  1. The fine details are beyond me but it looks great, I'd wear it :-) regards TudorKing
  2. If you are trying to replace the commonest movement, the ETA 2824 you should be able to use the IS 1198-101. ISA 1198-101, T: 3.25 mm, SH: 1.75 mm (Hands 90/150/20) regards TudorKing
  3. Great post Mike, thanks for taking the time and effort to do this. regards TudorKing
  4. Beautiful watch Red, that dial though.....just amazing! regards TudorKing
  5. Different movements from the 28XX series and 27XX series have different stem heights so you should be able to find one that fits ( I think ! ) regards TudorKing
  6. Interesting thread, never heard of Alum before! On those latest pics do I see that this "new" version of the MBW subs don't have the groove for the gasket under the retainer ring? Am I really slow and everybody else knows this already? regards TudorKing
  7. Great update Red. First time I had seen this thread so I really appreciate the bump. I have a spare gen 9411 dial and I'm trying to plan what to do with it, this thread really helps. regards TudorKing
  8. No, looks terrible. Send it my way I'll take it off your hands TudorKing
  9. I look forward to that Bike Mike, Tudorking
  10. Yeah sure Luthier, drop me a pm closer to the date. regards TudorKing
  11. Hi LE, Not much experience of watches mailed to me from the mainland. The only thing I had mailed from there was a surfboard! No duty on that. I do know there are heavy taxes on luxury goods in the mainland, that is why lots of rich mainlanders come to HK to buy their gold Rolexes. I don't know what would happen with reps though. Tudorking
  12. I am thinking something similar about using a Yuki 1655 case but I didn't really want to go the whole way and use a Rolex 1575 movement. I've thought about using a ETA 2893 if I can get one from somewhere ( should be reliable for day to day use ) but then I have the problem of making the 2893 fit the Yuki case correctly. Haven't decided yet. TudorKing
  13. As Freddy says many different movements can be made to fit many different cases but some with more time and effort that others. Some of the more important dimensions you need to consider are the diameter of the movement and the stem height ( the distance from the front of the movement to where the winding stem enters.) The modern ETA movements ( 2892 and 2824 ) are both 26mm in diameter but the Rolex movements are larger ( 28.5mm for the 15XX series and I think the same for the caliber 1030, somebody correct me if this is wrong )so you would need a spacer ring/adapter around the ETA movement. I have seen these but I don't know how easy they are to get. The stem height of the ETA 2824 is 1.80mm, and the of the ETA 2892 is 1.50mm. I haven't been able to find the stem height of the Rolex 15XX or 1030, maybe someone else knows. regards TudorKing
  14. Nice one Marty, should be good. Bill's building a very good reputation for himself. TudorKing
  15. Well I might be, but not for you Mike, unless that's short for Michella! regards TudorKing
  16. Thanks Lani, I'm just trying to catch up to everybody else's level so a quiet weekend is what I needed. regards TudorKing
  17. Looks like a wonderful 9411. I'm just learning but the little details like that date wheel is amazing, makes it such a special watch. I picked up one of those exact same NOS Tudor dials several years ago so my watch looks very similar. Strange thing is though after a couple of years wearing it like this its pristine condition I feel the urge to swap the old bubbled dial and faded insert back in for the vintage look, just can't win eh? regards TudorKing
  18. I think the Avier from Bernard watch was originally more expensive than the MKII, must have not sold very well. I'm sure MKII version will sell well though, looks quality all the way. regards TudorKing
  19. Hi Everybody, I'm an expat in Hong Kong. My previous experience with replicas has been with the cheap and nasty stuff that I've seen for myself in Hong Kong and across the border in Guangzhou so I have only worn genuine watches in the past. I've been looking at the MUCH better members projects on this board and they seem to give exactly what I like, similar case quality in some respects without having to pay through the nose. I'm very impressed by the knowledge and abilities of lots of the members here. In the last couple of days of researching old posts I have found information on how genuine watches are constructed that I have been trying to find for years on other watch forums but only now have I come across the information on this forum. Thanks to everybody for all the info I have already learned and I look forward to sharing anything I can in the future. regards TudorKing
