I'll bring in my calipers to work tomorrow and check out the diam of the crystal. I hope it is something that I can find a replacement for.
Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of a gen tropic 127 are?
Are there any size issues with the rep cases? I remember reading another post about building a 1680 and you guys had mentioned issues with some cases not fitting a gen tropic crystal. I am not sure who's case this is either.
.....when you spend twenty minutes doing a gen vs rep side by side comparison in photoshop, then post it, then spend another 5 minutes finding that perfect smiley to go along with the post
Just for interest, I thought I would do a little side by side comparison of a gen I found and my watch. I set the date and time the same and tried my best to match the photo angle.
Tell me what you think this one is. My guess is that it is about 2x magnification. It just doesn't pop as much as Nanuq's does. Not that I am complaining or anything. I really like the look of this piece, but I am curious about what it should look like.
Nanuq,
Love the re-lumed hands. They look really good. Also like your date cyclops. Seems like more magnification than mine. What is the correct mag amount? 2x or 2.5x?
Nanuq,
Here are some better shots of the CG for you. I am not sure I understand what you mean about your CG's? Also, if you get a chance, can you post some pics of your refurbished hands?
Yuki has this dial, but it has a hyphen in between Oyster Prince. From the pics of some gens they don't seem to have this. Is this a correct dial? It isn't listed as an aftermarket. Yuki states it as being used.
Fantastic suggestions guys! Thank you very much. I have been frantically searching around for dials, and I will continue to do so. Keeps me entertained in the morning as I have breakfast. And at lunch.....and at dinner......and watching TV........etc
Let the hunt begin!!
Hi there. I just acquired this on the weekend and thought I would share some pics for you.
My new "Vintage" Rolex 1680 Submariner. Nato G10 and Bond Straps are on their way but in the meantime it's on a nice panatime.com nylon strap.
I just love how the strap marks look on this!

A year is fine....or more. I am just looking forward to the journey of sourcing the parts and then building it. I think in the end, the finished product will have so much more meaning for me than a watch I purchase or trade for. That is the part that I am most looking forward to.
Now I have taken my first baby steps towards my new journey!
J,
Well, as I learned in this project, the right tools are the key to any succesful repair job. I of course learned that the hard way. By using the thumb tack to push the stem release, I inadvertantly created a whole new project for myself!!!
However, I am very happy that I did that as I forced myself to learn more about watch repair and assembly. Of course, now I have the bug and I want more, more, more!!!!
Hi guys,
I am just loving the snowflake tudors that keep popping up in review and in wrist shots. After completing my SMP Chrono rebuild, I now have the bug to take on something a little more serious.
So with that being said, I would love to start the hunt for the parts needed for a Tudor Snowflake Sub (No Date). Can you help?
I am relatively new to RWG, so I am not all that familiar yet as to where I can source the parts I will need. Movements I can find, but cases and dials seem to be a little bit harder.
Any tips and direction would be superb!
Wow Lani! Great aquisition! Love the G10 strap too. I totally agree, the SS braclet is getting a little much (and I have only been around here for short month now!)
