The Omega logo on the dial is step 3 or 4 on my agenda...
-
I've got at least 3 or 4 steps to go... All spread out, but soon to come...

Since I decided to keep my newest 4th gen PO, I figured I would turn it into a test bed for mods. The first, and biggest flaw on this watch (in my eyes) was not only the bezel insert/pearl, but the bezel itself. I decided to start with this particular item as if my proposed solution was a flop, there would be no sense for me in moving forward any further; it was the show stopper. So, I took a small risk and ventured forth with some gen parts: I contemplated maybe not opening the small blister pack, but decided to press forth anyways... Nice pearl! Old rep bezel: Comparing the gen bezel and insert with rep bezel and my modified pearl: Case sans bezel: THICK crystal: And with a tiny bit of effort, it's on: Nice, precision cut teeth: And the next step to follow? More to come... Cheers, R

Have you tried Ken? He might be able to source it...

A gorgeous beauty. Very nice addition to the collection, and an absolute keeper!

I think $550 is about right for a newer 93150; for a quick sale, I'm sure $450 would move it fast, but honestly, I would keep it with the watch that it was originally fitted to. I think getting a replacement form Rolex would run quite a bit more these days...

Hmmm... $450 for a 93150 with 501's seems kind of low...

Heh... Good news for you, Laz I myself recently had to deal with a Paypal issue- Purchased some Diesel jeans I had been after for a while back in May; seller popped up with the exact pair I wanted and we did the transaction outside of eBay (first mistake). I PP'd and thereafter, communication with the seller went downhill. After 33 days of waiting, I finally opened the dispute as the seller was no longer responsive; well, the seller never acknowledged the dispute, so Paypal ended up closing the claim in my favor. Unfortunately, there was no money in their account and so nothing was refunded. I feel like kicking someone in the teeth But, I am glad to hear that at least some instances turn out alright. For me... I just have to take it on the chin and chalk it up to a learning experience. In a decade's worth of numerous online transactions and the sort, this was my first major issue. So, I guess in that sense, it's not so bad. I just hope karma gets this guy in the end. Oh well... Live and learn...

Mine was a high beat. But confirmed as an original EL100...
-
I had the following done on my V1 EL100: -Swiss 7750 swap -Hands retrofitted -ETA day/date wheels -Dial/hands relumed -Chief AR crystal Waiting for it to come back home
-
Zig may have gone over the process, but to do it right, it helps to have the correct tools to do the job (which he has). Usually, I enjoy doing mod work myself, but I found that the 7750 and I don't mix very well. Also... After seeing the hands removed and the size of their pins, I knew right then that this was something I shouldn't be mucking with. Besides... A relume and AR crystal were just begging to go on, so I sent mine out for the work. Much easier in this case, and I hedged the risk of having a paperweight sitting on my desk

Hmmmm... Usually, on an old school MBW 1680 build (5513 signed case) using a gen 127, I've had to widen the retaining ring a bit to fit over the crystal; still with enough tension to require pressing the ring on at the base and to retain water tight resistance, but with enough material removed where I wasn't risking a cracked crystal. For 5513 builds (same style/generation case) using a gen 19, it's been hit or miss. Sometimes, it would require a bit of trimming... Sometimes, they fit perfect. I haven't tried with the newer style cases though. For my 9411, the gen 125 fit perfect. No trimming needed and the crystal snapped on nicely- Just enough effort required. 1665's have been the one constant where the ring is usually fit decent; there were however, unique circumstances where the ring was almost too large at the I.D. and didn't provide enough tension My experience is that it is sometimes inconsistent, especially when you factor in non-gen parts as replacements. No knock on Gary's products; he offers good stuff, but sometimes there's just enough differences in tolerances between an aftermarket part and a rep case to keep one on their toes.

I'm not sure what to think of that...

Gen dial will fit the 7750; since the 79320 is 7750 based, it shouldn't be a problem. Swapping hands and movements should be straight forward if you have the old school slow beat A7750; new high beat A7750 based reps will require reducing and broaching hands to fit a Swiss 7750 or 79320.

What do you do if someone compliments you on your watch?
ubiquitous replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
If someone compliments me on my watch I usually reply with the secret codeword 'Jetmid' and go for the double secret RWG handshake. If they look puzzled as a result of my actions, I usually flip them the bird and kick dirt on their shoes. Not really. I usually just say thanks and move on... -
I'm going to try calling him this afternoon to check on him. I'll let you all know how he's doing...

That's a special one-off from Q.

Good example of why heavy drug use during pregnancy is not a good thing. -
Hmmmm... Gotta be careful with gen dials going into reps. Not all rep cases are the same; some may have too small of a rehaut (diameter), some may require the dial to be trimmed down, or worse, some may have the rehaut too large in diameter, with the dial just falling through to the crystal since there's no lip for the dial to seat against. Kind difficult to say if it will be a straight forward swap until you actually get in there to test fit. Same goes for the crown- Some gen crowns will work with the rep tube, some may not. Since we're talking 6mm gents, there are two different types of gen tubes used- One is a larger tube for the 6mm and one is the same size tube as used with the 5.3mm crown. Always best to just match tube with crown and install accordingly.

Chief- Your payment and ticket are I believe confirmed. Let me look into it further however. Can you PM me your specifics? -
Pretty amazing figures...

More info here... 3717 markers and lume. Hope this helps! R
-
Looks V3 to me... Based on the lume shot, the markers look like they're floating; I believe the V3 has a clear plastic section on the lumed markers that are glued to the dial.

Gen Rolex date disc, installed in a WM9 Yachtmaster
ubiquitous replied to Mickey Padge's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
As Sander mentioned, the gen datewheel is a bit thicker; reducing the height of the ETA datewheel will be necessary to provide enough clearance under the dial to rotate freely.
