Buying a gen is very risky on line we have seen what can be created by us franken builders and some one who wants to rip someone off could do so not everyone is an expert
and some sellers may not know that they are selling a fake, opening the back is no longer a sure way to prove its a gen ,even gens are now fitted with aftermarket dials inserts and so on ,
If the watch is fake but fitted with a gen movement, 1600 usd may not be a total loss, the movement if in good condition would still have a value at least with ebay you have the option to return the watch, now with these clone 3135 movement its even more dangerous to the none expert eye.
A 5513 sub correctly stamped case and an aged dial and gen movement could be passed on to a seller not knowing its a fake and then resold a lot of buyers no nothing about
vintage rolexes but buy them for an investment.

I used to have a 2813 seadweller 28,800 beats!wouldnt that also make it a slow beat?
-
Is this movement the same version as the puretime superclones? sorry if this has already been answered!

Thank you Mr Ice! (joking) Nanuq! The low-cost alternative to a gen 702 is the lowly MBW triplock crown. It has enough wall thickness that you can chuck It up in a lathe or drill, and use tools to carve a bevel on the case side.
It's yoogly, but it's also cool in a Warhol kinda way.

I want to fit a 702 in my puretime redsub 1680 that has been modded to 5513! in a gen case only a gen crown and tube for sure in fact i would make it all gen but then again it may cost as much as a gen from ebay! im looking for a crown that looks close to the gen 5513/2 but in keeping with my low cost build !I'd say if you're building a franken piece, the 702 reproduction from J&W would suffice. Hell, I might even pick one up. My only concern would be the pitch on the tube fitting the case. You obviously would never want to mod a gen case to fit a repro tube. But a rep case might afford more options. As far as a list of where to get 702s, that would be quite challenging I suspect.

Thats a gen,gen gen! the one thing that bugs me on my 5513 is the crown a 702 will make my watch desperately seeking! put out an APB !My 5512 is really just a support system for my 702
-
How about a list on this tread of where to find 702s and there prices so jandw has them at 225usd ebay 300-400usd let hear of some more gen or reproduced !

i have send around a 100usd for parts my watchmaker friend ordered from him with no problems but that was on ebay over 3 days no reply.I asked him to send the correct dial, here is his answer:
I am very sorry. I will do that next week. I am on holiday now.
Ken
This was sent sept 10. I´m getting a little worried aswell. I will mail him now.

Try ruhelena(henenarou) and rafflestime (ruffles) they are on ebay sell sterile cases too they also have there own sites (on raffletime site make sure that you are getting what you ordered) they have some photos of dials that dont match the description so email them to check. on ebay it should be ok.If we can get someone to produce nice sterile dials and hands to match, one can potentially build a sterile watch which works the same as gen, without the complications. I would love to build something like that with super lume and rock the hell out of it every day. Date, or no date.

im very happy with my ch2824 and ch2836-2 they run perfectly the 2836-2 has a very smooth sweep better that some of my swiss etas. But why would you bother with a gen style movement when you can spend alot less and use a ch2824 and have just as good a watch!??
-
Thats a great deal! so silix sells cases for the 65? as i said mine was a trusty 6538 left for now the 2836-2 clone it work fine i got some slow beat etas for later mine cost around 250$ i think we shaved the bottom of the plexy too but then fitted a gen omega dome i dident like the dome that was on too much distortion the omega is flatter in the centre. i used 2mm rolex pins but it was tight getting them in because the tube part was 20mm its self. Why am I calling you Aerotime when it's Aeromatic?
Thanks for the compliment. It's just a Silix $85 cheapie. I bought two, they were my first ever modding projects. I did the first one for my son, and then this one for myself. Both essentially the same, except his one had a gilt second hand, and I did a white one on mine. All the parts are stock - reworked the dial, shaved the plexi, drilled the lugholes and fitted 2mm pins, strap came from Ebay.
I think the whole thing gave me change from $120.

Thats a super watch you have there! where did you get the dial from and case?Cousins UK sell boxed sets of generic Rolex hands to fit Chinese movements, mixed silver and gilt.
Don't know what the shipping to Germany would cost though.
If you just want a one-off, you could do what I did and use glass paint, a mixture of yellow and brown, over your silver hands. The finished effect comes out like this -

Hanx i have not had a reply from raffles yet, you said they were on vacation? have they sorted out your dial? im starting to get worried!I ordered the same dial, thought I put it in a silix 6538 case, change the bezel and have black bay prototype. Unfortunately I received a regular snowflake dial as stated in the text on the site. I mailed them and got an answer that they will address the issue as soon as they return from vacation. I hope you got the right one or have they just put the wrong picture to the text?

thanks to freddy so the 702 has dots and its the 700 that does not? i dont mind with or without !Yes thats correct no dots thats what im looking for!
-
I have seen this site before and forgot it they have a big selection of goodies!http://www.jewelryan.../en-us/d77.html
702 is $125 sealed. you can probably get a used one for $80-$100 but for $25 more a new one is worth it, you never know the integrity of the spring or threads in the used ones, and they will always have uneven wear on the threaded grip
-
Yes thats correct no dots thats what im looking for!I have a 702 with the tube that I purchase back in 2007 I think for $50 and I? am saving it because I have not find what to use for..
702 does not have the dots right?

I think these crowns are overpriced i have been trying to find a 702 for my 5513 for over a year but 300 plus i want something around 50usd it just seems a lot for a rep build to me! we tried to narrow the cartel crown by shaving the inside a little in a taper but after i reshaped the cgs to look more like a 65 gen we had the crown still looks to wide! do we have any aftermarket/rep crowns? (narrow)

oops! sorry i posted the before photos by mistake! here are the after pics!Hi davylloyd this case is the trusty 6202 the watch has changed a bit since, i have a post on this piece a little down the rolex pages (6538 budget build) i have changed the highdome crystal for a lower one and replaced the dial with a ruhelena high gloss one rebrushed case and beveled and polished the top of the lugs the trusty case has sharp edges , and redrilled the lugholes to take 2mm springpins my first 6538 build was a yukicased 1030 project this one i wanted to build to look new i have not done any patina (ageing) at all just thought it would be a change! here are some pics
Notice the springpin spacers to keep the 18mm strap central ,although on this watch i may try a 20mm strap

i would get a local jewlery engraver to do the wotk working with a photo of the bb crown but even a plain crown would be ok with me!Sounds like a great plan! Where would you have the crown engraved?

If we could find the manufacturers or someone with some sort of contact mabe we could make a list of names wanting a 1570,1520 and have a special order made .there is a market for these movements this has been said already not only franken builders but gen owners im ready to sign the list now ( am i just dreaming) we built this world on dreams! When the complete watch with this(or similar) movement came out way back when...no one wanted to buy the whole watch. It looks like they may have fixed the stem problem too.
That top bridge piece I showed above can be had for 2-300$...same as the rotor. So for 600$ or so you have a very good looking movement and hopefully this pans out to be a great running movement.
I think I am going to order one for my TC
I still wish they did this with the 1520 and 1570....Freddy's right, as gen parts are getting harder to get every day, more gen owners are going to be using more aftermarket parts...there should be a good market for several different Rolex movement clones.

Hanx A black bay prototype here is a super case to use and make something classy bezel is totally different but totally cool! if i get the right dial i will build it with an eta 2824-2 and that sterile crown mabe get it engraved to look like the bay!I ordered the same dial, thought I put it in a silix 6538 case, change the bezel and have black bay prototype. Unfortunately I received a regular snowflake dial as stated in the text on the site. I mailed them and got an answer that they will address the issue as soon as they return from vacation. All great tips i used acylic laquer teak wood stain on my 6538 silver hands( experiment) they really look aged guilt effect
we mounted them on thin wire or pins so that the mounting holes dont clog up and the tint was so light it dident change the colour of the lume that much i also sanded a silver handset until they turned brass then dipped them in water to help patina here are some pics of the laquer finish!
I also did the whole (out of the box) dial until i decided on a ruhelena dial!
