  1. That's a fine looking watch. Nice work!
  2. After seeing all of the nice work posted lately I got inspired to show a couple of my watch projects. Please excuse the crappy photography-This is my first attempt to post photos! The first shots are a ref 1024, oyster perpetual gold cap model. This watch is nearly all rolex parts, but sourced from around the globe. The case came from Hong Kong, movement came from Australia, the auto assembly from PA, US, dial is genuine, but refinished, hands aftermarket and don't quite match the 14k gold cap case. The movement is a genuine calibre 1520-this case ref should house calibre 1570 chronometer rated movement. Anyway here it is. The next watch is a ladies stainless steel ref 6718. The case, crystal, dial and bracelet are all genuine and the movement is an ETA model 2000, used as a base movement by Omega I believe in some ladies models. The hands are not a perfect fit, but the watch is so damn little you cant really tell. I built this watch for my wife and I think she may have worn it once? Oh well! Thanks for the opportunity to post these Frankemwatches. I've got a vintage 5512 coming from Trusty I'm gonna start working on once it gets here. I'm looking forward to working on the sub and will post pics soon I hope.
  3. I just finished doing a used SD I bought from a fellow from the forum. I used 1.25 mm cobalt drill bit and light oil for cutting fluid and my cordless driver drill. I did 4 holes in no time. A 1.3 mm bit might work better as the original holes were not perfectly straight and the 1.25 mm bit didn't leave much room for play. MSC supply has the bits for a couple of bucks a piece if you can't find them locally and shipped UPS ground I had them in 2 days. Good luck!
  4. Thanks for the replies. I've been looking for a gen case for 2 years, but when they come around they always sell for too high a price for my blood. If things will fit together thats what really counts-parts is parts-right? Ubi, your absolutely right about the cost. The bezel kits sell on the bay for something like $279 for the bezel, spring, retainer and insert. Most parts for R*lex cost ten times what they should or what I think their worth.
  5. Gentlemen, Thank You all for the warm welcome. I think I'll hang around awhile!
  6. Gentlemen, Wondering if any vintage submariner rep cases other than MBW will accept genuine parts. I'm looking to case up a genuine movement and want to finish it out with genuine crystal, crown and tube. Any chances? Looks like the MBW's are kinda hard to come by.
  7. Hello All, I just joined the forum. What a cool place. I started off looking for a case for a gen rolex movement that I've had for a while but haven't been able to find a gen case for. I've been collecting watch parts for several years and building frankenwatches mostly from rolex parts as a hobby. I've been intrigued with vintage rolex watches for a while, but the availability of funds for real ones is lacking. I think the rep route may be the way to go.
  8. #1 is fake and #2 although gen is the wrong crown.
