  1. Thanks for the replies. frankt - Thanks for bringing that up. Thats something that never crossed my mind & is going to make this an interesting search. Perhaps it might be easier for me to do the same sort of thing and see if watchco still has any 300 parts left. robertk - thats quite the looker you have there. retep - I frequent that website quite a bit, but have yet to purchase anything. I was never quite sure how legitiment it was. Have you purchased anything from Andy the timeman?
  2. I believe that your watch is a chronograph and the large "seconds" hand only runs when it is in use. edit. Hahaha. We all posted the same thing.
  3. My question is pretty much as the title states. I've been looking into getting a gen Vintage Seamaster 300 and as part of my process, I like to research the avaliable reps to help me make an informed decision. I've found a rep vs gen guide on scubawatch.org, but was curious if any better quality reps were avaliable. I've seen a few 300s where the numbers on the bezel insert don't match any of the reps in the guide nor any of the photographs of gens. I searched on several dealer sites and did not find anything and the only mention on this forum is of gens a few people bought. This is in contrast to what I hear on timezone and watchuseek where they make it sound like there are quite a few reps floating around.
  4. They both look great. I believe the movie is Princess Mononoke.
  5. I can't wait. the money is burning a hole in my pocket.
  6. Sounds like a great deal for a great rep. I'd like to be in for one.
  7. Nice looking watches. This is great comparison as I've started looking to buy a gen Moon Watch & would rather not buy a thousand dollar rep. Thanks for the pics.
  8. A variety of methods are discussed on this page. It is specifically for a submariner, but I am sure it would apply to this watch as well. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...5&hl=insert There also is a guide by By-tor which goes into seamaster modding and a step by step pictorial to removing and reinstalling the bezel. I believe it is one of the links in his signature.
  9. Very nice. I will have to get myself one of these. I think the biggest tell is that the bezel insert is off by about 10 degrees to the bezel. If I remember correctly, the taller markers/numbers should line up not with the scalloped portions of the bezel, but the flat sections.
  10. Nice watch. I envy you(I was secretly hoping to get one of those, but I guess it was not meant to be).
  11. I was so excited about recieving my Davidsen 195 in the mail today, I thought I might take a few quick photographs. I was too lazy about taking the wide angle lens off the camera so you're going to have to bear through "fish-eye" hell. I was hoping a watch I ordered from Andrew last week would also arrive since I ordered them the same day. Enough complaining from me. Hope you enjoy these. 30 second exposure in the dark
  12. Is that how much they are going for these days?! Crazy.
  13. I contacted him earlier today and was notified that it was sold.
  14. Sounds like you've had some good times on the track. I've been running a slightly modified honda s2000 this year. Thank god for point restrictions, otherwise I would have sunk even more money into it. The high point was driving at laguna seca. It was one of those "I've seen this on television & in video games," moments.
  15. Great news! I can't wait to hear what else is in store.
  16. That looks like it was a blast. Have you been out to the track before? Its probably as addictive as collecting watches but not as kind to the pocketbook.
  17. I have an odd feeling about that second one. I exchanged some emails with him and the signatures in his emails indicate that he works at a plastics fabrication and manufacture company. I am unsure of how to tell visually if they are the real thing, but this guy seems to have quite a few of these crystals and possibly the means to create them. I wish I could tell for sure as I would love to have a gen T-39 superdome.
  18. Thanks ubiquitous. Looks like you're going to save a few people some money. Out of curiosity, how would you be able to determine if it was a gen if there was no pearl as in the following picture?
  19. I've been staring at this for at least an hour and switching back to looking at the inserts on reps and on http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/dr_dials.htm I can't tell for the life of me if its gen or not. I'm sure all of you have a better eye for this thing than I do. Care to help a guy out?
  20. That address comes up as these two businesses. http://mrsjonesmedia.tripod.com/contact.html http://www.losangelescountybusinesses.com/...le&id=24303 I would try contacting both the seller and ebay first to see what can be done. Was the package insured?
  21. I found this site by accident a few months back and learned a lot before purchasing a Planet Ocean and a Submariner from Andrew two weeks ago. After a few weeks of alternating between the two I realize that two watches just isn't enough and I need to feed the addiction. I'm hoping to add to my collection as well as learn more about modding my watches. I was very inspired by Ubiquitous' 16520 Daytona project and would like to go down the same path. I wasn't able to find an answer on the forum, but how does one go about sourcing gen parts?
