Well, the watch turned up 5mins after I posted and just in time for the weekend. The crown guard is tight and the PVD very evenly applied to all components. Winding it is pain, the crown guard really gets in the way (I dont have particulary big finger either!!) The pics below show what Jackson supplied and how it looks after a simple strap change. Looks very Darth Vader already! Lume on the hands is better than I expected, I will test tonight and make a judgement if re-lume is required. The lume on the numbers in non-existant. Therefore luming numbers (and maybe hands) tomorrow night. MD edit: I had another look on the Jacksontse website and it seems the minifiddy case has a smaller crown than normal (CG look crooked too). Might have to get another better PVD case for the better crown and CG.

I too have a stealth project on the go. From Jackson, I bought a 44mm PVD case, dome crystal and sterile face. Numbers will be filled with grey lume and black hands blue lumed (white appearance in daylight). Strap wise, I will use a cheap black rubber strap with PVD buckle until i get a get better idea. Fantastic, I am so jealous. I so agree with your choice of strap. You have pushed my a little closer to getting a Ti PAM.

Hi, I was luming a rep PAM 210 for a friend and had a mishap involving acetone ("how embarrassment") and now need a replacement dial. As we all know DSN dosen't accept PP or CC, so I prefer not to use him. Can anyone tell me an alternative source for BRANDED dials? MD

The finer the lume grain the smoother the finish, however the finer grain the duller the lume. Apparently lume mixture should be like snot to get a good finish. Have a look at the RP and RWI guides, there is a whole afternoon/evening of lume reading there.

Great setup. The thickness of the strap is just right. I reckon you have just motivated me to get one. MD

+1 for oiler I practiced by luming letters on magazines. Lots of different shapes and sizes there. MD

Over the last couple of weeks I have been "learning lume". Tools and materials cost <$100. Lume is ver very cheap, like $30 for 100gm!! It aint easy coz you have to experiment with composition of the lume paint, stripping old lume, application tools and techniques and disassembling watches etc. This CAN be all good fun (is for me). However if you are only interested in the final product then by far it is best to get it done by a pro. My 2c MD

My first rep was a 183. They are good to pull apart for some experimental noob mods and, the parts are cheap and easy to find. Have fun. MD

RepGeek and RWI have really good Stickies in the Panerai area explaining the models and the history. I learnt a lot there.

Oris diver was my first expensive watch. Great watch that saw plenty of good times, bad times and trips around the world. I only replaced it went the bracelet broke during an incident and the case hit the deck! Hope you have fun.

+1 for bike shoes and good saddle. I am a long time cyclist (and the occasional race) with 5 bikes in the garage, ranging from freebie taiwanese(fixie) to custom Ti. they all have good pedals (look keo) and saddles, to the point where the pedals are worth mre than the bike on the cheapo fixie! It is important get your bike interface points (saddle/shorts, pedals and bars)dialled it. The rest will look after itself.
