I'm not sure I would want to do a strap where it wraps around the lug on this one. I think the proportions, while not typical of what's done today with watches of this size. It's one of the things that gives this piece its vintage vibe even though the face, being sterile, also gives it a minimalist modern feel too. I think one of the things I like about this watch is that it embraces both of these design ethics in equal measure.

Thanks! As I said, I've always liked strap with stitching and have only made a few without, but this combo seems a perfect match. I guess I should reconsider the no stitch strap.

Hi guys, here is my new DSN Big Egi that just came in the mail yesterday. I think it's real look and I'm happy as well that it's running very well. 52mms it's a size that while quite large for me is not clown like (as I'm sure the 60mm version would be) and it seems to wear smaller then my Mare Nostrum, although it's with Ziggmiester now getting a lume job, so I haven't done a side-by-side:). I decided to go with the sterile dial for a couple of reasons: 1. It runs the Swiss 6497, which I think wil be a lot more reliable that the A7750 with a hand wind only set up. I don't think the A7750 is really designed to be a hand wind only. 2. I really like the clean look of the sterile dial. It reminds me of the RWC Egi homage, which is a great watch, but at $1100 is to rich for me at the moment. 3. I really prefer the sapphire crystal. I know it's not "vintage", but I just don't really like plexi. Since this watch doesn't have the small seconds hand, the Nightwatch vintage dial mod is not possible, so this watch is not going the vintage route. If I decide to do a vintage Egi in the future, I'll go ahead and buy the other DSN Egi and have one of each. The watch arrived with a strap, which was awful, and so was put on an Extra D9 strap I have lying around with not home. Even though this strap was not designed for the Egi, I think it looks great. The no stitch strap really looks great with the minimalist sterile dial, so I think this is the combo I'll be happy with for a while. The watch also arrived the an extra solid case back, which I was not expecting and is a really nice bonus - Thanks Davidsen! Although I do like looking at the movement, so it'll stay with the glass for now I think. Last thing: the lume on this watch is incredible! It's among the very best I have and is comparable to the lume jobs done by Zig, Vac and Kent Parks!! It's nice to get a watch from the manufacturer that doesn't need a lume job:) So here are a stack of photos I took this morning (can you tell I'm really happy with this watch!!) : (shamless plug:))

I'd like to get in on this deal. I don't even have the watch ordered yet, but I'm sure I'll want a crystal that doesn't de-lam the minute it touches water. I'm waiting for the "ultimate" but they won't get around to fixing this prob until at least version 4, so if I don't get in now, I'll be in for a long wait if and when...

Hi all, I'm just really excited about how this one turned out for Simon founder of BR-avo.com gen Bell&Ross dedicated form. I had done a strap for his military in vintage tan and Olive that he liked a lot, but while he was watching the slide show of the build for that strap, he fell in love with the color of the natural leather and wanted to make him one for his BR03 Black&White Chrono. After I warned he that the strap will get darker with age and turn to a nice vintage tan in time, he was ever more convinced that he wanted one and gave me the go ahead. Of course untreated leather would just be a dirt and stain magnet, so before I stitched it up, I put a couple layers of satin sheen clear top coat and a heavy coat of water proofing in order to try to avoid water spots. He asked for the lightest natural vegetable tanned leather and black linen stitching - a bold combo as you can see (Simon's got a great sense of style). The leather I use was the highest quality vegetable tanned leather made. Its cream white, has no flaws or scarring and is soft as my baby daughter's bottom (sorry Amelie ). My supplier keeps these hides wrapped in heavy paper to keep them white, as light exposure will begin the natural darkening process. OK, as you know, if you read part eins a couple of weeks ago, I loaded up the wife and 2 year old daughter and headed for the coast for some family time in the surf and sand, with the very slight intention to taking some photos of the watch straps I've been working on for a website that I someday fancy I might have time to build, blah, blah, blah. Anyway I really liked the photos so much that I've been sharing them with the wonderful folks here (thank you for your patients, I know I'm no pro with a camera). All is well that end well, my daughter had a great time playing in the surf and destroying my every attempt at sandcastle building. Hi all you wonderful strap lovers out there! One of the great benefits of living in Southern California is the option to hit the beach once in a while. I don't take that opportunity often enough these days what with having wife, a 15 and a 2 year old living in 2 different cities (don't ask it's complicated:rolleyes: ) and working in a 3rd city... you get my point. Anyway, I convinced my wife to help me pack up the car and head for the coast with our 2 year old (Amelie) yesterday. Just to add one more thing onto my otherwise very busy schedule, most of you know I'm in the process of starting a watch strap making business. Long story short, I thought I would shoot some photos of some of my straps for a website I'm going to start building. Here's the thing, I love sharing my photos almost as much as making straps and I just couldn't keep these under raps for long, so I've decided to do a weekly feature of the photos I've been taking and to feature some photos of only one or two straps at a time. I've got a lot of Caiman skins, so as time permits, I'll be making straps of all sorts and some beefy like the one pictured and other not so. BR02 on Dangerous9 strap for the weekend :

All, I was going to give my last posting a little time to breath, but I just finished a new Caiman strap in cognac and as the only watch is have that's 24mm is my Revue Thommen diver, I thought I'd mount it up and see what if looks like on an actual watch. These photos turned so nice I couldn't resist sharing them. The Ironic thing is with all my watches and straps I don't even have a spare 24mm buckle laying around, so no buckle on these pics. Anyway I just resolved the buckle issue with a quick trip to eBay and one is the on the way. I think this watch has such a classic look, I have the stock rubber strap and and OEM SS bracelet, and I've have it on a black stingray and I've got to say, I just looks great on everything I've ever attached it to and so perfect to showcase my 2nd attempt in Caiman skin. This one was fun because my customer wanted me to build a duplicate of my personal BR02 strap with the exact color and markings, but slightly longer for his 7.5-7.75" wrist. I really love making these straps as there are so many technical challenges to get right and so many ways to go wrong from getting the exact shape and setting us the stamps for the "BR" and "&" just right and in this instance to getting the color to be and exact match. I hand mix my color, and apply many lightened layers of my brown dye, so I have more control over the final color in each individual strap, but as a result, it can be a real challenge to match 2 different straps done at different times. I'm glad I had my strap in hand, so I could compare them as I built up the color. Anyway, these are the projects that when they turn out right are a lot of fun and when the go wrong, I just want to pound my head on the table This one turn out pretty, good I think, so I had a good night! I just got this shippment of hornback Caiman skins in Back, Brown and Cognac. I also got a belly skin and glossy cognac. I made one strap that, quite frankly isn't up to snuff as you can see. I'll be getting better fast though, and I can't wait to really start cutting into them. Stay tuned for a whole lot of new straps in the coming days! in the meantime, here are some photos of the shippments.
