  1. Not sure how you can tell the difference, yes it is.
  2. I am aware of the gear stripping issue but a little hand winding shouldn't kill a watch.
  3. I have two A7750 and winding them... they do not feel nearly as smooth as a gen ETA 7750, it almost sounds like I'm breaking it. Of course, I know nothing about how well made a movement is. I think the biggest risk is you don't know if you're getting a good A7750 vs a poorly built older one. There just seems to be a much bigger variance on quality as opposed to a newly built gen ETA 7750 which seem to be more consistent in quality.
  4. Just do a search for WM9v2 or hit the sticky review in the rolex forum.. UPO doesn't seem very ultimate to me because of all the flaws. By the time you replace all the flawed parts for gen parts, might as well just bought a used gen.
  5. Most compliments I get on a watch is from girls on my bright orange gen Planet Ocean. About half the time they've heard of Omega, half the time they haven't. If she's cute, I take it off and let her try it on.
  6. You can usually find gen ETA 7750 here or in various forums in the $300-$400 range. Gen IWC movements are going $600-800 here. Now that, is a steal for a IWC made movement. Asian 7750 seems to be $125-$150
  7. I'd be curious to see if a $500 Seiko has a better finish and initial quality than say a WM9 V2 watch or a DSSD V5. In terms of robustness, a WM9V2 is 300m rated (has anyone tested one that far?), uses a gen ETA, and it feels extremely high quality. It compares to my $2000-$3000 gens in terms of "feel" and eye examining the watch.
  8. Just run it till it dies then put a swiss movement if you're really convinced then it's permanent. Don't know how many times I've said "This is forever" about a watch and then end up selling it a few weeks later for the next one.
  9. Will a gen dial fit a V3 case? Any place I can buy a V1 dial or any dial version?
  10. Ordered mine on July 3rd... still waiting.
  11. We all know about the running seconds at 6 problem even with the supposedly "new" "29j" movement. I was thinking about perhaps picking one up anyway and just let it die when it needs to die. Then I was thinking, replace movement with either a gen 7750 or serviced normal Asian 7750. The idea is, freeze the seconds at 6 and just use the chrono seconds hand as my faux seconds hand. Will running a seconds hand all the time on a gen 7750 or serviced 7750 kill the life of the movement or require much more frequent servicing? I read in gen Omegas, power reserve drain from running the chrono is actually pretty minimal in the less than 10% range.
  12. My WM9 came in and it's stunning. What are the differences between the WM9 and the watch that's being considered in this thread?
  13. Why is a V1 better than V3?
  14. Did a search and read some of it. It seems the JO is the better bezel and WM has the pearl like you said. How hard is the pearl to remove? I'm thinking of just reusing the pearl that comes with the WM9. Ordered the bezel from JO just now.
  15. Dial varnishing is also something people seem to talk about but I haven't seen a how to or if Vac or The Zigmeister can get it done.
  16. Awesome thanks. For an M-Serial WM9, which should I be ordering? http://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?idProduct=1188 or http://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?idProduct=1187 Also found on ebay, could it be the same source? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=350213668761
  17. IIRC, the V1 lacks the Superlumninova and has a worse crystal as well as not as nice a crown as the V2? What else?
  18. Anyone remember the site selling the bezels?
  19. Yeah, I know it won't be accurate but I was wondering if replacing the black bezel with a green LV bezel would be a direct drop in fit? I remember seeing it available for $30 or so, anyone remember the link? Recommended ways on popping the bezel off?
  20. Good point. It's just my understand that 2892 is the best ETA makes outside of custom runs of things like the Omega 1120 or 2500c. I think it's supposed to be theoretically more reliable, robust, and shock tolerant than the 2824. But I'm curious if this is actually the case and if maybe a top grade 2824 is just as good.
  21. "We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and the oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
  22. Just curious but are these two movements compatible in most watches? That is, if a case is designed to take a 2824, can it also take a 2892 or would it be a case by case (pun intended) basis? Also, what are the main advantages of a 2892 over a higher grade 2824 besides dimensions?
  23. I'd like a PM as well on pricing.
  24. What is sub standard about the v5? I thought the reviews said it was the best one.
  25. Just ordered one with Swiss ETA and EMS shipping... $418.. pricey for a rep but hopefully the best for a while. Thinking about getting it DLC'd and superlumed by avitt if he replies to my PMs. Ultimate (rep) divers watch!
