I can provide references if you need. Can anyone help me complete my Mods? Need the best possible Sub inserts/vintage pearls, period correct bracelets for the Red Sub 5513 sub (meters first), 5517 Sub and 1655 Dweller. I have a source for Gen Crowns and tubes, spring bars and crystals. So a trade off is possible. Thanks, Kurt.

Thanks. Nice pair yourself. How's the Two-Tone Sub look in person? I have a friend dying for one. Merry Christmas. Thanks. -
Three grades of the Dremel thin sanding disc wheels were used. I had my loupe and a steady hand. Pictures of gens and my recollection of the 5 or so subs I've had helped. Also, You must be fearless........another word for stupid

] Done with a Dremel and I only removed the Crown and stem. Covered the Tube with tape and a steady hand. Thanks for the feedback, Kurt.

A few Gens thrown in for good measure. Happy Holidays to all

Old factory case, beautiful nickel movement, Gen dial and hands. This one gets the most wrist time.

Crown Gaurd Mods....first Attempt. Feedback Needed....
Justasgood replied to Justasgood's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks and yes, they are still rough. I figured I needed a little more work on them. I have the Dremel but need the correct rouge. I have a bar of the Green and need some finer grit paper to smooth out the finished product.... -
Thanks Timm. I have had 3 versions of this wtahc as a Gen. 2 Autos and 1 quartz (moment of weakness whilst off the meds) I have always loved the dial color and in all honesty, the Rep held it's own for a long time. And unless you had them side by side, it was/is a great looking Rep and a solid value in general as a nice timepiece. Of course now, I'll have to sell it because it looks close to the Gen, but it's flaws are now Glaringly obvious. But isn't that true of all things. The closer you get, the worse things look.....um....wait a minute.....never mind. I didn't mean to bring my dating experiences to this discussion....my bad

Okay, maybe that's a stretch you decide. Before : Nice rep. I know the crown guard is wrong, but the movement is very nice (ETA) and accurate +3 secs/day and the bracelet is near spot on (I know because my friend has my old Gen of this model) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/08218947.jpg After: Gen Dial and hands installed and still keeping +3 secs/day only now, I can gauge the accuracy at night http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega017.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega016.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega012.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega011.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega008.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega009.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/Kurt1/NewMega019.jpg Been swimming, worn in the shower, worn while playing golf and still, keeps great time and only cost me $175.00. You can bet my buddy who bought my old Gen for $1000.00 thinks it's ugly Thoughts, advice and criticism always welcome. BTW, Why can't I get the image to show now? I tried everything I know. I've not had this problem in the past. Has something changed?

I have this watch: which has a great ETA movement. I have picked up a Gen. dial and hands. Obviously, the Gen has a thinner movement. Myb question: Will the 2892 fit this case that is currently running the 2824 movement? I would prefer the 2892 because the dia; feet on the Gen dial are shorter and I have to use dial dots to secure it to the 2824. New dial and hands installed: Will the stem alignment be okay using the 2892 and I would simply need a different spacer for the thinner movement? I guess at the end of the day I want to know what exactly can and can't be done without sever modification. Thanks, Kurt.

Very nice! I'm gonna have to pick one of those up. Wearing my Davidsen creation:

Thanks. I started with a 100 grit to remove the polished surface and take down some marks from strap changes. Then went to a green 3m pad (not sure of grit but it is very fine), then a 180 grit followed by a cape cod cloth. Then again with the 180 grit and a follow by the green pad and a final light rub down with the cod and my hands. Maybe not a look for everyone, but my concern is not that it look like the "Gen". Rather that I like the look. Regards, Kurt.
