a few opinions I can evaluate to decide on weather: I should get my Slevin lumed with the new white to blue Lume Ziggy has in ... It will show white and charge blue... the genuine I am assuming is green when charged .. jus thought it would be something of a different look .. blue is a nice colour as it is .. but a blue lume would be great.. (ok I'm trying to sell it to myself for the Slevin ) And it would show (dry, not charged) white anyway.. Thoughts .. thank you in advance L

I know I can joke without you getting twisted brah.. some members have the gift of posting all the ideal thought's in one or two paragraphs.. I am not one of them.. it's an art form .. no shit

yes Zirrr... the yellow looks like the past and the present combined.. they used this colour from the genuine for the rep.. which makes sense .. it would be the most challenging without a genuine sample.. since they already repped the other colours from the skyland etc. plus I have alway's been partial to "School Bus" yellow..

agree "one hundred" !! the Old Schoolers are much more "attention to detail" than most genuine owners I talk to .. they're thirst for the history and knowledge cannot be matched ! some newer members get discouraged .. well, I have come to learn that this forum mixes "fun" with serious knowledge.. and that knowledge can be misunderstood...as far as communicating it.. so to the newer arrivals and to the members with 1 or 2 years here .. the original members mean well ! somethings are lost with the different languages .. as different cultures perceive words not in their native language differently, and can convey them differently.. if I tried to speak their language i would surely screw it up .. and I give all the kudo's for them to be able to do this in just english !! .. thank G for me.. So if ya wanna learn and knowledge is definately power.. then "principles before personalities" works the best..

It is very much the "type" of lighting... weather direct sunlight or indirect light in the shade.. here is a pic of DBR's genuine.. exactly as yours is.. the pushers in indirect lighting are darker.. as if the roundness of the pushers enable the DLC to "absorb" the light and darken the brushed sides of the case will lighten to a shade of gray in the indirect light.. Look at the pusher @1:00 .. it is darker.. and the crown... where as the pusher @4 with more light on it is a lighter grey.. Now look what happens in direct sunlight.. it absorbs the light and darkens.. this is not a computer enhanced image..

"Old School" .. is not just about "Time" but about a "Mind Set" Combine "Time and Mind Set" and you have "Old School" First of all I hope this thread is taken in the spirit that I intend it to be I have been hanging around this Community for about 2 years now and have seen members come and go .. some happily.. some not ... and in the time that I have been lucky to make valued friends and "learn" .. ( I still have a long way to go) .. I have a understanding of what some of the veterans are going through.. Now, to qualify what I am saying here, I will use my "experience" in another "Community" of sorts. I have been training in gyms since I was 12 years of age .. and when I talk to people that I just meet.. they refer to my mind set as "Old School" (those who understand it) I have a mind set for, the way to train.. the attitude of that training... and the way a gym should be treated,.. as far as the equipment and respect for it.. and for others training at the same time.. it's called now,.. "gym etiquette"... yeah, there is an unwritten "manners" to the gym.. or used to be. We are there to train.. not wildly socialize ... Members who are preparing for contest or "shows" are to be given priority on all equipment .. weather your using it or not.. no matter how "big or small" they are.. they are training to "Win" ,.. and we should be there to respect that. Weights should not be left on any bars,.. dumbells should not be dropped to the ground.. respect of your tools is all important !! It should be like you are entering your "Dojo" and you should not use your "feet" to push bars or dumbells on the floor. You do not monopolize equipment.. in other words .. you do not put your towel on a equipment to say ... "only I can use this right now".. always allow others to "work in" .. and always ask if others are using equipment before helping yourself to it. Don't grunt like your lifting a car.. if you have to .. then it's too heavy, so don't try and impress and do half movements just so you have 300 lbs. on the bench. When payed a compliment on your "guns" .. be humble, say thanks.. and act like "you been there before" .. it took sweat and hard work to get them.. don't flaunt them.. cover up... Wipe your sweat off all equipment before leaving it.. Train Hard .. or Go Home !! .. shut up and lift !! .. there is only one way to train.. HARD! OK I think I made my point of "Old School" .. too bad these ideals don't exist anymore in most .. almost every gym. members walking around you talking, and putting back plates on the power rack that you are lifting 540 lbs off of in an attempt to squat.. asking you a question while your in the middle of a rep.. it's a "Mind Set" along with "time" along with "People" that were "taught and assimilated the same" .... OLD SCHOOL MINDSET I have been around like I say for about 2 years.... but I do not qualify myself as "Old School" RWG... why? because the members who started on the original RWG forums .. "grew up" with different reps and at a different economic times. Reps were not as detailed as they are today.. ergo,.. to get the rep. to be authentic.. they had to go Franken.. with genuine parts .. and were very , very meticulous in their attention to detail .. of course genuine parts were less expensive 5 years ago .. now they are outrageous .. IMO .. supply and demand.. RWG ,.. by far is the most technically membered forum on the net. WHY ? .. because of the "Old School" members that pass knowledge on to the newer members.. Now granted some have left .. IMO because they miss the "old way's" .. the coziness of a small tight community... that has grown into a mini megalopolis of watch forums.. with multinational members..but still has the karisma of caring and helping.. that will never leave .. again IMO.. So .. what I'm really getting at is: some newer members even us Junior Members.. may feel some of the old Schoolers are ragging on threads .. ie. incorrect font .. date window.. rehaut.. etc. .. but in reality are correct and reacting the way they were taught. But, like I am in the gym.... after getting frustrated at the new breed of "gangsta kids" .. who cannot respect what it takes to "Train to win" .. and only want big arms and chest .. no legs... ... I come across at times as condescending .. mainly because when these kids ask for help.. then quit half way through the workout .. because it's obvious they don't want to work so hard or the "pain" is too much.. (real tough guy's ) ... cause I am "Old School" . And when I see a member that is joining from our old "Golds Gym" .. which recently closed and we greet each other like only kindred spirits do.. with a manly hug .. that is the camaraderie .. that "Old School" members have for each other.. So My message here is, if your new.. or like me Junior... don't be discouraged or take things personal .... I myself will never be on the same plain as the original members nor try and immulate their expertise... and I don't say that with any bitterness.. but rather as a way of saying "I understand" that those who started off with the original RWG will always be just that .. the charter members ... But we are now a bit of old and a bit of new ... some may say wow, some of those members are really harsh... just understand .. why RWG is so technically informed.. it's because of members that are so bent on perfection Read Tribals.. or Ubi's reviews.. no frills( great pics .. but no need for the faux boxes etc.) .. all tech commentary... simple short .. Sweet !! .. Or Ziggy's tear downs of movements... precise ... a wealth of information !! Old school !! So when Kruzer say's "Old School" ( hope it's OK to use this analogy W. it's meant in the most positive way) .. IMO .. he is connecting with kindred spirits.. of day's gone by.. Similar to what I do when getting together with friends that I used to train with back in the day when we competed ... to win.. not just to be on stage.. we always say.. " those day's are gone"... training 3 times a day.. living at the gym.. Waikiki World Gym ... the "Old School" day's So again in conclusion... I mean this thread as a positive to the original RWG members and maybe some insight to members who are wondering why so much fuss over reps. ... they are as good as they are today .. in large part to the "Old School RWG members" Aloha~Cheers Lani PS.. @ RobbieG ... hey brah, if your going to post ... you are restricted to a "I agree" or " I do not agree" ... Nah... jus keep it under 100 words or less... ... Joke brah.. ...
