Thank goodness everything's in check! An impact like that... Well... Let me just say, Mrs. Ubi's ceramic watch didn't come out quite as well after she managed to inflict some damage of her own...
Another example...
Here's the pic I'd start with (except this one is resized from 3456x2304 to 800x533 to fit the posting better).
And here's the cropped pic...
Essentially, start with the 3456x2304 pic, and rather than resize, simply outline the section that you want to zoom in on with the resolution desired (in my case, 800x533). Crop it, and the zoomed in macro is what you get as a result
Thinking about it... I should have maybe picked up the dial with the orange markers instead. Then I could have picked up a second bezel in orange and just swap the bezels back and forth. Instant model change without having to buy a second watch.
Thanks, buddy. I forget- Which do you have? The uPO?
Looks great! I'm glad that this solution is working for others as it provides a nice, low cost method for improving the pearl
If anyone is interested, I have some old WM9 markers for folks who want to try this...
B-
I use some freebie freeware app called Faststone Image Viewer. I utilize the application mostly to resize images, but it does have a crop tool as well. If you have something more sophisticated like Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, etc. you will certainly be able to crop down pics like this.
Here are some of my uncropped pics...
Lots of vignetting and shallow DoF on these as I used the reversed SLR lens method to grab some macros. But it provides a good example of what I started with
Want some macro shots of specific details of your watch?
Start with a larger resolution image (I tend to start with 3456x2304) and just crop away at the usual size that you would typically resize your larger images to...
Not close enough?
Closer...
I'm sure this isn't anything new to some of you, but I've had a few PMs asking how some of the closer shots are achieved. This is a good method without having to resort to using specialty equipment
Hope this helps...

southcoast-
The crown is holding steady for now. It's not a great crown/tube set up (as the rep parts are not phenominal), but for now it will do As soon as it gives up, I'll be swapping out to gen.
vly-
Projects come and go... We'll see how long this one lasts in the watchbox... So far, so good, but one can never say for sure...
I ended up resorting to have to build my own, since there aren't any decent reps. So...
1) El Primero 16520 Daytona case
2) El Primero 400 movement
3) Gen dial
4) Gen hands
5) Gen bezel
6) Gen crown and tube
Etc. etc...
Fun projects, but not cheap...
Jim- The bezel is the icing on the cake. If you've got everything else done, the bezel will finish it off.
ironmarshal- Hit up the usual 3 supply houses if you're in the U.S. If you're in the U.K. give cousins a try.
Cheers,

Any chance you can obtain a pic of your watch's datewheel from vac? That will determine whether this mod will be worthwhile or not...
May turn out that you don't need to do it On mine, the datewheel that came with the watch was terrible, so it was a must do.
