  1. Aphex Twin isn't quite as freaky looking...
  2. For the right project, the dial, tachy ring and hands could be very useful. Say, for a project using the right DD module
  3. When I was in my early 20's, I got a tattoo. Looking back, I wish I hadn't...
  4. Cyclops can be popped off...
  5. I wear all mine fairly snug. Just personal pref... Bracelet: Leather: G10:
  6. Rolex works with Mercedes or Audi...
  7. I've gone through 10 or so in a day.
  8. If you plan on keeping the watch, modding would probably be fine. However, if you plan on getting the watch simply for testing purposes, I would advise against as it may be cost prohibitive; you may end up spending more than you can resell for, especially once the WM9 hits the market.
  9. I spoke with Lani on the phone today. He is slowly recovering. He's in pretty rough shape and is in the ICU (has been for the past few days). Talking with him was painful, cause he just isn't 100% I'm sorry I didn't share this with everyone sooner, but out of respect to his privacy I kept it quiet until I had his okay. I'm not going to go into the specifics, but I will say that he's having a rough time of it. He did ask me to give everyone his best regards today, and he is resting with good care. For all that know Lani, he is a tough bugger. I am sure that he will recover with time, but for now, please include him in your thoughts and prayers. Godspeed my friend.
  10. Thanks, gang! I have to say; I have not been this excited about a watch in a while! I just can't stop looking at it... Chief's AR is simply incredible. I am curious, however as to how other members care for their AR coating. Do I need microfiber towels for wiping the crystal? Since I've been primarily into Rolex watches that have no AR, I'm not sure if certain precautions need to be made to preserve the integrity of the coating My only other experience has been the faux or lite AR, which simply doesn't compare... I'm very thankful that we have such talented members on the forum... Folks like Chief and ZZ that take ordinary reps to the next level and beyond...
  11. Be sure to get the right hands for the 45mm in that case; there is a difference: 42mm- Minute: 13.60mm 45mm- Minute: 14.85mm 42mm- Seconds: 13.85mm 45mm- Seconds: 15.00mm
  12. Nice! Pricing looks to be inline with Frei as well...
  13. A few months back, I put up my beloved modified WM9 16610 for trade, to which I struck a fantastic deal with a fellow forum member to exchange his V1 EL100 3717 for my Sub. I had no idea how great the 3717 Flieger was until I finally got my hands on it- I really didn't know what I was missing until I saw it with my own eyes Here's how this beauty looked upon arrival: Well, it wasn't long before my fidgety side got the better of me, and I hadn't had the watch but a day before I tore into it to swap date wheels. A decision I would soon regret. In my rush to get this mod done, I ended up fudging up the keyless works. In an oversight, I had forgotten the golden rule with 7750's; always release in the winding position! Feeling gutted and digusted with myself, I packed the parts away and figured a good night's sleep was needed before figuring out what to do from that point. The next day, I had vented my frustrations to two very good pals of mine- kruzer00 and lanikai. Both had stepped forward, without hesitation and offered me a grand solution that helped kick start my project into high gear- A Swiss 7750 and a chief AR'd crystal. This was my lucky day. In the matter of a few hours, I had a plan set before me, and the next thing to do was to coordinate the work. Having had bad luck with the movement, and considering that I had some other items I wanted addressed anyways, I scheduled some time for my watch to visit the official Canadian spa for a make over. The work to be done: -Install Swiss 7750 -Exchange white day/date wheels with black -Modify hands to fit Swiss movement -Install AR'd crystal -Relume dial and hands A few weeks had passed, and to my delight, I had a parcel in the mailbox today Here's what my reborn Flieger looks like now: On an HKTan: And on bracelet: The differences in pics may appear subtle, but I can assure that the transformation is amazing in person. My wife was just marvelling over how the crystal has completely vanished thanks to the AR! Huge thanks to 3 extraordinary gentlemen- W, R and RG. You guys have made me a very, VERY happy Ubi! No better way to kick off the weekend! Thanks for looking, R
  14. Yeah... The ETA based Rolex pieces have a date overlay anyways to reposition the date. You can use a gen datewheel in it's place; essentially just glues right onto the ETA wheel.
  15. I'll be calling him shortly to check on him.
  16. The gen has a beautiful movement... Absolutely worthy of the display back. I'd wear it case back side up if I had one...
  17. Hmmm... All I really have at the moment is a vintage 6152/3646 MM brass rmcsherry dial. Sounds like you've already got one on offer...
  18. Seems like it shouldn't be difficult to achieve.
  19. Now the waiting game begins. Luckily, most everything I wanted was in stock. Just a matter of being patient until it all arrives...
  20. Very true. A DSN will provide instant gratification, and at a significant savings over building. Plus, you can always use the DSN as a basis to upgrade with different parts over time as you accumulate. Kind of depends on what your overall objective is...
