  1. I'd just like to let everyone here know that I bought a 30x loupe from ebay and it cost me about £2.50. It has transformed my watch appreciation life. Previously I was reading threads and looking at my watches with the naked eye and thinking - mine's ok, don't know what they're talking about, but holy smoke, when you look at your watch through a loupe a whole new world is opened up to you. Some good, some bad. For example dial printing is a POS when you look through a loupe. On the other side of the coin I have managed to confirm that a bracelet that was sold to me as gen is in fact what it should be. I would never have positively known that were it not for being able to check out fine details with the loupe. So, some you win some you lose but overall for a tiny amount of money I think it is the first thing any rep builder/appreciator/buyer should purchase.
  2. Thanks for clarification cc73. I appreciate what you're saying so I am tending towards using my 78350 with the 557 endlinks. Looks like I might have a gen 7835 for sale soon!
  3. Just checked the pinned bracelet/endlink thread at the beginning of this area and it clearly shows a 7835 could be correct for a 6263. As to endlinks - I'm completely lost.
  4. @cc33 Thanks for info. but I am confused. I bought a gen folded link bracelet for my previous 6263 (EE), can't remember what endlinks it came with but it fitted the case just fine. Also I bought another gen folded bracelet for a 6263 (DW 7750) and it is with Domi at the moment, he has not (so far) said there is a problem with the bracelet fitting, sorry, can't remember what endlinks are on this either. Also, and I don't mean to throw the cat amongst the pigeons but freddy333 uses folded link gens on his 6263's (I think) and he is quite well up on these things. I'm not saying what he has chosen to do is correct or not but I'm quite sure a folded link bracelet fits a 6263. Like I say, I don't know what to do or which to chose hopefully more experts will chime in. Interesting stuff indeed.
  5. I am trying to decide which bracelet to use on my 6263 rep. I have both folded link 7835 gen and a 78350 gen at my disposal. Which would you choose and why? Also, the only gen endlinks I have are a pair of 557's and a pair of 257's which combination of the above would you go for?
  6. " I really don't think you can convert your watch for 1000$ because your case prob won't accept a v72 its not the same case on the inside. Also you would need a new dial that fits onto a v72 movement. You basically wouldn't be able to use any parts from your current a7750 to do the build. " cc73. I see, thanks for the info. I had assumed it was possible to fit a V72 into a DW 7750 case because that's exactly what I did with my EE6263. It's no matter. If I build a V72 daytona I'll start with the movement then get case and dial etc afterwards. I'm happy with the look of my DW 6263 so far and for the money I've spent I think its going to be pretty damn good. As a reminder here is what the subdial spacing is going to look like. This is a DW 7750 case with gen glass and an EE6263 dial.
  7. I am eagerly awaiting my 6263 back from Domi (got to send him a bezel first then it will be back to me) and I was wondering about the whole movement issue and the obvious subdial spacing issue. To clarify, my watch has an A7750 movement inside. De-rotored, non hacking and (so far) very reliable. My previous 6263 was an EE6263 which I sold to a good friend who invested in a V72 and new dial. He loves the watch, it's worked out really well, he wears it every day, couldn't be happier. So, given that it would cost me circa £1,000 to convert my 6263 to a V72 - which I hasten to add I am very reluctant to do - what is the opinion of the folks here? Is it worth it just for the sake of the subdial spacing? I hasten to add that I don't really care about gen movements, as long as the watch looks good on the outside and the movement is accurate and reliable on the inside I'm happy with ETA, Asian, Seiko, whatever. I just thought I'd ask as it's always interesting to get other peoples take on this. If anyone has both V72 and 7750 powered versions that they regularly wear I'd love to hear what the difference is when you actually wear the watch, how does it make you feel?
  8. Thanks for that. He's out of stock right now and no indication of when he'll get more in stock so I'm a bit stuck really.
  9. Me too. Jeez, it can't be that difficult, can it? I mean the manufacturers can replicate an entire movement - this is just a bracelet for Christ's sake!
  10. @ freddy333, if you couldn't do it then I won't even go there!
  11. Thanks for the valuable info. Question: Is there any way the Yuki endlinks can be manipulated to make them fit 2mm springbars?
  12. Has anybody got experience of the ND Trading 20mm rivetted 7206 bracelet with 80 endlinks? I know Yuki does one but is out of stock, also I'm not happy with the fact that you can't use 2mm springbars with it. I was wondering how the ND Trading one fared, it's much more expensive and I'm hoping it will be prefect for a 60's-70's 5513 build. What do you reckon? Cheers.
  13. Nice stuff bones. Not based in the UK by any chance are you? I'm desperately trying to find a decent UK modder/watchsmith.
  14. When I first looked at the picture of the watch I thought OMG what hideous depths have Rolex sunk to now (pardon the double entendre). Then read the ad and saw that the diamonds had been added after by someone else. However, it is a sad thought that I actually believed that Rolex today would do such a thing. Such is their perception - in my mind at least.
  15. Oh, forgot to ask, what's the story with DW case lug holes? Are they correct as per gen? I don't recall anybody saying about re-drilling as per MBW vintage subs and SD's but I'd like to know for peace of mind.
  16. I believe on the 'bay they are called watchNY. I'm sure you know of them. They have produced a decent rep bezel, pointy "S" in "units" and corrected the 110 spacing. They go for about $250.
  17. I've got a NY bezel on its way to me. I can't find where the thread is but if I remember correctly these bezels have corrected the 1-1-0 problem. I hope so anyway, that's the only reason I bought it! It will be fitted to the watch before despatch. As for rounding off lug tips, is this a thing that one can do oneself? Presumably you need a dremel?
  18. I have sent parts to Domi for assembly. He is nearly finished and sent me a few photos, thought you might be interested to see. The build is a Daytona 6263 (surprise surprise). The case is a DW A7750. Gen glass, Ofrei pushers, Gen (tall) crown and tube, gen folded link bracelet, A7750 movement from an old EE6263 (anybody remember those?) dial and hands from the EE6263 and that's about it. Oh NY bezel is on its way to Domi to finish it off. Not a V72 I know but all in all for an asian powered 6263 I am quite hopeful it will be a nice piece. Observations/criticisms welcome.
