  1. OK I'll take the plunge. Rep dial I think. The 3 on the hour sub dial seems to be different to the 3 on the minute sub dial. I have not got the expertise to identify weather the movement is gen (ie Rolex issued) but I'm sure the experts will chime in very soon. Lovely watch by the way - Bezel insert seems a bit rough though imho.

  2. Yes, its one with rolex rolex rolex on the rehaut. Not my cup of tea personally but hey ho his choice not mine. I must admit I was suprised at getting a new sub at less than the list price though. Oh and just for the record folks, Duggan had a DRSD in the window and I have a well modded DRSD and I swear to God you could not tell the difference with the naked eye. A tribute to the skillful modders we have here and a testimony to the care and research that we all share and benefit from. Next time I might go along with my rep on and see if they call me out.

  3. Hi Panerai fans,

I am posting this to help any noobs who may have the same problem. I bought a titanium cased panny from Davidsen for my wife and she was very happy but the lever that held the crown down became very loose very quickly and it stopped her from wearing the watch. She asked me if I could fix it but I have no specialist tools nor do I posess the skills. I have not done any more that change straps before. I hasten to add that the lever was flapping about willy nilly and was very annoying. I thought of various solutions and decided to try to file the feet of the bridge down to make the lever come in closer contact with the winding crown and hopefully solve the problem. I was not sure I could do this as I thought the feet of the bridge would be curved and make the job difficult. Also as I said I have no special tools. To cut a long story short I unscrewed the bridge and found that the feet were flat, so I rubbed each foot for a couple of minutes on a sharpening stone that I use for kitchen knives, refitted the bridge with the lever and hey presto the problem was solved. Apologies to the experts to whom this is probably perfectly obvious but it stopped my wife from enjoying the watch for some months and was so easy to cure I thought I would share it.

  4. My preference is for vintage so I bought a 1016 rep with ETA mvmnt from Josh. My wife fell in love with it instantly and I have hardly had the chance to wear it since. So, yes, Explorer 1's look great on women!

    Hope this helps.

  5. Yesterday I went into central London with a friend who was buying a new sub for his fathers birthday (lucky dad!). We visited David Duggan for starters and he had what we were looking for but was a little pricey but I have to report that there were some incredible pieces in his window with equally incredible prices. The one that sticks in my mind was a COMEX sea dweller. Beautiful piece, amazing condition a real rarity. Asking price?

  6. Great looking James Bond. For what its worth I thought the pearl was a little new looking and was about the only thing that needed a little attention. Beautiful watch all the same and the design of that watch in particular is really beginning to age well. I predict that in a few years it will have the look and feel of what a bubble back has at the moment (if that makes sense) Wear well and enjoy.

  7. Great looking watch. I'm a big fan of abused timepieces, love those scratches, to me they are the icing on the cake of a believable vintage rep. We all bang on about detail and font accuracy etc etc but the moment you see a brand spanking new looking vintage piece it screams rep to me so keep up the daily wear, get it scratched and scratched some more never polished and I reckon you could fool even the most anal WIS.

  8. Thanks for the clarification and I see exactly what you mean. I think you have definitely made the right decision, not only did the others think the markers were a little skinny but it was obviously playing on your mind and now the issue is being dealt with. Your 1665 (which is also my daily beater of choice) is going to end up the envy of us all.

    All the best.

  9. OK. If you want an opinion I'll give it. I love the creamyness of the hour markers on the top dial but the index markers look a bit elongated (not sure if this is due to distortion through the glass). Lower dial looks to have better proportioned index markers but not such a nice dial overall imho.

  10. Hi to all Omega fans,

I am usually found lurking and occasionally posting on Rolexes but have a question concerning Omegas and hope someone can answer it. I have been asked by a friend if in the 1960's or 70's Omega produced a dial for a Constellation with the word Omega printed above the 6 o'clock marker as opposed to the usual position of under the 12 o'clock marker as I do not know for sure myself I thought I would consult you experts. Thanks in advance for any help and if you need more info I will try and get more details.

    Thanks all.

  11. Watch looks great, wear it well. This is a thought and I mention it because I can't see the fliplock in the photos but I remember reading that the safety fliplock clasp should not have two lines etched in them on vintage bracelets but the reps do. Someone smoothed them out on a rep bracelet and the results looked very good. I am working from memory here and hope my info is accurate (and makes sense!) anyway just a suggestion for a little mod to make a great watch even better.

    All the best, Dieselpower.
