  1. Just got a 45mm Planet Ocean in the mail, with a 21J movement (dg2813 i suppose) What its doing is this, the seconds hand slows down the then gets stuck at around 4 oclock. After a little shake or winding it gets going again. It will go for a couple of minutes and get stuck again :/ I have wound it, poped the pin spun it around a few times but its all no good. Does this look like an obvious problem? If so can it be fixed easily enough? Naturally I contacted the dealer, they recommended I try to get a local watch-smith to fix it for me (highly unlikely) or send it back but i have to pay 25 bucks for shipping and handling costs to them, (pretty much what a new movement costs). Ina bit of a dilemma and don't know what I should do at this point. Any advice would be very much appreciated guys. Cheers
  2. Reposted in watch repair, probably belongs there.

  4. think i found the problem.. Get firefox and live happily ever after
  5. Had this watch for a few years, was a great beater that you could abuse and not feel guilty about. Somehow the strap on it came off and its been lying around ever since. I figured it was a lost cause, probably some custom screw made for this watch that's going to be a wild goose chase, so what do you do? ask someone that may know. here is the beast This is the hex screw that Im after, that seem to screw into the metal pin that sits in the strap that strap and pin which has a thread on the inside So the question naturally is: Is this a standard part or screw that I can somehow get hold of? Its about 3mm in diameter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys
  6. here is a guide on how do it, there are some pics when you scroww down. http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WatchSchool/WS%2011%20How%20to%20remove%20and%20replace%20a%20watch%20movement/WS%2011%20How%20to%20remove%20and%20replace%20a%20movt.htm I did this for the first time myself about a week ago, since then i have done it to about 4 watches
  7. got a bit of work done on it today and Im pretty happy with it. I just cleaned the gold parts didnt polish it yet (contemplating using brasso). Put another strap I found on another watch in the box of old stuff Here are the pics Good ol wrist shot. I have large wrists and this is a smaller watch than what Im used to, making it look a little on the feminine side but I do still enjoy wearing it. Naturally it still has a few scratches, not sure if i should go through the motions again and take it back another layer on the crystal/plastic. Still a huge improvement from when I still got it. Thanks again for the advice guys

  9. Hi Guys, doing some clearing out and found my wife's grandfathers old Omega watch. Its a bit scratched but is keeping great time, and I would really like to clean it up. Now can you guys give me advice on mainly how to clean up the crsytal, if it indeed crystal I dont even know. The watch has an engraving of here papas name on the back and the date in 9/5/1963, the date he bought it or was given to him one would assume. here are some pics of the job, took the bands off, they were looking horrible any advice would be very much appreciated.

  11. The media are vampires, anyone with half a brain knows that and I doubt anyone is disputing it. They are looking for things gone wrong to cover, then whip that horse till death, and continue to whip it some more. Now Tiger, hes an idiot for thinking that he could get away with it indefinitely and not anticipating what would happen when he finally got caught. He may be rich as [censored], but all that money cannot buy him anonymity. Someone as well known as him, cannot go [censored] around and not get caught out sooner or later. Not taking the moral high ground here, [censored], if I had that sort of dough Id be ploughing a different bird every night too. You just don't do it when your married with 2 kids and that well known.
  12. Won't affect him in the least, the endorsements have already made him many millions over the years. Don't care or feel sorry for him.
  13. My god that is a sweet watch! And normally Im not very fond of Breitlings, you may have just converted me
  14. To me it depends on what you want to do, I have both, they are just tools in the end. Work buys all my hardware so Im lucky there. I use PC much more, and I get more value. The software I use mostly is cross platform (adobe suite) but I you can get a pc twice as fast for the same price as a Mac. The way the Apple does business also irritates me and puts me off them, the prices they charge for what is pc hardware is ridiculous. I dont care about a pretty box and looking hip and smug, its only a goddamn computer at the end of the day. The pretentiousness that comes with Apple really makes me embarrassed to have one at times I must say. Having said that, there is some great exclusive software on the Mac that is awesome. Final cut, Motion are excellent and my brother uses Logic for music production just to state a few (he is a big Mac fan, has 2). The Mac platform as stated many times before is also very stable. my 2cents
