  1. Lani, you blew me away with the DSSD review and here I am again, lusting after another diver! Your reviews are too much!
  2. Post pics! I'd be interested in seeing how good the leather really is. I really hope it's not some cheap bonded or bi-cast leather...
  3. I just don't get why anyone would believe that the majority of parts are hand crafted when tooling and stamping is so much more efficient and cost effective. This is 2010 and not 1910 after all.
  4. This is why I don't feel there's a huge difference with a modded, serviced rep that's tooled somewhere in Asia. Soul is what you believe it to be and it need not be expensive.
  5. Gorgeous shots Ubi. Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate the effort you've gone to. Without the gen comparison macros, all I'd have is words. Cheers! M.
  6. Hi Ronin, As per our trusted dealer, yep, it's a V3. M.
  7. Thank you Ubi for all your posts today. You've been a huge help in understanding the variations in the dial. I really appreciate your insight and knowledge on this. Thank you for sharing! M.
  8. Thanks Lani, I've got this baby a reserved spot with The Zigmeister for lume, dial, hands, german day, eta date, taka crystal and movement servicing. Should be pretty rockin' once complete. I'm also debating a custom black with brown stitch hippo strap to go with the finished product. M.
  9. Thanks Ubi. I was having a tough time trying to figure out what the differences were between the V1 and V3 dial. If it's an issue of the markers and lume only, I can get those stripped and repainted and lumed. I was looking at the gen dial last night thinking the IWC font was off somehow (thinner font?) on the V3 vs the gen though I could be imagining things. M.
  10. Hi Ubi, I completely agree that this is a great platform and will mod very nicely. I just don't think it's mentioned enough the small details that one may expect to be there may or may not be absent. Like you said, it's luck of the draw. I look forward to this project though and will be sure to post photos and a full review once it's dressed and ready for the ball. M.
  11. Those are some very nice straps you have there. I like the aging of the leather and attention to detail you've put into these. All the best! M.
  12. Hey Folks, I just received a cartel IWC 3717 and even though I expected to make a few modifications, I have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed with the overall quality. Given the crystal needs to be swapped, the day and date wheels have to go, the following are other issues I've found with this watch: 1. I found the lume is pretty bad, both in application and in overall quality 2. The crown doesn't seem to screw in evenly each time, has a gritty feel to it 3. The chrono pushers are very sticky and don't feel anything close to what a gen would (this will have to be addressed with servicing) 4. The bracelet feels pretty cheap, not nearly as detailed as the gen, not very shiny, the clasp is terrible and flimsy, the locking mechanism is a bit of a joke, the IWC engraving is terrible on the clasp, very sharp edges. 5. The dial markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 are all uneven (will have to be fixed) So, to make this look great I will have to toss the bracelet for a quality strap, swap the crystal, datewheel, get the hands stripped, repainted and lumed, get the dial redone and lumed, and get the movement serviced. In summary, I suppose my point is that this is NOT as good of a rep "out of the box" as many other reps. M. Oh, one other quick note. I inquired about a V1 faceplate after looking at the 3717 closely and was told to bugger-off, that the V3 was the best out there and was all that was available.
  13. Rolex DSSD. I have gotten soooooo many compliments on this watch, it's starting to get ridiculous.
  14. I don't know of anyone who has bought the super deluxe version and has posted a review on this board. The search doesn't turn up anything about the super extreme version either.
  15. Quick question though I know a few members own various versions of this watch. How are the chrono pushers? Are they butter smooth or finicky and hard to push?
  16. Well a gen ETA 7750 new in a sealed package is around $400, though since it is a larger watch, perhaps they are installing an ETA Valgranes A07.211 (gen) which may be harder to source or higher cost and they just have it labelled as an ETA 7750?
  17. Problem I can see is you'll be itching to upgrade the phone after a year...
  18. Great, thank you for your insight. I was nervous about the reliability of the Asian 7750 after seeing post after post on this board with members "swapping" for an ETA. I can now rest assured the reasoning is as per the individual preference and not born out of necessity. Cheers! M.
  19. Hi Tom, If I have the option to source a V1 dial from Josh for my V3 IWC, how much of a difference would there be? Is it worth the wait and effort in your opinion? Is it a matter of how sharp the text is, the markers? Thanks! M.
  20. Not to take this too off-topic though $200+ to service an asian 7750 or $400 for a new ETA 7750. Considering the date wheel (approx $30 shipped for a day + date from cousins.uk) you still have to swap the asian 7750 for the ETA which isn't free unless you do it yourself. You're still over by around $150 or so by going the ETA route and all things considered, you get the same functionality from a serviced asian 7750 as you get with a new sealed package ETA 7750. My question I suppose, is that spending an additional $150+ for the ETA 7750 really worth it? You'd have to get either movement serviced regularly going forward and either future service would be equal in price. Am I missing anything? Thanks, M.
  21. Hi Folks, If anyone wants to claim mine, I won't have a project ready to use this movement for some time, you're welcome to it.
  22. Wow, that's um....wow. A for effort and everything but man, what a waste of empty space and they yellow(ish) on dark grey colour. Wow.
  23. Get well soon Sixx, my thoughts are with you....
  24. Hmm, even if they had faux screws, drill holes in the caseback and glue and seal the faux screws in. I suppose repping these 100% isn't at the top of the list as it's a caseback etc.
  25. I was under the impression that a serviced Asian 7750 is just as reliable as a serviced ETA 7750. If the watch ships with an Asian 7750, why not just get that serviced? Would that not be cheaper and simpler overall? I'm asking because I have a 3717 arriving in the next few days. Is it a piece of mind thing knowing there is a swiss ETA 7750 inside? M.
