  1. According to the dealer that I got the watch from, this model isn't available anymore, only the one with the wrong logo. I have no idea...
  2. Brief Model History The first Formula 1 model was introduced back in 1986. The model summed up years of collaboration between Heuer and Formula 1. 6 years later, Tag Heuer was chosen as the official time keeper of Formula 1 racing cup. Many Formula 1 drivers have joined Tag Heuer through the years: Ayrton Senna, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to name a few. Further more, Heuer has sponsored the Ferrari team and later the McLaren Mercedes team. In 2004, Tag Heuer became the official time keeper for the Indy 500 racing as well, and added the Indy 500 watch as part of it's Formula 1 series. The Gen Specs Crystal type: Scratch Resistant Sapphire Case material: Stainless Steel Case diameter: 45 Millimeters Case Thickness: 13 Millimeters Band material: Stainless Steel Bezel material: Stainless Steel Bezel Function: Tachymeter Calendar: Date Movement: Swiss quartz Water resistant: 660 Feet The Rep in Detail The Rep specs are about the same. I can only guess that the quartz movement isn't really Swiss, and it won't live to see 660 feet under water, but everything else is the same as the gen. The chronograph works great, and follows the exact same functions as the gen. The hands reset to zero, and you can set the zero point if you need to, at the exact same way it's done by the gen. The date isn't perfectly aligned. On certain days it's quite noticeable, while on other days it's almost perfect. Not really a major issue IMO, but could be for some people. The overall build quality is quite good. The crown is tight, the chrono pushers feels quite good, and being a quartz watch, there's no worry about accuracy nor reliability in the short run. The case diameter is 45mm including the crown, but it wears smaller than that. It actually doesn't look bigger than my 42mm PO. The bracelet feels a bit cheap and the clasp isn't the best I've seen, but it seem to hold pretty good so far and at to me it looks very close to the gen bracelet. The date mechanism is what you'd expect from a cheap quartz. It starts changing at about 22:30 and finishes at about 00:30. No biggie, but surprised me the first time I've noticed it. Overall, this is a very nice watch for the price. I got it as a beater to go with casual clothing and sport activities, and it does the job very well. It's comfortable to wear, the chrono works very good (and I actually use it many times), and IMO it's a great looker. The Flaws - Rep to Gen Comparsion I'm no expert at finding flaws, and since most flaws of any rep are very hard to notice at real life situations, I don't really care about them, but I'm aware that most people do, so here are my findings. First of all, a major flaw that isn't shown on the websites' pics, and wasn't there in earlier reps, is the logo (rep on left, gen on right). ............................. Another flaw, but a minor one, is the number 12. On the rep it's a bit thicker than on the gen, and a bit tilted. Here's how it looks on the rep (compare to the gen photo): And finally, the last flaw I could find, and was always there with Indy reps, is the lack of the Tag Heuer writing on the left side of the case. Bear in mind: These flaws are much more hard to see in real life. The pic is zoomed in a way that no one except yourselves will ever look. That's it, hope you found the review useful....
  3. oops, work in progress... clicked submit by mistake.
  4. What watches are next on your wish list? Mine are IWC 3717, IWC ingy and the Ebel 1911 Discovery Panda.....
  5. I actually prefer the quartz reps on chrono watches because of the problems the A7750 has: 1. It's much more expensive than quartz. 2. It has a lot of reliability issues. 3. It can't replicate many watches' sub dial spacing, so sometimes the quartz version costs much less and is in fact much more accurate. On non-chrono watches, I like to get the "soul' as you call it of the auto movements. It has less problems, at a decent price.
  6. What about letting the watch lose it's power reserve? Any risk it won't "come back to life" after sitting a while? I'm talking especially about the cheaper asian movements..
  7. I want to order a box set for my Tag and Omega, and I've noticed that watch eden has them at an almost reasonable price (90$ for both after coupon). Did anyone try them and can tell if they're any good? Does anyone know of another dealer that has them at a cheaper price? Thanks...
  8. I'm the CEO of a small company called my own life... Sounds good, I know, but for every move I need the approval of the one-manned (or should I say womanned) board of directors......
  9. Just got my first Tag. I'm gonna post a detailed review soon (as soon as my camera returns from the lab), but just a quick question. The bracelet is very light and flimsy, if I compare it to the PO's bracelet, it looks much cheaper. Is it just my rep, or is this just the Tag standard?
  10. It's easy By-Tor, every link that has the topic title in the url is wrong. non working links are of the "..../topictitle-tXXXXXX.html" format working links are of the "...index.php?showtopic=XXXXXX" format.
  11. That's because the board recently changed it's address format. If you ever run into a link error in RWG, simply change it to the new format. for example: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Omega-Smp-...t9242.html should be changed to: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=9242 simply copy the numbers after the t into the new format.
  12. I'm looking into buying the cheaper version of the 3717, and every dealer has them with the asian 21j movement which usually mean (as they admit) non working chrono. I was actually hoping to find a quartz version with a working chrono. Then I looked at watch eden, and found this one: http://www.watcheden.com/iwc-pilot-chrono-...-19786-p-1.html They claim that it's a working chrono. I've never seen an automatic working chrono at that price (108$ after coupon). What's the catch? Which movement are they using? Ok, I got it... It's not a chrono at all. It's something else... But does anybody know if the pushers do anything?
  13. Doesn't really matter, this could happen to any dealer that dropships... However, if the dealer claims to QC, than The Zigmeister should consider to "out" him.
  14. Hey, Thanks for the kind offer. I'd love to get one of the 42mm inserts. Just let me know how do you want to get the money.
  15. I'm looking for the non-chrono link, and couldn't find a decent rep. Where can I get one? Thanks a lot..
  16. I only did it once, and it wasn't easy at all. I've tried all the professional methods and non worked. Finally I did it the easiest way, i took a small screwdriver, used it to pop out the pearl, then inserted the screwdriver into the pearl hole and with a fair amount of force pulled out the bezel insert. Of course the insert is ruined after that, but the purpose is to get it replaced, so who cares?
  17. You're right, if it wasn't that hard to find, I'd probably managed to find one myself. Thanks for trying.... Nice watch... Any reliable cheap source for that one? Also, the REPs I've seen are of the classic, bit boring model, is there any REP for this one: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;hl=Ingenieur
  18. Thanks, very nice watch, but couldn't find a non-chrono version, like I want. Is there anything like that? could you link to a seller?
  19. Hey all, after trying in several specific forums, I couldn't really find what I was looking for, so I'm trying here... I'm looking for a nice sporty/classy watch that will be: 1. Not Omega, Rolex, Panerai, Breitling, Hublot. Something like IWC or TAG would be nice. 2. Black dial, SS bracelet. 3. Med size: 40-43mm. 4. AR coating of some kind, preferably a sapphire crystal. 5. Non-quartz and non-chrono. 5. Price under 150$. Maybe that's a lot to ask, but my 42mm PO answers all of those demands (except of course the brand), and cost ~100$ with shipping. So, I'm looking for that kind of bargain. Obviously, it will have an asian 21j movement of some kind, and that's fine by me. If possible, please share not only the watch model, but also the source to purchase it. Thanks a lot to all, any recommendation would be highly appreciated.
  20. Very nice mod! Could you share with the rest of us, how did you do it? It's the first thing I'd like to do with my POrikaa...
  21. Thank you both for the reply. I never said I want a chrono, I'm very aware to the fact that a working chrono raises the price quite a lot. I've seen some very nice Aquatimers without chrono. Could you recommend a dealer the keeps those REPs? even better maybe a specific watch from a specific dealer? Thanks again..
  22. Hey all, been looking to expand my watch collection, and I set my eyes on the Aquatimer. In the Rep world, I'm very cheap, and not willing to spend more than 150$ on a watch (I did spend more than 1000$ on a gen). Is there any decent Aquatimer at that price or lower? And a general question, I can now spot the flaws on any Omega rep, but as a total noob to IWC watches I know nothing about the Aquatimers, could someone point out the easy tells than you can spot a fake by? Thanks a lot..
  23. If those inserts fit the Narikaa POs, and have closer to gen pearl, I believe that there will be a demand for them. I know I'll order it.
