Hi,

I have recently ordered a watch from Joshua. All was well and I have just got back from a business trip and tracked the package and it says "handed over to customs" that is here in the UK. Sounds bad, anyone have any experience of this?

Great work, as ever. I myself am not a fan of bling but this watch has it in a non-blingy kind of way which I think is excellent. Hope your wife loves it.

Overall look - too 'busy'. All that unnecessary writing. What happened to the old adage - keep it simple?

I have a wealthy friend who also used to look down on my reps. I showed him a few and he was impressed with the quality. Some time later he told me he was going to buy a Panerai. I told him that there are good quality Pan reps and he took the gamble and bought one from DSN. Needless to say he was bowled over, wears the watch all the time and is very pleased at having saved himself a few thousand pounds.

PS He now wants me to source a JLC rep.

Rip it apart. All the best reps (frankens) mean that an original piece had to die. So be it. A superb franken is far better than an average original.

I thought I would pose this question as I am very disturbed by the latest designs - across the range. I should point out that I am a fan of the classics, the 1665's the PN Daytonas, also the watches that never get talked about here ie the Princes and the bubble backs. I would like to solicit opinions about the latest designs. The blue/steel sub for example, if you compare that to a sub from the 1970's what do you conclude about the future of the Rolex company?

A good friend of mine works for Rolex in Geneva and I said to him that I thought that the latest designs were generally awful and he was really offended. He is so in awe of the company that he thinks they can do no wrong. I hasten to add that he is not really a watch man and yet because he works for them he feels qualified to give opinions about their designs. He is very unimpressed with my 1665 (MBW, fully modded slow beat eta ubi datewheel gen crown and tube drilled lugs etc etc) but thinks that the latest sub with the enhgraved rehaut is fantastic. So what do you think? Does the company have a future? Will the models produced today be classics in the future?

By the way, I am told by my friend that they no longer produce the Explorer 1. Need I say more?

Generally I couldn't agree more with the comments above. The dealers are businessmen and the modders are artists. The two don't mix. Having said that I wish eurotimez well with his 16610 project and think it is a fantastic idea (have I just completely contradicted myself? probably but who cares!)

The blue works with the gold really well. But TT subs are hideous

I hope it is fake. It's just what my 1665 DRSD needs. Anybody know the source? Can we buy outside the bay? Don't want to compete with fellow members and push the price up.

Also shouldn't the indexes on the subdial go all the way to the edge of the circle, these fall short. Just for the record the 6 and the 9 on the hour marker sub dial look wrong to me too.
