  1. Thanks offshore! Appreciate it! Also thanks to stolikat! I had a lot of fun on this one and learned a lot along the way. I hope that this inspires others to take on the challenge to repair their own watches. It is nerve racking, stressful, and at times very frustrating. However, once you complete the project, there is no better feeling of accomplishment!!!
  2. For today, my finally re-assembled SMP Chrono
  3. Watch Re-Assembly Complete!!!!! Thank you to everyone who periodically checked in on this thread and gave your support and encouragement!! Couldn't have finished it without you! And now some pics!!! And the wrist shot:
  4. Pm'd exocet & psychowu. dcap04. Haven't found a local valley repair yet. I am in LA and work in Burbank. Still looking for someone a little more local. In the meantime, I have stocked up on tools and I have started doing some repairs to my watches myself. Let me know if you want me to PM you the info for the watch repair folks in the OC.
  5. Thanks TooMuch! I will look into that. To be honest, it really doesn't bother me that much, but I am sure in time I will want to mod this one. If anyone has any other thoughts about what could be done to the watch to make it that much better, your input is greatly appreciated!!! Cheers
  6. Logan, You did an absolutely bang up job on this one! The effort put forth on this project is certainly very evident and you deserve all the credit the guys are posting about it! It will be well cared for and very much loved!
  7. The bracelet and great looking blue bezel are what sold me on this one. I love the fact it uses pins, and the engraving on the clasp is outstanding. I will post some pics tomorrow
  8. So I decided to go with the quartz movement for this watch. I definitely have the bug though, and now I am lusting after a new franken project. Just can't decide which one.......although the Tuder Sub is one sexy beast! I will post some pics once the SMP Chrono is assembled
  9. Hi Guys, Got this in the mail today. Thought I would share it with you! Wrist Shot: Lume Shot:
  10. Started off the day with this classic Speedmaster Date: But then got this SMP in the mail today, so now we are getting acquainted
  11. +1 on the Panda for sure! It is gorgeous
  12. I was thinking about the lume actually. The hands are Gen Omega Flightmaster hands and they really glow nicely. The rest of the dial is pretty faint in comparison. As for the hour indices, I don't know if extending them would work out too well. They seem to be the right overall size, just in the wrong spot. Is it even possible to move them outwards at all? Here is a good shot from the web for a gen 1655. Compared to mine, as I stated, the hour indices seem to be the same size, just pushed out to the edge of the dial.
  13. Nato came with the watch, so I am not sure where it is from. Thanks asimplefarmer! I saw it and had to have it. Now I need to pick some other ones to sell to help pay for it!
  14. Liking the 1655 Lani! Where did you aquire the SS braclet for it?
  15. These are the specs from the seller: "Josh case with drilled lugholes, gen Omega flightmaster hands, serviced Swiss eta 2836-2 with GMT module, phong dial, open 6 and 9 date wheel and shaved gen 1680 crystal (for better magnification and look)."
  16. Thanks John. I have been searching the web obsessing over photos of Gen 1971 - 1973 1655's and I just can't find anything wrong with this one. It looks absolutely fantastic!
  17. Hi guys. Got back from vacation and this morning on my desk was my newly acquired 1655 Explorer II Steve McQueen. I just love this piece. The vintage look of this watch is spectacular and the (I believe) Nato watch strap just sets this watch off nicely. Here's some pics:
  18. My first wrist check and I am wearing my newly acquired 1655 Steve McQueen. I am loving this watch!!!
  19. I've been eyeing the Brookstone Quad Watch Winder for a little bit now. It seems to get pretty good reviews and it is not badly priced. Plus I like its simple style. It's not so over the top like the wolf or the orbita winders. Sells for $199 Anyone have any experience with this one?
  20. Awesome! Thanks chinkiechunkie for setting this up!!! Looking forward to meeting everyone. Being this is my first GTG, besides having a few pints and chatting, do we bring watches with us? Just curious
  21. One other thought. Are there any other members who have some Miyota OS10 movements lying around that are broken that I can take the broken date wheel gear assembly from? Offshore, I know that you mentioned you might have some but they have the same issues that mine has currently. Thanks!
  22. So after some research, it looks as though an A7750 would do the trick. The Miyota Quartz movement has one really obvious flaw. The running seconds are at 6 o'clock instead of 9. The 7750 looks like it might work, but I am wondering if the spacing on the dial will work out for a 7750. Any thoughts?
  23. Its not as though you are at a disadvantage being on a PC, but life is definitely easier on the mac. The software is already built in and they play really well with DV cameras right out of the box.
