  1. Congratulations, the 192 rep, imho, is better looking than the gen version, the placement of the subdials and spacing is just right. Wear it well!
  2. Congrats, wear it well. The strap suits the Ti nicely!
  3. Nice pics, thanks for sharing about the neat characteristics of the SuperOcean rep! Makes me want to wear mine now.
  4. I would think the one on the right. IMHO, it is still a wonderful rep, and for myself, the date font difference is minimal. Don't hesitate, this SuperOcean rep in the market now is a nice one.
  5. Great collection, and very inspiring. Those pics are prompting me to giddy-up and build up my collection. Thanks!
  6. Nice to know you made your selection! Have fun with the Breitling and Omega choices as well!
  7. Nice group of pics Rolli, you really are the Panerai collector!
  8. Hi Rolli, Great pics of the gen Pam 55, with white dial! I did not know it existed till you posted the pics. Here's my 'fantasy' Pam 112 pvd in which I switched cases, and my fiddy straight out of the box. These 2 were last year's purchases. Excuse the blurry quick shot of the 112
  9. Hi All, I bought these 2 asian movement SuperOceans 2 weeks ago, and having spent some time with them, my mini review: The blue dial on bracelet was my initial choice, and when I went to pick it up from my local collector, I saw the black dial on leather strap, that was it. I bought both and am now a happy camper. The good - Timekeeping is quite good, case materials top-notch. Water resistance holds up to washing/rinsing. Bracelet is acceptable and comfy. Leather strap is very nice, very money. Bezel clicks nice and solid too. Date clicks at 11.59. The not-so-good - Minute hands for both sloping a little upwards. 12 o'clock marker has some residue (glue?). Bezel a bit off. All in all, I can live with the small imperfections. The rep makers has done nice work on this model, I used to avoid Breitling reps 2 years ago, now my impression has changed with this model, and will be saving up for the Super Chrono Avenger. Thanks for reading!
  10. Before I forget, welcome to the Pam club!
  11. The Pam 55 Ti only comes with a tobacco dial, you mentioned white, could be interesting, if the rep is of good, decent good quality. That said, if its the only Pam rep you will be buying (which I doubt, Pams are addictive), may I suggest the Pam 113, white dial on ss, it looks great on various strap colors. There is also a database to help you decide and also to check on the actual models Panerai released. Google 'paneristi' and the reference section should clear your doubts. I started in early 2005 with my first Pam rep (005), its still running great and water resistant too. At one time I had 15 different higher-end Pam reps, and I flipped some of them, now down to 7 in my collection. Newest acquisition are 2 Breitling SuperOceans, and an Omega SMP ETA. Go with your heart, even if Panerai did not release the model you fancy, the higher-end reps make great, rugged, everyday watches. Have fun in your selection process!
  12. There are some Gen models that have unique dial colors specific for a particular model. In our rep world, anything goes for the low-end reps. Higher-end reps' dial colors are very close to the Gen dials. To answer your question, Panerai does not customise dial colors for their customers as far as I know. It would be nice if they did, given the price that they are asking...
  13. Thank you, I suppose a dark tone would suffice, I'll give it a shot.
  14. Thanks for the info regarding the sandpaper, will try it out in a couple of hours.
  15. Thanks for the comment, I happened to view some pics of the 2006 SIHH last year, and there it was, on display, a 112H in pvd or ceramic, and I liked the look of a sandwich dial in pvd, and so found a 005 pvd case with closed caseback (the one with the Ltd Edn numbers) and did the switch, its currently on the rubber strap, still deciding whether or not to put it on brown or black leather strap. No doubt they did not release that particular model this year, I felt it was fun to personalise my Pams! Been collecting for the past few years with the advent of higher quality reps, and I only chanced upon this forum and joined a few months back!
  16. Awesome pics of a great rep. I was initially averse to this Hublot too, now your pics have made me plan on getting it too!
  17. Hi All, Just wanted to share these 2 Pams of mine, bought in 2005, apart from some minor issues, such as the asian 7750 12hr indicator acting up, and the Ti on the Pam lug ends being scratched and having worn threads, they are still nice additions to my rep collection. Will post more pics of my other Pam reps and mods soon (Pam 112h in PVD case). Thanks for looking!
  18. Hi All, I accidentally made a few dings near the lugs of my Pam 192, is there a way to smoothen things out? The dings are pretty obvious. The threads on the Ti lugs were worn out as usual, and I forced a thicker screw pin into the lug ends, the screwdriver slipped....... Thanks!
  19. Hello, I have been having issues with my Pam Daylight. How do I reset the the hand on the subdial at 6 o'clock, its been moving slowly and counting the hours for the past 24 hrs. It is the rep with the asian 7750. Just hoping someone, anyone, could chime in. All the other functions are normal, except the issue I mentioned above. Thank you very much to all of you for your help!
  20. Hi there, You might like to try Pam 111 h or 112 h, sandwich dials. I have had mine for close to a year, and they are quite well made, inevitable fine scratches on the Pams add to their charm as well. The timekeeping is quite good too. IMHO they are good value for the money. The other forum members might have better suggestions as well. Good luck with your hunting! All the best
  21. Hello, I'm a newbie here, its a coincidence that you mentioned the 183, my 183g's thread has gone south. I had it for about since 2005 and wore it off and on, I would say 6 months of regular winding. It gave up on me yesterday, and I have not been able to fasten the crown back in. I paid around 300 for mine from a dealer, much as I like the cushion case, I would probably stick to the Luminor cases. Thanks for reading! Regards, Pat
  22. Thank you The Zigmeister, you have been most kind. I will heed your advice and try it out over the weekend! Regards, Patrick
  23. Hello, I'm new to this forum, great site by the way! I've been collecting Panerai reps for quite a while, and the question is, my Pam 203 lug hole thread has worn off, is there any method to salvage the situation, the screws still emit a click anti-clockwise before normal rotation, but when tightening, it just goes on and on. Hope it does not fall off when I'm wearing the watch. Thanks in advance for your kind advice and attention. Regards, Pat
