  1. So, for the ideal SA... Combine the best of the best between V2 and V3? That's what I'd do...
  2. Glad to know it's not just me noticing this change in etiquette. I suppose that this can be attributed to generational or cultural differences; still, seems like those magic words should be fairly universal. I could be wrong, however.... This will certainly not impact the way I conduct myself- If I have the opportunity to help others with parts, items or advice, I'd me more than happy to do so. However, for the individuals that have already demonstrated a lack in proper mannerisms, they may find that getting a hold of me may be a little more difficult...
  3. Just a personal observation and looking for a general opinion from the forum- Are 'please' and 'thank you' so difficult to even type these days? Maybe even a truncated 3 letter variation of 'thx' or 'pls'? An interesting phenomenon- Seems as though even the most basic of formalities are either a forgotten art, or people are just too lazy to extend this gesture. Maybe a frontal lobotomy has taken place...? That could explain it... When I give parts or items away to folks that say they need them and I cover shipping, I don't expect a penny in return. But maybe a 'thanks' would be nice. Also kind of irritating when I offer to give someone parts and the recipient is aggressively on my case about not shipping it out in time or by a particular date. Relax. You'll get your free part sooner or later (but if you keep hounding me about it, it could be more like later, and not sooner... And I mean later later... As in- maybe not in this lifetime). Maybe I'm just sensitive /rant *sigh*
  4. I do miss this one But I know it's in good hands!
  5. That one is all wrong. I observe: -Bad bezel -Wrong 6/9 on the dial (they're only partially open, with the majority closed. Compare to mine above) -Bad dial font -Incorrect Omega logo -Stubbies -Incorrect hands -Case does not look too good Only upside is that it has a gen 552 movement inside. This is one of those Vietnam examples...
  6. I had contemplated the idea of restoring my vintage SM300 at one time, but have come to enjoy the watch as-is; heavy patina, bezel cracks and all. While I wouldn't mind having a minty fresh example, I think the character of this one puts it in a completely different league. I would love to know the things it's seen in it's time, or where it's been, what it's experienced. I feel almost ashamed that it spends most of it's time confined in my watch box. I'm not in any huge rush to have the AR or crown/tube done for some reason. I've been enjoying it on the wrist, and though I know these two upgrades will only enhance the watch and my enjoyment further, I want to live with it incomplete for now; the changes made to date have been kind of a blur, and I don't think I've fully appreciated the mods in the same manner as if they were done slowly, and over time. I'll likely just wait until I've grown tired of the watch, and partake in those changes then. It will give me something further to look forward to
  7. The crown will be taken care of eventually... AR as well. That is... If I decide to keep it for the long term
  8. Not on a mesh band, but I do have a gen... Great watch; all original example with some wabi. Easily one of my favorite purchases (local deal, so I got to inspect prior to buying; not bad for $600).
  9. Hmmmm. I don't think the small clous dial is available any longer. Maybe hit up Eurotimez or Narikaa. Or post a WTB and keep a close eye on the trading forum...
  10. Just visit Nah Piek at MBK Which RO Chrono? The old ROO with the 2892/DD movement (seconds @ 12:00)?
  11. Looking GREAT! Nice one, F333!
  12. Fri- Fri- FGD jimmyfzu Pre-A PAM002: Sat- 42mm Planet Ocean franken: Sun- Modded 3717:
  13. Well done, TMG! Very nice Personally, I think the hands work well... The more important opinion, however is that of Mrs. TMG. What does she think of the hands?
  14. Couldn't agree more... The gen bezel just looks and feels perfect. The insert and pearl are a nice bonus as well
  15. Well, the first thing you should do is figure out what size you actually wear. The thing with a lot of these brands is that the size on the tag does not necesarily reflect the actual size of the pair of jeans (i.e. they do not run true to size), so it's important to go off of actual measurement rather than tag size. As an example, I wear a size 29 in most jeans; in Diesel I wear a size 27 - 28 for Pre-2006 washes, and a 26 - 27 in post 2006 washes. The reality of it all is that my actual fit is a waist that measures 14.5" across; as such, that's part of my criteria for finding the right fit for me. There are other factors to take into consideration as well- Hip, thigh and knee measurement will also play a big role in determining the right fit. If you have a slim waist, but large thighs, some cuts will not work as well as others, so it's a good idea to figure out what your measurements are. This guide is a good place to start: How to measure jeans. Having those measurements will help you considerably if buying jeans online. Most sellers will provide this information either as default, or if asked. Once you have your measurements figured out, you'll be able to find a brand and cut of denim that should work for you; at that point, you can then figure out what color/wash you want based on what's available for that cut. The process is a lot of trial and error depending on what kind of fit you want. Looser, baggier fit is easier to figure out; a more fitted, tailored look may be a bit more difficult to achieve.
  16. I only have two pics- I don't usually take lume shots, but figured they'd be fun. Planet Ocean franken (gen SL bezel/pearl, dial and hands): (shutter speed 8sec) Pre-A PAM002 (FGD dial with Tritec SL): (shutter speed 10sec) I know the slower shutted speed is cheating, but I don't know any other way If you have some lume pics, please post away!
  17. Regarding True Religion- I would advise against as they tend to have unusual cut and fit for men. I've tried them, and they just never fit me right. If you are really set on a pair, be sure to try them on first. YMMV They do fit great on women, however.
  18. Also keep in mind that the Swiss ETAs that find their way into rep watches are oft times old surpluss. There's no real way to determine where the movement came from, how long since it's been serviced (if at all), or what it's history is. Chances are, a Swiss ETA rep may require service sooner than later as well. There's just no way to guarantee...
  19. I like your style. Glad to have another denim-head on the forum
