  1. I pushed the "Fraud" button on Gumtree yesterday but nothing much has happened. I hope some poor bugger dosen't buy it. PeteM, I'll raise you to a $4.55 bid
  2. CG pin looks wrong to me. http://nsw.gumtree.com.au/c-Stuff-for-Sale-jewellery-watches-PANERAI-LUMINOR-Marina-44mm-WHITE-W0QQAdIdZ259203218#
  3. M, I didn't buy any duty free going into KL. Dunno about grog but, I exepect cigs will be very cheap in KL. As I said, if you know your stuff you will find something good. There is plenty of inaccurate reps in between the good ones. Remember most of the shops are group owned where an owner has 2or3or4 shops under his/her control. The G-Shock cost AUD3. Had to have it for cycling and running.
  4. I went to KL about a month ago and brought 8 reps back into Oz without problems. Going into Malaysia will not be a problem because customs is very informal (similar to singapore). The reps were bought in China town and they where definately cheaper than the online dealers. The bonus was that I was able to inspect each watch before handing over the cash and see all the different makes and models. In China town the good stuff is kept in cases and not all of it is good, so you have to know your stuff. Also the dealers are reluctant for you to troll thru all their stock (it will take hours) unless you are a genuine buyer, so you need to establish a repore. MD PS Take AUD cash with you and exchange there. YOu will save about 10% on the change. I think you can take AUD10k without issue.
  5. I have a DSN 210 dial and the numerals don't seem to right along the outer circumference (as per gen). The cartel dials are better in this respect. Judge for youself.
  6. Very nice. Thanks for letting us see something from Polo. MD
  7. Of course the dealers are crooks! That's how this hobby exists.
  8. I agree with the advice concerning not linking PP to your regular bank account. PP were encouraging/nagging me to do this but when I read the fine print, they are actually asking for authorization to debit at PP's discretion, NO WAY!
  9. Fantastic article! In my profession, certification of materials is a big deal. Thus I was alway REALLY wondering what the PMI/Spark test would yield for so called 316 watches. Well done!!
  10. Cool, I have never seen one of those before. I want one too!
  11. Out the front of the Thai Embassy. I reckon Singapore would be a good place to be pick up a used gen because the fashion concious types have to do something with their old watches when they tradeup.
  12. Last week some bloke with a a brief case tried to sell me a watch at 22:00 on Orchard Road. (I didn't even bother to stop)
  13. Search the forum and you will find the answer.
  14. FYI Apparently the holidays last 1-2weeks. Therefore expect email and shipping responses to be slow. MD
  15. It holiday season in China. If you are ordering then expect a few delays.
  16. You could get the jackson watch then DSN dial and case back. MD
  17. Jackson tells me has them. I ordered a similar Ti watch and extra strap but with brushed SS buckle. Reckon i will see the results before ordering a Ti buckle.
  18. Love your work. The dark grey lume looks great. I relumed mine with light grey but am going to follow you example and go darker. My PVD minifiddy is on a rubber strap, I recommend this combination. The rubber straps are only $10 from Jackson. MD
  19. I got a Ti auto and additional strap on order. Will post the results when they get it. MD
  20. I picked up the recipe for grey lume from repgeek, you are correct, graphite powder is the magic ingredient. In this instance I used graphite lube powder (from hardware store) and Glow int. V10 green. It final product is a dirty grey (see pic) and glows all night at 66%. I like the dirty grey because the texture matches the strap. Possible improvements involve getting the lume darker, more graphite is ok but I reckon blacker graphite (carbon?) is the way forward. I like you PVD movement and will be getting one for my next project. I am not good at photos so these are the only good images I can get. Enjoy. MD
  21. Finished product looks like below, pretty good for a nights work at the kitchen bench. The specs are (prepare for plenty of "black"): Black PVD minifiddy case and PVD buckle Black Sterile dial Black hands including seconds hand Black rubber strap Flip CG to hide text Grey lume. Filled the numbers from behind because its way easy and gives good results. Under consideration: Dark grey lume (worried it might be too hard to read at night). Maybe do only the numbers. Better strap Hope you like it. MD
