  1. Sounds great. But since when did Americans need an excuse to stuff their faces? I've seen Man vs Food!!!
  2. Whilst leafing through the pages of our wonderful community I happened to notice that one country stands out as having possibly the greatest collection of highly skilled modders so I'm starting this argument - sorry - thread to see if you agree. My nomination for the single country with the greatest watch making/modifying skills is........ Canada! Discuss/argue:
  3. streak
  4. Flat 3 - very much needed. Come you guys somebody's got to have it. Ubi?
  5. That's a fair point. If they weren't designed by Europeans they wouldn't be able to go round corners though
  6. Hate to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, and I am aware this is totally off topic but. Americans can't make cars. (Put that in your tail pipe and smoke it )
  7. IMHO the chapter ring is a design throwback, if you see what I mean. Given the period of time that the 5512 was designed the chapter ring is a nod to the past. The 5513's lack of chapter ring sets the tone for the future. Now don't get me wrong - I'm no modernist but I do tend towards simplicity of design with no added unnecessary flourishes and as such I prefer the 5513. As far as I'm aware there is no functional reason to have a chapter ring on the index. So if you like the 5513 is the 'purer' design, there is nothing on it that I can see has been put there for 'show' or aesthetic reasons, everything is functional even the wording. I also realise that there is no hard and fast rule, some 5512's had no chapter ring and some 5513's did (according to Urul & Skeet).
  8. Get it in a bag of rocks and give it a good shake
  9. I had a NOS 2846 put in an MBW 1665 SD about eight years ago. I confess I never had it serviced and it eventually stopped running (I wore it nearly every day). It is now with a fellow member who is going to give it a clean/service and well, lets see if it performs. If it doesn't I've only got myself to blame.
  10. Nice. Still a way to go though. Love the gen movement. Wear it well.
  11. Use the search function. There are so many variables. Price is key, do you want to spend $200 or $2000?
  12. I know nothing about GMT's. But I do know that $100k is just silly. Silly I say!
  13. Actually my mother in law is rather easy on the eye. I just couldn't resist the joke! (Didn't want you guys thinking I'd married unwisely).
  14. gratis
  15. I hope so, I hope so!
  16. @ TeeJay. Yes it certainly is, very functional. Which reminds me - my mother in law is rather functional as well!
  17. @ Justasgood You're putting me in an awkward position here. I really appreciate your offer and if you're saying what I think you're saying then deduct the $ from the other matter. Capiche?
  18. @ TeeJay Sorry but, although I appreciate what you are saying and agree with your reasons. The snowflake is, well, erm... dare I say it..... how should I put this? Oh, what the hell - it's ugly!
  19. The Zigmeister's your man.
  20. To quote The Kinks - "You really got me" with the beginning of that story. My jaw was literally agape. Anyway, amazing build and great to see another Patek is alive and ticking. What's the story with the movement?
  21. Super duper! Love it love it love it.
  22. Clark's it is. Thanks chaps.
  23. OK. Any preference from the three you mentioned?
  24. Am looking into all aspects of improving an MBW 5513 and I was wondering about the glass. I know gen is best (obviously) I also know Clarks is best aftermarket option but my question is this - what is the difference between the Clarks T19 and the glass that comes standard on the MBW ie how far off gen is the standard MBW glass?
  25. Nice to see the people on gen forums are so well informed. Ugh.
