  1. Since A's watches have greatly inspired me, I went and purchased an Anthaya crown and tube. I'm now looking for someone to drill and tap for me so I can install it. The crown/tube really makes a huge difference.  Keep up the good work Akira!

Ditto i have also ordered a anthaya crown and tube for my trusty 6538 case i have a helenarou rolex logo gloss dial but i need to have the markers relumed as the markers are superluminova and flat ! Akira done some super work on those 6536/8s

these crown/tube looks super and low priced , the rep crown is so wrong and the logo crown is just crap hard to believe those dials are the rep dials after that super reluming !

  2. Thanks so much, means tons to hear things like that.

I'm in the hospital and have had some problems ...that's why I've been inactive. I'm much better now and will be home in a couple days.

Thanks again for the nice words.

    Killer Tudors!!!! :)

Get well soon woof ! im going to hospital tomorrow but its just for a day ! have some problems too, thanks for the thumbs up on our tudors ! glad to have you back ! :)

  3. From what we gathered on here this one is based on a phong case, and yes go for it it's a fantastic piece to build   :inverted:  I'm just fitting up a new bracelet on it and having fun with the end links atm !

If you want the build specs just pm me aero  ;)

Thanks mate ! i tried to pm you but it says you can not receive any new messages ! :) love your snowflake datesub ! :clap2:

  4. Ditto ! get it tested it will be hit and miss with regards to water resistance thats why even if you order waterproofing service dealers will not cover water damage at all, loose backcases are a big problem especially when purchased by someone who does not mess/mod watches

my ultimate submariner rated at 100 atm passed it was tested on a rolex tester and actually was 100 atm , all watches including gens have to be checked regular and have gaskets replaced to maintain its water resistance !

i remember reading on a website an ex navy diver who has a large collection of gen submariners dived to 100 meters with a 10usd seadweller replica and the watch servived the dive without any issues and the rep has now a place with his gen collection which includes some gen 5517 milsubs ! :)

  5. It took me a while to warm up to the tudor snowflake subs at first i found the square dial and hands, well too just ugly!

if anyone has been following my post (tudor blue insert needed) will know that i have been having problems matching the aftermarket insert with the light blue dial it was too dark/purple/blue after fading the insert  now looks much better but i still would like to find a gen tudor insert.

here a photo of the 1680 as purchased

My watchmaker friend Andreas made the lume dot which is clear hollowed out and yellow lume applied

This photo shows the thin stainless steel ring fitting under the rehaunt nesserary to seat the tudor 26mm dial as the opening is 26mm also on these rep 1680 cases

  6. It looks great mate, your project is really making me want to do one. I notice the thin stainless steel ring but it looks great. let me know if you have any spare one

Im sorry i dont have a spare my watchmaker made it im not sure if he used a washer and modded it or made it from scratch i have seen these type of washers at plumber and builders merchance anyone with a lathe can make one as they have to be made especially for each watch rafflestime sells dials 29mm and 26mm 29mm will not fit in this rep 1680 some dials i have seen are 27mm which would fit in this 1680 case without mods, go for it these tudor submariners are super and are more suited to eta movement than rolex subs especally when fitted with a tudor rotor did you see my black bay style homage ?

  7. I have faded the insert using plastic polish that is used for removing scratches and yellowing out of plastic car headlights to avoid over fading the insert edges i fitted the insert in the bezel and fitted an old crystal this keeps you away from those edges where you can easily go down to the aluminium here are some quick photos the insert still looks darker in the flesh than in these photos but the contrast between dial and insert is less!

notice the thin stainless steel ring  just visible under the rehaunt this mod was nessesary for fitting the tudor 26mm dial  into the rep 1680 case

have been keeping my watchmaker friend working over the holidays helping me with this project ! i think he is planning on shooting me by the new year ! thanks mate!

  8. Thanks guys! I got my dial from mahand as well. He sent me the wrong first, the no-date dial, there is a difference in the colour of those two dials, the no-date seemed to be a lot lighter in colour. Stainless steel ring for the rehaut? Wish I thought of that! I just ordered another case set from DW, that he assured me would fit a 26mm dial...

Thanks im thinking of fading the insert a bit but i think it will still look wrong or try to darken the dial using wood laquer but i have no idea how it would turnout i have only done this on black dials im fitting a gen tube/crown the clark ct19 was difficult to fit to the 1680 rep case we had to shave off a little from the crystal at the bottom

  9. I was bit by the Tudor

A work in progress. The case is a DW case for ebay, unfortunately the dial is a shade too small for it, probably because it's meant for a 1680 dial. The dial is from ebay, as are the hands, blue insert is from WSO, powered by an Asian 2836.

Super builds ! im building a blue flake no date i got the dial from ebay mhand and ordered the insert from   wso but the insert is too dark/purple/blue and does not match the dial your insert looks like it matches the dial ? i had to install a small thin stainless steel ring under the rehaunt in the 1680 case as the dial is 26mm and a little to small

  10. Definitely sounds like you've got some options, and yes, a gold font insert might go quite nicely with the gilt dial, so maybe worth a try :)  The brown insert definitely looked nice, and subtle :)  I have to admit, I think the nicest color I've seen on a watch insert (excluding the 6542 perspex, of course) is the blue inserts of the Omega Seamasters...  So versatile as well, as in less than brilliant light, they look just as black as a Submariner :)  A plan I have for the future, is to install a blue insert on one of my Tudor Subs, which I've seen referred to as a 'landshark' mod :)  Probably won't be happening any time soon ( :bangin: ) but I figure it's always good to have goals to strive for :victory:

Sounds like a super plan this is how i plan my builds i bend both ways vintage builds and custom builds how about a ceramic sub case blue ceramic insert and a blue snowflake dial and hands a modern flake sub raffles dial and hands and a rep watch :)

  11. Where did you get the thin stainless steel ring for the rehaunt?

    Cheers

You may be able to find them from a hardware store they are usualy washers used for inserts in pipes making a plastic transparent ring using a compass would not be difficult and can be left has it is or even painted with silver spray paint you can use one of those A4 transparent plastic files if you found the correct colour for your dial it would be invisable

  12. Fantastic news :tu:  How is the color of the bezel with regards wardrobe compatibility?

Its ok im still not sure i will stay with the insert i may refit the harley brown i can not find a burgandy red insert the guy that made the case is working on making a correct colour insert and bb crown that will fit on this case black clothes seem to set off the bezel nicely i think, i tried a stainless steel bracelet but black seems to suite it better with both inserts i also ordered a gold fond insert thinking that the gold fond would go with the guilt dial so thats another option

  13. add a stainless steel ring under the rehaunt for seating the 26mm tudor dial

I am curious about this, can you post a picture of this mod?

    Cheers

i have the watch at the shop soon as i can i will post pics ,its a thin stainless steel ring that fills the gap and stops the dial falling through the rehaunt its only noticable with a lobe the only parts im waiting for to finish the watch are the gen crown/tube and jmb backcase engraving we have used also a transparent plastic ring to make up the gap the problem with this case is the dial is 26mm and the rehaunt is also 26mm

  14. What case are you using for your build mate,  I think this is going to be my next build.

    Cheers

im using the trusty 1680 redsub watch with the 2846 eta my last 5513 was built with puretimes 1680 redsub puretimeswatch is much better built

the problem with these cases is the bezel/crystal set up we had to modify it on both watches the trusty case came with very good cgs and not the stubby fat type we had to add a stainless steel ring under the rehaunt for seating the 26mm tudor dial

we been having a problem fitting a clark crystal and had to shave the crystal to fit, and make a metal retaining ring

here is a photo as purchased the profile of the rep case matches with a gen profile 94011 watch both watches came with 2mm lugholes which is a bonus imho i believe these are the best rep cases for a low budget build
